The first time I heard this it was on Good Friday! I wept. I've seen Nicole Nordeman in concert and she was amazing! This goes out to Jaredlmesser who commented about being discerning, I believe Jesus is portrayed as self-sacrificing in His Death and maybe He didn't have this conversation w/God the Father. Yet, this is not scripture, it's inspirational music! I believe the message in this song is something many Christians have heard. That is; if there was only 1 to die for, He would have!

Jesus is portrayed as an unknowing, unwilling victim of the people; asking God to save Him while on the cross. The scriptures show this to be completely untrue. He did speak, but never these words. No. He was fully God and fully man, dying by intention with full understanding. This song does not elevate Christ, it diminishes Him.

This was someone who raised the dead, including Himself, walked straight past enemies on many occasions and they couldn't touch Him. He did not have to die, so why did He. I went to this christian camp this summer, and on the last day, it was Sunday so our cabin had communion. My awesome counselor sang this song and all my cabin started crying. Praise the Lord God Almighty for giving us His precious and perfect son.

I sang this song for a church talent show, but at the end where it says "Father please tell Me why, why does everyone want Me to die?", I sang "remind" instead of "tell". Just so it'd be more accurate..

@alyvia09 Me too! I love this song. It is SO touching! The first time I heard it was when someone named Shellie Webb came and sang it at my church. She didn't say who it was by, so i spent like 30 minutes looking up who sang it. :) Now I can not stop listening to it! :)

i cry or at least tear up every time i hear this song! i picture myself as the little girl and God telling Jesus that i'm the reason he must die! it makes me so sad how much we take for granted how much God loves us and how much he gives and puts up with from us! i am so grateful for my heavenly father and all he blesses me with!

My voice teacher at church handed the music for this to me the other day... I had never heard it before, so when we got to the last line, I was basically bawling! I'm singing it for Good Friday this year, and I'm just praying I don't start crying half way through!!

It hurt me..
It breaks my heart what Jesus did for us..
And it breaks my heart that few appreciate it.
Its time that Jesus gets some credit..
Im crying tears of pain and shame..
This is hurtful. And it only encourages me to be more like Jesus.
