Boy, those GE or Rolls Royce engines on that 777 really get with the program ! How many hundreds of gallons of fuel went up in smoke in that 2 minute blast?
Poverty in Seattle? This is a direct result of the greed of big corporations. Safweway is presently trying to grab control of liqour sales from Washington State. I work at O'Hare and witnessed an epic aborted landing during a storm today. MD-80 came in for a landing attempt and got to about 40-50 feet off the ground, got hit by a major crosswind, and the pilot hit full throttle and circled around to wait out the storm. This is a great catch of yours
nice video thanks for sharing.. i had an experience of abort landing too but mine was a bit different, we actually touched ground then increase speed for take off at LAX on AC B767-200 way back in late 80s.. My dad was flying the airplane and it was a night time..My dad took my sister and I to LAX for one night..
I experienced my first aborted landing last week in Heraklion, Crete. I was on a Monarch Airbus A300-600R flying from London Gatwick. The wind was very high and we approached way too fast forcing the pilot to abort moments from touchdown.
the captain normally says why they go around it wasnt for the cabain crew to say ppl will only panic even if its a rare thing to happen perhapes there was somthing on the runway
must be a woman... yesterday i was on board a plane that landed unbeliavably harsh and terrible. I hadent seen anything like that before it was a terrible delta landing. interestingly it was a lady pilot too...
@john4300111 You're looking at a 777, though many others can also. Delta made a ferry flight from NRT to SEA with a 757 not long ago, though it was of course weight restricted.
@john4300111 this is a 777, and technically a 737ER can make it across the pacific on any flight with a max range of 6,340miles, all though they are not used for most transatlantic/pacific flights.
last year was the first time i experienced an aborted landing. We were going in to land at Honolulu from Narita when the engines were revved up because a plane behind us needed priority landing. The funny thing about the flight i was on was that our plane got struck by lightning on the same flight as well.
That must have been an epic experience! I have a friend last year who was on the flight that struck by a lightning. She said it was loud... like a "bang". Did it sound like that when you plane got struck by a lightning?
Go arounds are procedural for the professionals flying the plane. If the plane had crashed I might just agree with idiot comments about the video, so based on all went well and the plane landed safely, any needle dick talking the go-around down should think about it next they are on a plane ride, having said that I doubt their DSS cheque or criminal check would allow them on a plane unless it is a 50 cent plane ride outside Toys-R-Us!
This is disgusting. As a pro-landing advocate, I think that aborting a landing is horrible. ABORTION OF LANDINGS IS WRONG!! xD That landing never got a chance to exist! Thousands of landings are aborted every month, the poor things!
@jeffsandychelsea Absolutely wrong, Pilots abort landing for the the safety of the passengers on board. For instance if there is traffic on the runway or if the pilot wasn't going to make the runway.
Nice video, after long haul from Tokyo, this was done text book and just as they are trained to do, im sure not an easy task after such a long haul. Very modern and state of the art aircraft makes this task a bit more easier to perform, well done. Thanks for sharing...

@coldstream07. Thanks for the comment! They never told us the reason for the go-around. All I heard over Channel 9 was "error". I thought there was a moose running around the runway or something.
Depends on the application. All 3 engines have the same thrust rating for the 777-200, but the RR engine offering for the 777-200ER is rated higher than the GE90, as are the P&W and RR engines on the 777-300.
Thanks Bob! I'm using Canon SD780 IS. It's a very simple and tiny p/s camera and it takes great 720P video! You can pick one up for about 190 bucks on Amazon.
@halo2windows. I think half of the United's 777 fleets are painted in new livery. I think by the end of 2010, they'll have the freshly painted toilet flush blue color on all them.
Female or Male is irellevant. You don't get to be Captain or F.O. on a 777 unless you know what you are doing! there is probably 50 plus years of experience in that cockpit.
