xsplit lets you capture the screen too, so why do i need dxtory? i have tried streaming once but it didnt capture the game like yours did, it captures my desktop and my game was windowed so it looked like crap..
@KadishProductions That also happens to me sometimes. (Yup, me again :D), but then when I watch the video afterwards, it doesn't lag. Try watch one of your videos after you've streamed. If it still skips, it's either because your internet simply is too slow to stream OR your streaming settings is set to stream at a low FPS count. :)
i followed exactly what you did and double and triple checked but when i press my dxtory hot key nothing happens. It works for file output but just not direct show
@AidenLees this is exactly what is happening to me. I set it all up, directshow output checked, etc, but xsplit, flash media encoder, etc all show a blank black screen after pressing the hotkey. In-game, when I press the hotkey, nothing happens. The numbers also still stay green. File Output unchecked, DirectShow Output checked.
@Merilon3 Update: I found out I can stream only when I have File Output checked, meaning I am saving the recording while streaming... Are you able to JUST stream? Just have DirectShow Output?
Great video! Very helpful. The only issue I have is that it seems DXtory crops my image at 1280 by 720. Very strange because it's the same size I play, record and stream.
@ReyBilingue Just double check that in game resolution is at 1280x720, also try using the percent option as well at 100% and see if that gets an uncropped video. I was talking to someone on twitter with the same problem a couple days ago and they finally did a reinstall of dxtory and that fixed the issue for them.
@miyaguitube I don't understand why but if the game is in fullscreen even if using dxtory, xsplit will crash. I use dxtory to capture because in my experience it seems to be more efficient than xsplits screen capture method and I can get a high quality recording at the same time as well. I've always left the core affinity alone, if you did want to mess with that I''d probably say 1 dxtory, 1 game and 2 xsplit. Xsplit encoding the video on the fly is probably going to be the biggest resource user
I see you overclocked your CPU, what did you set dram, volts and all to?:) please, mine isn't entirely stable yet. I have an i5 750 2.67 GHz ~ overclock 3.8 GHz
@MrSmachies also wanted to mention, xsplit does have a fullscreen game mode that is in I think they say Alpha testing. However to use it I believe you have to buy a license, and it very buggy right now and only works with some games. Maybe something to consider or at least look in to.
@MrSmachies xsplit claims fullscreen will happen at some point, I hope its soon. You may want to try Flash Media Encoder Live, it'll do full screen, disadvantages are xsplit handles sound better and in my experience does the encoding better as well. The best streaming software is actually Procaster, but you can only use it on Livestream(dot)com and to stream in high quality you have to pay. Right now it seems there are good solutions for streaming but no great solutions.
@MrSmachies only things I can think of are make sure Directshow is checked in dxtory, the game is windowed, you added dxtory as a camera source in xsplit, and you have pressed the hot key to start recording/capturing. If you've done all that, maybe try on a different game if possible. Once you start recording are you doing directshow and save to file? If so is a video file created? If not seems like a dxtory issue, if the file is being created seems like an xsplit issue.
@regardsgiveway lol, btw did you get everything working, I've been meaning to get back to you on skype from a couple days ago about streaming but every time you are online I'm not or I'm about to go offline. If you still need some help hit me up again.
@Dregonized I tried shiftwindow once and didn't like it, my mouse cursor kept leaving the game and ending up on my desktop. I think it happened when it went to the bottom of the screen and hit the task bar. I might give it another try, and see if I can get use to it and avoid doing that.
Thanks for making the video! I cna get everything working including the video streaming into Xsplit...but I can't get it to actually stream on ustream or justin.tv. The stream is "Live" but its just an image of a black screen. Any idea? D:
How do i get my fullscreen game into xsplit? i set all Dxtory settings like in video and when i run game.. it shows up in target... what am i doing wrong?
@brianw0601 that is the current downfall of xsplit, it won't do fullscreen games, they have to be windowed, they claim that may change in the future. But for right now, the game has to be windowed, depending on the game, you might be able to put the game in window mode, no border full screen and it'll basically be full screen, or just arrange the window so that you can hardly see the border. There is also a program called shiftwindow that will window things for you, I tried it and didn't like it
@Mornaas If aren't gettting an image it seems like it might be a dxtory problem. Make sure you have directshow selected in dxtory and that you start capturing by pressing your record hot key there. Those are the things that immediately come to mind.
@TheMReVoTube never used a dazzle, but if you are using a dazzle dxtory would not help you at all. You may be able to add the dazzle as a video source in xsplit but I'm not sure. Otherwise you'll have to have your capture program displaying what the dazzle is capturing in a window and then use xsplits screen capture functions to capture that window. Like I said never used a dazzle so I am unsure the best way to deal with it for streaming.
@SilverOnRs Are you getting any sound at all from any sources? I've never tried playing music myself, but as long as your music player is set to output to your default audio device, I believe it should just detect it automatically. Or you could set the microphone device to which every sound device your music player is sending sound to.
When i live stream cod 4 in windowed mode the stream just will just freeze on the setting up game screen

KadishProductions 1 week ago
@KadishProductions It might be because you let Xsplit disable your Aero theme. You can change that under general settings.

Or did you confuse yourself with MiB and Mb like everyone else? ^^

is it better to use dxtory than xsplit? or do u use them both? or how is it?
MageDb0w 3 months ago
Keep the hard work, great couple of tutorials, very in depth and complete. Although I got a couple of questions:
-I thought the idea of using DXtory's directshow was to be able to play at fullscreen. Doesn't Xsplit stream natively from windowed games?
-What about core afinity, do you set it up for 2core Dxtory, 1core game, 1core Xsplit or something like that? Would that work?
