@streetbluez12 Downgrading back to iOS 3 would help with the overall speed performance though it has nothing to do with the "reception issues", to be honest I have iOS 4 running on my 3G and although its now a slug Im quite happy with it, I am going to keep it that way till I get the new iPhone 4 when it hits Australia. so basically its up to you keep it at iOS 4 or downgrade to iOS 3 your choice just keep in mind of app and library compatibly that takes affect during these changes.
Just made a video of my 3G going from 5 to 2 and back up. It is still running 3.1.3 though. I never have problems with it haha but just wanted to make a vid.
@giants22 Its good to know your not "suffering" from this "issue", Try to deliberately mask the lower left corner you might be able to reproduce this "issue". and if you notice other videos of the iPhone 4 there all mostly deliberately blocking the signal but the main point is that almost all mobile phones can have there signal blocked in the same manner, but I heard from the "grate vine" that there maybe be a simple software update to fix this on the iPhone 4...
Great video. Just purchased the iphone 4 and don't have any issues with it. I have tried everything and no signal loss. I made a video and posted it on my channel.
let's pull out all our iphones and make videos.

I don't lose any bars with my 3g and iOS4. This whole signal loss issue is very bizarre. But it IS happening to people. I believe it.
