  • 3:10 : Controller : United 876 your mother in law is here waiting for you

3:14 : Captain : Oh shit im out

  • @FLIGHTANIMATOR

    LOL! I knew it!!!

  • not too bad... the plane was still around a couple hundred meters in the air...

  • Boy, those GE or Rolls Royce engines on that 777 really get with the program ! How many hundreds of gallons of fuel went up in smoke in that 2 minute blast?

  • I work at O'Hare and witnessed an epic aborted landing during a storm today. MD-80 came in for a landing attempt and got to about 40-50 feet off the ground, got hit by a major crosswind, and the pilot hit full throttle and circled around to wait out the storm. This is a great catch of yours

  • @nobusan84 probly a plane on the runway

  • I sat next to you TPE-NRT last Friday.....wanted to look up your videos...interesting.....

  • Was it scary?

  • Abort Landing

  • It's Boeing 777-200ER PW

  • nice video thanks for sharing.. i had an experience of abort landing too but mine was a bit different, we actually touched ground then increase speed for take off at LAX on AC B767-200 way back in late 80s.. My dad was flying the airplane and it was a night time..My dad took my sister and I to LAX for one night..

  • was that a 777

  • @MyPilot747

    Yes. :)

  • i would have pissed my pants

  • Just awesome!!

  • Why does the pilot do a aborted landing?

  • @caillou1718 Its possible that he is too high on approach.

  • Great video! Thanks for posting! :)

  • why was there a go around? and seattle airport is awesome!

  • They probably had to abort because you had not stowed away your electronic device. Way to go pal lol. You almost killed everyone!

Just kidding lol. Great video. Loved it.

  • Cool Vid, you can sure tell when he hits the gas...

  • I experienced my first aborted landing last week in Heraklion, Crete. I was on a Monarch Airbus A300-600R flying from London Gatwick. The wind was very high and we approached way too fast forcing the pilot to abort moments from touchdown.

  • Great vid! I've only experienced once aborted landing aboard a CO 737 from MEX to IAH.

  • Great vid! I've only experienced once aborted landing aboard a CO 737 from MEX to IAH

  • The exact same thing happened to me when I was landing in Chicago after I went to Japan on JAL.... It took 1 hour, but we FINALLY landed :)

  • the captain normally says why they go around it wasnt for the cabain crew to say ppl will only panic even if its a rare thing to happen perhapes there was somthing on the runway

  • Cool aspect & nice video! :) I wish i could here the actual ATC transcripts....

  • hey great video should have done the go around too but great video though it Rocks!!!

  • @ELSTARBREAKER

Thanks for your comment! I actually have the go around video but it was boring so I didn't post it. :)

  • Brilliant vid. I experienced this last year on a Ryanair 738 landing at Toulon, South of France, its quite scary.

  • must be a woman... yesterday i was on board a plane that landed unbeliavably harsh and terrible. I hadent seen anything like that before it was a terrible delta landing. interestingly it was a lady pilot too...

  • how can this kind of airplane fly across pacific ocean?isn't that only 747 or 777 can make it?

  • @john4300111 You're looking at a 777, though many others can also. Delta made a ferry flight from NRT to SEA with a 757 not long ago, though it was of course weight restricted.

  • @john4300111 this is a 777, and technically a 737ER can make it across the pacific on any flight with a max range of 6,340miles, all though they are not used for most transatlantic/pacific flights.

  • lucky duck...

last year was the first time i experienced an aborted landing. We were going in to land at Honolulu from Narita when the engines were revved up because a plane behind us needed priority landing. The funny thing about the flight i was on was that our plane got struck by lightning on the same flight as well.

  • @hitachiota

That must have been an epic experience! I have a friend last year who was on the flight that struck by a lightning. She said it was loud... like a "bang". Did it sound like that when you plane got struck by a lightning?

  • @ 3:09, you can actually see the engine start to rev up again!

  • Very cool !!

  • @flyairberlin738

Thanks! I have to fly on Air Berlin someday :)

  • @Bretdgod Cool, Where are you flying?

    To Dusseldorf or Munich =)

  • @flyairberlin738

From Berlin Tegel to Helsinki; :)

  • @Bretdgod Funny =)

  • Love the sound of the GE-90's. Nice video.

  • @iceman13097

Hi Iceman, United uses PW engines. :)

  • Go arounds are procedural for the professionals flying the plane. If the plane had crashed I might just agree with idiot comments about the video, so based on all went well and the plane landed safely, any needle dick talking the go-around down should think about it next they are on a plane ride, having said that I doubt their DSS cheque or criminal check would allow them on a plane unless it is a 50 cent plane ride outside Toys-R-Us!

  • This is disgusting. As a pro-landing advocate, I think that aborting a landing is horrible. ABORTION OF LANDINGS IS WRONG!! xD That landing never got a chance to exist! Thousands of landings are aborted every month, the poor things!

  • @jeffsandychelsea Absolutely wrong, Pilots abort landing for the the safety of the passengers on board. For instance if there is traffic on the runway or if the pilot wasn't going to make the runway.

  • The power! Multi-million dollar aircraft filled with passengers and something is not right, you damn straight you go around again.

  • Why Was It ABorted?

  • Nice angle... nice vid :)

  • ive bet you were shiting bricks when that happen

  • A little puppy dog ran out on the runway so the pilots did the right thing....

  • very cool!

  • why did you go around?

  • omg i love those engine sounds! ;D

  • too high for approach?

  • Creca v-ati cacat pe voi ! ;-))

  • This is one of the best go-around videos I've ever watched on Youtube. Those roaring engines performed beautifully! Thank you for posting.

  • This is one of the best go-around videos I've ever watched on Youtube. Those roaring engines performed beautifully! Thank you for posting.

  • Pretty steep climb! I don't have a map of the airport but it looks like 777 is going in seconds to 2000 feet or so (?)

  • I didnt understand....why did she go around ? Couldn't hear the audio well...

  • Nice video, after long haul from Tokyo, this was done text book and just as they are trained to do, im sure not an easy task after such a long haul. Very modern and state of the art aircraft makes this task a bit more easier to perform, well done. Thanks for sharing...

  • @mau1101963

Not too hard to do, you push the little button marked TO/GA, AutoThrottle and A/P do the rest.. Go for the ride...

  • Comment removed

  • awesome a women pilot! don't see a lot now these days

  • Pretty sexist comment about a women flying the airplane, They go through the same training as men do. It says a lot that she is up there flying a 777 and where are you?

  • why exactly was there a go around?

  • No off course they can't - that's why each and every female airline pilot ever has crashed.

  • A bit sad United might move to Rolls Royce engines...the A350s they ordered only has RR and the 787s they ordered have a choice of RR or GE.

Personally, I think UA needs 747-8s

  • that's a pretty sweet view of the engine

  • awesome, love this, gotta love those United 777's

  • Check out that vapor at 3:09!

  • Awesome video. i have experienced two aborted landings so far. One just a week ago in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico on Airtransat airbus 310.

Which aircraft were you flying on?

  • Hi Harkamalchana! Thanks for your comments. I was flying on 777-200.

  • Simply awesome videos bretdgod!!! What was the reason for the go-around?

  • @coldstream07. Thanks for the comment! They never told us the reason for the go-around. All I heard over Channel 9 was "error". I thought there was a moose running around the runway or something.

  • Outstanding, deep roar of GE90 from 3:08.Very nice. I miss Channel 9 ;)

  • Hey 123miste, thanks for your comments! Actually, United 777's uses Pratt & Whitney engines. :)

  • Shame on me ;) Thanks for this correction. As far as I remember for this equipment engines outpus is similiar for GE, P&W and RR.

  • @123miste. They're all power engines. But, as far as I know, GE90 cranks out the most power and they're a wee bigger in size.

  • Depends on the application. All 3 engines have the same thrust rating for the 777-200, but the RR engine offering for the 777-200ER is rated higher than the GE90, as are the P&W and RR engines on the 777-300.

  • Very nice vid What kind of camera did you use????

  • Thanks Bob! I'm using Canon SD780 IS. It's a very simple and tiny p/s camera and it takes great 720P video! You can pick one up for about 190 bucks on Amazon.

  • all the "youtube pilots" wannabees crack me up! Too low, yoo high, it's called this or that. STFU!!!!

  • what happened ?

My dad is a pilot and he flies 777-200 to Narita Japan almost everyday

  • @lifeguardtrainingzz. They never mentioned on what happened but when I was listening to Channel 9, flight deck folks only said, "error"

  • @Bretdgod in otherwords they most likely came in a little high..there just not gonna say they messed up

  • those engines sound sooooo sexy

  • Was it the old or new livery?

  • Greetings 123cdecde, it was the old livery. :)

  • Isnt the new livery have a lighter blue on the engine?

  • @halo2windows. I think half of the United's 777 fleets are painted in new livery. I think by the end of 2010, they'll have the freshly painted toilet flush blue color on all them.

  • Super vid! The same thing happened to me in 2006 at Halifax aboard a Zoom 767! We were landing at midnight during a heavy rainstorm!

  • great video, what was the reason for the go-around

  • looks like he was coming in too high, you could see towards the end he was starting to dive a bit in order to land

  • Correction the new term is Flight Deck... Cockpit hasn't been used since the 70's dumb ass.... do your homework...

  • Lighten up. My Father flew for 40 years and always referred to it as the cockpit. Screw the proper terminology. It is what it is.

  • @edmonton67

well actually it was a woman flying so, instead of cockpit, it should have been a "box office" lol

  • lol women pilots. ridiculous.

  • A Go Around is definitely the right move for any source of doubt in the landing phase.

  • Nice !

  • awesome video ! love the sound !! 5/5*+ Favourite !

  • Thanks! :)

  • nice quality :).

  • Female or Male is irellevant. You don't get to be Captain or F.O. on a 777 unless you know what you are doing! there is probably 50 plus years of experience in that cockpit.

  • 50?? no i would think less. more like 25-30. the piloting age limit is 65 (correct me if im wrong) so 65-50=15. After staying w/ an airline for 50 years i would think you'd go till 65. so tht means they began piloting at 15ish. so no not 50 years.

  • Combined...combined...

  • He means that the length of service of both pilots combined is 50 years.

  • yup so?

  • so it shouldnt be allowed.

  • ummm why the fuck not? Why can't there be female pilots?

  • If they call it a "cockpit" when a man is flying the plane, what do they call it when a woman is flying the plane?

    Answer: The BOX OFFICE. Yukyukyuk.

  • because no balls no balance you idiot.

  • Comment removed

  • fuck you asswipe

  • that just sexist. they are just as good at many things as men are!

  • No. No they're not.

  • Pilot advised go round because of erroneous indication in the cockpit

  • haha, i guess i just forgott all about the classics

  • what was the reason for the go-around? i cant understand the cpt.

  • lol thanks

  • wheres the 727 and 717? ;)

  • that was incredible! 5/5 well done son

  • listen to those engines!!!

  • how does that cloud form over the wing at 3:34

  • its hot air turning cold instantly

  • Not quite. If you incorporated lift, pressure, velocity, and temperature into that, it would be much more accurate.

  • I love your username

  • Low pressure over the top of the wing makes the moisture in the air essentially turn into a quick cloud

  • a fantastic capture....congratulations....and...GO AROUND !

en mi pais se diria graciosamente....:

    "arranca ctm!....no alcanzamos a bajar !"

  • Hey Chinosk340, Thanks! I'm not sure if I should consider it "Lucky" though... it was definitely a WTH moment in my life. :)

  • Comment removed

  • Nice vid and lucky capture.

  • Very nice capture! Love the 'Well folks...'. So American. Don't try that here in the UK.

  • shame us brits are a bit more boring isn't it :/

  • Nothing fancy. Straight upload from my digital camera. I'm using Canon Powershot SD780. Takes great 720p movies. :)

  • There is no way that you seriously thought that this was from a flight simulator program...

  • eat a douche rangelso

  • The sound of that P&W engines is so amazing !! I love the 777 !!

  • Sound of pure power! :)

  • I think it's a 777

  • what airplane was it?

  • Hey Manu, it's a 777. :)

  • Wow. They managed to get alot of altitude really quickly. Scary. I would have opened the door and jumped out, screaming "f*ck that!" haha

  • LOL! that would be sooooo funny!

  • WOW. amazing quality!

  • I just had an aborted landing happen to me in Frankfurt, it scared the living daylights out of me!!!

  • What happened? I was listening to channel 9 and all the pilot said was, "error and we'll go around and try again".

  • How was Tokyo? I'm considering going next year.

  • Tokyo was great! Very hot and humid though :( ...

  • I never had a rejected landing experience and I fly on regular basis. Must be frustrating!

    Take care!
