  • my choir is doing this song its great :D

  • this is amazing. thank you for sharing this with us, you guys are GREAT!

  • Good job! We did this for choir last year. You guys did a great job!

  • Im doing this song for choir! I really like it. But its WAY better with the piano. It sounds really pretty.

  • great quality compared to other vids!

  • ahaha when i first saw this video it only had 108 views. its come a fair ways!

  • Man they're good:)

  • Really good, sopranos 1 need to work on their breathing though i feel like their part is lacking.

  • Very good for a very young and small looking choir!

  • My Choir is also doing this song but we sound nothing like this because we have people that take the class for their own personal screw around time but it is still a good song

    KuroSame

  • my choir is doing this. This is the most fun song i have ever sang in choir. This is the only song we have done where i have gotten so into the song that i couldn't help but close my eyes and move to the beat. I got lost in the beauty of the music. I love it.

  • This is the best version by far I have heard, my choir is doing this song and well they scare me and the teacher, they hardly pay attention and they think this is an easy A class, they were wrong. Glad I have a nice teacher.

  • @Froginthemouth406 Who is ur teacher... just wonderin

  • @masturmax1 lol right? im wondering if their teacher could switch with my chorus teacher cuz were doing the same

  • They are way too quiet, you can't hear them very well.

  • we r doing this song for my show choir. (:

  • we r doing this song for my show choir. (:

  • The vocals are better in this one than Perpetuum Jazzle anyways.

  • AMAZING

  • i visited my hs choir and they were singing this song and i got to sing along and i instantly fell in luv w/ it

  • Absolutely great. The arrangement fits perfectly with the choir. perfect job!!!

Greetings from the Band "Funkstörung" Germany

  • STONKIN'!

Cooler than an orgy in an igloo.

  • Really, really marvelous!

  • Is choirest even a word??? Good job though. Not a bad arrangement at all. Maybe expand the range a little.

  • lol this sounds like an epic viking version

  • The director might be conducting in 4/4 to help the "percussionists". I just wish the girls would put their shoulders back. I dont understand how they can sing with poor posture,

  • wow amazing voices they sound great!

  • pretty epic, i agree it lacks energy and emotion. sounds very good though, good singing

  • theyre a choir technically not an acapella correct?

  • There is one guy on the right who needs to take scissors to his hair.

But otherwise, its pretty good but it does lack a lot of energy. My choir is doing this song for our next concert. I enjoy it a lot. I love the harmonies. The girls are flat in this choir and really wide too. And the choir director is conducting it in 4, but its in cut time and would save him a lot of time.

  • beautiful tenors! I wish our tenors sounded like this.

  • @kayway2010 It's to be credited to their Baritones as well I believe, if it's the arrangement I'm thinking of.

  • great voices, but they sound like they're dead. nooo energy.

  • never gonna walk this journey alone*

  • My choir is doing this, and never ganna walk this journey alone and the 2nd song is just blow your mind away good, and just got africa, but we will get it down :)

  • It has a lot of heart but it's missing soul.

  • every second have a cut...why like this? more practice..

  • too proper. this isnt classical music. be brighter with your vowels!

  • I liked it. Nice job kids.

  • very nice though

  • at 1 17 you should really add a lot more soul. feel the song, dont sing it. the harmonies and melodies at this part will carry immensely if you sing it with should instead od just notes or sound you know. same at 225 310 too lol just belt the hell out of it lol........something no one seems to ever do lol

  • Stupendous performance!!! This is very cool!!!!

  • awesome! =)

  • too messy

  • too messy for me bro... like its cool and all with do's and stuff.. but just make it little less messy more soul.. and less robotic..

    everything els was cool.;)

    strange formation btw

  • messy

  • haha, the 3 girls in the bottum right are the only ones swaying... and there not even in unison

  • they are really good. this sounds awesome. a little rhythm difficulties but cool...

  • Comment removed

  • the timing is off from the origional.. im not sure if its how its written but i would take it and make the timing of the words a little different. it just sounds very robotic, let it flow a bit. also watch how long you hold the notes. another thing is just the mix... the boys have a harmony part but are very prominent in the chorus. and just a little thought... what kinda choir formation are you in?? its not mixed but theres like one guy off to the side by himself.. just wondering

  • Amazing song, great job :D

Oh and the dude on the far right is HOT !!!

  • Compare this with the Perpetuuj Jazzile cover arrangament of Africa.......

its simpley OUTSTANDING 8 mio views in 4 months

  • If the student had more energy, the group wouldnt be so flat.

  • Yay! My high school choir is doing this song. It's so much freaking fun. :DD

  • more percussion vocals, but a unique take on one of my favourite songs

    Go gals and guys

  • .....either stand still or move together.

    So damn distracting

  • so true

  • I'm stuck in competition performance mode. Everything I see I judge based on a competition. I guess that's what happens when you've been trained to perform for competitions...

  • Very good but they need more percussive sounds

  • the percussion voice shouldent be in the actual choir part.. like in the beginning it keeps cutting in and out and sounds really bad to be quite honest... they should keep going as the rest of the choir sings to keep a beat like a drummer would

  • almost in tune. i dont like the shugga shugga shugga part either. am i riding in a train? i dont think so.

  • its supposed to be the percussion i guess

  • I downloaded ' It's a small world" and "africa". thanks...

  • if there was more energy in ur performance it wood b so much better UNC clef hangers for example they are FABBBBBBBBBBBBULOUS sry i just luv tehm

  • great job!

  • you did a great job doing a chorus number of a great 80's classic! kudos to you!

  • We're gonna start learning this song in my chorus clas tomorrow I can't wait!

  • Haha quality!!!

  • a couple times i almost left but somehow they held me...it was cool

  • this is amazing!! i love this!

  • Nice....

  • Wow, great voices ..... but, I totally agree, there's a lack of energy. It's a little bit flat...

  • god xD

  • Listen to PERPETUUM JAZZILE on doing their cover of Africa by Toto.

  • A detail, instead TURUTUTU, they sing TURUTUTAAAA, that sounds better.

  • @Skafimy2 ha yeah the thunder part is pretty sick

  • my choir did a version of this song too! it's on my channel if anyone cares haha I really like this one.

  • Comment removed

  • i love this song..my show choir did it too

we took it a faster tempo which i prefer..show some emotion! and try to blend..but good job!

  • u can really hear abby a. in this :)

  • you guys blend really well together- there was a lack of energy throughout the song- try to put a little more soul into it next time.

  • This was pretty good, but I agree with whoever said this lacked a little spice. It needs energy and diversity. The blend was great.

  • this song is good.. we're singing this in choir too.. =]]]

  • Great :D!!! 5stars by far!

  • I only hear "ooo" instead of "you" when the part is sung "its gonna take a lot to take me away from you." Perhaps it was intended that way, but even if it was it didnt work out.

  • The men are too dark. Lighten up, its a fun song!

And also, I can clearly tell that you lack diversity. Your choir is missing a certain.. flavor that I've found very important to songs like this, and others.

  • Oh menn, we are gonna do this one too. We started rehearsing last week. I already got crazy about the shk shk shk shk, cause thats my part for most of the song! But i think we will be as excited as you are we we actual nail it perfectly! It's so awesome if you got it right!!

  • Something that you could suggest to your choir director is

    chka chka shka chka

This is alot easier and it sounds alot better. (We did this, this year)

  • we had our choral aires sing this last year and it wasss sooo cool...these two girls Lauren and Meagan did a really cool skatting solo...they actually have some videos of their stuff on youtube look em up lol lauren and Meagan!

  • Lol my choir won 1st place in california choir festival singing this song, and we live in kansas. we went agianst alot of states too and won first place.

  • If my high school choir did anything half as cool as this.... WOW! Awesome!

  • WOW

  • Im just going to finish it all and say: Nice Job.

  • Guys, its a fucking high school, they're not going to be next to the Philharmonic anytime soon. Chill out

  • Here's your argument in the form of a maths equation.

Quality of singer of Toto live, considering he 'can't sing live at all' = 0

Quality of this group is "WAY" better - let's put a hypothetical value of twice as good.

    Therefore:

    0 X 2 = 0

  • Sloppy. Poor rhythm and your elocution (overpronunciation) detracts from the effect of the arrangement.

  • Really?

These guys are very talented. Take your pointless and unbased snoberry somewhere else!

What an amazing performance! Keep up the good work!

  • How dare you call my snobbery pointless and unbased!

  • If you've seen any of the live perfomances by Toto available, you'd know this is WAY better, the singer of Toto can't sing live at all.

  • Another factor which discredits your argument is that it is based on relativity. You presuppose a judgment criteria of good and bad. However my argument is based purely on reader response theory. A value-judgment of this piece, in terms of its artistic merit, resides only with me. My comments expressed my response to the piece alone and not to any preordained notion of what it should live up to other than the mechanics of the form in which they were trying to perform in.

  • I'm really not sure why one would consider mechanics as an important factor unless one suffered form the unfortunate disposition of not being able to enjoy music if it's "mechanics" were not impeccable. I reccomend a good dose of laxitives to clear the obstruction and any ongoing musical constipation.

  • You further neglect the fact that i'm ripping the piss and am only responding to these comments as a brief respite from study! I still think it's an awful version of the song and the fact that so many people complement them is essentially patronising!

  • "Ripping the piss" is an unfortuanate phrase and not one I would expect from a hard working scholar, mathematician, and self confessed snob like your good self. In terms of the merit that should be awarded to this version of the song, I understand that it offends your sensibilities, but the fact that you seem to portray irritation to those who have a positive response to it confuses me somewhat and seems to make false the persona of "removed objectivity" that you otherwise present.

  • Moreover while it would be reasonable to assert a patronising attitude was being displayed if you yourself were to compliment this version, to use that description of others who compliment it when in fact they do like it is quite simply an incorrect use of the word patronising. But then I'm sure someone as learned as you actually realises that and was ony using it incorrectly to assess if those you were "ripping-the-piss" from had an intellect that came close to the dizzying heights of your own?

  • i do agree that on a few parts the men overpronounce their vowels, but i didnt find it sloppy

  • I was selected to be a part of a special choir at my school, and we are doing this! :)

  • i love the tenor(s)...especially during the chorus. hot!

  • WOOOOOOW.. amazing. good job there guys. we are learning this song right now and whew. challenging song. i love it.

  • Oh my jesus. This was sooo good.

There aren't words to explain my love of this arrangement.

  • Damn that one Tenor is excellent and knows his part extremely! Well done! This is not an easy song by any stretch of the imagination, great vocal percussion, very technically correct, and confident!

  • Our Vocal Jazz group started this arrangement, but it was a lost project... the King Singers are wonderful. I'd love to get back into a group again... looking for recruits? :D

  • One Word -WOW- and i think this song is really the best of the 80's songs ;]

  • oh my god . you guys make the song come alive , make the feeling explode of the song . absolutely brilliant. i favorited it and gave you 5 stars . the best choirest version of the song i heard on youtube . i love whatching the guy in the 2nd row last one one on the end. so cool . dancing there awesome hair . very artistic. cute to .

  • to the choir: where did you get your arrangement from???? i want to sing this with another choir, too. but i haven't got an arrangement. and your wAY of singing this song is very good =)

  • It is an arrangement by the King Singers. So I am sure that you can find it now with that important info given! thanks

  • thanks a lot!!

  • anytime

  • i wanna hear drums with the choir!!

  • A choir performed this same arrangement in Banff last year.

I love it, and I'm a band geek, rather than a choir geek.

  • I'm in the Baltimore County High School Honors Chorus and we're singing this exact arrangement. You guys did a great job!

  • GOOOOD job guyz nd girlt :D:D:D

  • good job

  • Uau! Wonderful version! Congratulations!

It's a pity that a soprano get slightly out of tune in a part of the song, but it's a really beatiful version! Cheers from Brazil !

  • Love this song, Altos are flat tho...

  • ohhh! i'm doing this arrangement in my choir too :) this song is soo cool. and this sounds really good!

  • Wow that sounds really good especially the chorus!

  • is this like a chamber.. or normal choir for your school?

  • kinda like chamber, it is actually an audition only group. Only a certain number of people are allowed in. So in a way yes it is like chamber

  • oo wow, you guyz did such a great job!

  • i love this song!!!!!!!

  • Very very nice!!!! Maybe the best version after Toto i`ve heared.

Now I`m waiting for Rosanna ;)

  • What a great song. What a great arrangement!!!
