"When I am Laid in Earth" aka "Dido's Lament" from Purcell's "Dido and Aeneas." Somebody on the music staff knew what they were doing: "remember me, but not my fate"
Smuttbullen Is just saying nothing precious was lost cos he has not felt the freaking pain to lose a member of his family or friend. He is just plain dumb otherwise I am just too old and I am too young. I am 14 so he is probably about 8 to 10.
@sideburnsbob It is a note for note transcription of "When I am laid in Earth", also known as "Dido's Lament" from the 17th century opera Dido and Aeneas by Henry Purcell (1659-1695). Since Purcell predates Bach (1685-1750) ever so slightly, Bach being 16 years the younger and living 55 years longer, you can tell where Bach drew his inspiration.
Listening to this reminds me of the part when the 300,000 German Soldiers surrendered, and they began marching. Why did Webester have to say those terrible things to those average German Soldiers? Sick in my opinion.
@ModernWarfareChick when you are a soldier sent very far away from your home and loved ones and your being shot at and your friends are getting killed then you will hate the enemy webster said those things out of frustration off what hes bin trough during the the war friends of him died and he could of bin killed to i understand it completly
@Genghis23 Yeah, it was one of the most breathtaking moments in the entire series. The church scene after the battle in Bastogne made me speechless too.
@smuttbullen you have an evil soul my friend, you think that 80 million lives lost in WW2 is nothing serious? may god have mercy on your soul, sick bastard
This piece is an instrumental arrangement of Dido's Lament from Henry Purcell's opera Dido and Aeneas. The text of her lament, appropriate to this moment in Band of Brothers, is "When I am laid in earth, may my wrongs create no trouble in thy breast. Remember me, but ah! forget my fate." That this piece dovetails in the following scene so well with Beethoven's op. 131 string quartet, an artistic manifestation of the greatness of German culture, is ironic, tragic, and brilliant.

An adaptation of "Dido's Lament" otherwise known as "When I am Laid in Earth".
Look up either of those if you want to hear beautiful opera versions of this song.

It's Dido's Lament (Henry Purcell). You can also hear it in the "Der Untergang". An epic music I guess.

Interesting - this seems to be based off a Bach passacaglia. Beautiful theme.
