Why? This was probably due to high competition for nest sites. The real problem is the pressure placed on these birds from non-native cavity nesters like house sparrows and starlings.
@zeze40video as opposed to in the wild where no one is around or in a persons yard where they could help them with housing predators etc. Am I wrong???

That's terrible, bluebirds seem to have a hard time especially in the wild.
