@overbrookXXX Kaplan himself confirmed he played a Buescher for the date.
Yeah, tenor/bari Buddy Lucas was BIG, own singles from early ‘50s to mid ‘60s. Even sang on The Enchanters (Jubilee, 1952?) birthday song. Big in studio work, on big hits - like Maybe, Chantells ‘57). May be tenor on Why Do Fools Fall In Love, The Teenagers, tho it may be Jimmy Wright.
Buddy Lucas and the Wigglers had a UA LP out in 1966, and he did play One Fine Day on it - on harmonica! :I:
Read the extraordinary warnings of prophet Linda Newkirk

"One Fine Day" was originally sung by Little Eva and was to be released on the Dimension label. When that fell through, Carole King brought the finished master to Laurie Records who erased Eva's vocal and recorded over it with the Chiffons. And about that famous piano intro, a "professional" piano player had been hired for the original backing session but he just couldn't play it the way Carole wanted it. So she dismissed him and did it herself.
@sprague49 You would be very interested in reading "Halfway To Paradise" by Tony Orlando. It's his life story and a whole lot about the music business back then. Also of interest would be "Dream Lovers" by Dodd Darin, the bittersweet story of Bobby Darin and Sandra Dee. (Both available at amazon.com - fairly cheap.)
I would like to say a thing to those who would only hope to spread hate and division here. As the comments state and if you haven't noticed this world is by far multi racial and full of beautiful and wonderful people , And i have had the honor to meet and fall in live with quite a few of them. I only hope that through the growing pains this country has gone through we will ALL strive to be better people and learn to love each other not for the sake of skin color but for who we are.L8tr
I think its a beautiful song and anyone who can only think of it as when women and minorities knew their place and then to call someone else ignorant needs to get their head out of their arse.
@crystalame HA..I find it funny how your try to start a fight with someone you don't even know over a comment that's MY business. Did I offend you in any way? No. Do you have any idea why I said this comment? No. So..embarrassing to who? Why do you care what I say/think? It'd be stupid if I said this comment implying what you said, since I'm a woman and a minority. But anyway, those days weren't all bad, and in some ways, better than this era. So shut up and mind your own business, THANKS. :)
Check out the charts for 1963. I consider it the BEST year for music. Crystals, Ronettes, Chiffons, Shirelles, Beach Boys, Beatles etc etc etc.
