  • 26 seconds in and already I hate the voiceover.

  • be put in hospital themself been encased the pycho ,, not compfort --> loss appetite

  • That Doctor is a knob.

  • aw man i had a friend who was in the hospital due to anorexia. Believe me, it is VERY hard to get out of it. It's like any other mental health issue, you can't just snap out of it. You need lots of therapy and sometimes medication. I need meds to control my depression, it's the same thing. Imagine not having control of your own mind.

  • @mickblock you have no idea what its like

  • I have white girl problems

  • Comment removed

  • @TheVannahbanana1 No, I too have first-world problems

  • These days, part of a program for ED victims right now would be a little internship in Somalia or Ethiopia. My sister is still somewhat suffering from ED at 36 years old, but her work in Mauritania 11 years ago changed her perspective on what is important in life. Holding a dying kid in your arms tends to make you forget about what others think of you. Also, being able to save lives enables oneself to finally understand how much power we truly have upon our own lives.

  • @hu6h057 At first, I was honestly about to jump to the conclusion that you were going to say seeing people who can't afford to eat would change our perspective. But after fully reading your comment, I think it really does sound like a good idea. I hope if I am to recover, I will (possibly) have the opportunity to do that so it could almost reassure that what I did was for the best.

  • actually, 100 percent will die; annnouncer's writer/s should have written 20 percent will have health related injuries from the disease and will result in earlier death. i don't understand this disease at all, but i do know for a fact there are meds that would cause food cravings. examples anti-depressants like remerol, high estrogen dosages, even pot.

  • @susanbcork the thinness is just the physical sign of what's going on in the mind and the only thing keeping her alive - gaining weight would only be more palatable to those around her..but she wouldn't cope, that would be the end of her.

  • It's really hard for the patients to believe they'll be okay when they have obese people feeding them mysterious concoctions

  • ughh where can i watch the rest of this for free?

  • @godblesshardcore i suffered through it

  • omg this is the exact same hospital i was at last month! and that dickhead doctor is still there ten years later. This is really weird watching this.

  • @fortuna068 How would you say i should this?

got any tips or examples which i could try on her or she could try out?

  • That Doctor Is An Ass Hole.

  • My GF is suffering from this. How do i help her?!? it's ruining her life!

    PLEASE HELP!

  • @bridgestone10 go to a hospital asap

  • I think there should be a pre-requisite for working in the field of eating disorders: People that have already had an eating disorder and overcome it. Seriously most of documentaries I've watched have these psychologists or social workers that are patronising and condescending. It may be unintentional but you cant understand this without going through it

  • lambarini, you should feel sorry for them. These girls are not just trying to get attention, nor are they just wanting to be selfish, they have a problem that they cannot control, therefore just as difficult as any human with a destructive disorder

  • By the way, is this statement from a neuro-psychiatrist?

  • The continuesly talk about "lack of fat to the brain makes you depressed." Ok... So why do the liver produce ketones to break down fat, if the body has "non" fat?

  • that's so cheap...have to pay to watch the rest of it...what kind of nonsense is that

  • ok that doctor has no idea wh'at the hell he is doing. you dont comment on the fat that needs to be restored or sayin "your gaining as much as the other two have lost !" like wat the heck is he thinkin!??

  • It's kinda funny to me that people with ED are drawn to these ED documentaries. I personally have been damned near obsessing over them for the past few days, watching little else. Shameful but true. And you see the same people commenting on most of them. Why do we watch this stuff?

Personally, it makes me feel better. Strange, huh? But I can look at these girls that are skeletal and say "I'm not like THAT so maybe what I'm doing isn't as bad." It's sad but very true.

  • why are most anorexia nurses overweight? :P seems kind of ironic, that could be an eating disorder too. (eating too much)

  • @omsnaga lol it is :)

  • Eating disorders suck, but I wanna be skinny D:

  • having those words across the screen is so fucking obnoxious and annoying.

  • People will always judge by appearance. I have the opposite effect, the typical beer belly syndrome, caught flu and put on loads of weight. One of the worst places to live with the judgemental bellends of Swansea people. I understand you pain because it's the same thing.

  • Guru 33

I have anorexia. I display bulimic tendencies. And I've been in this program in Sydney childrens hospital randwick. You have NO idea what it's like to want to kill yourself for eating a cookie or making yourself throw up lettuce.

We struggle everyday and fight everyone around us everyday.

Dont judge until you've been in this situation

  • @midgetteXD VERY true..it's NOT a choice...not at all, and it makes me so mad when those who have no idea what this is like judge us. Do they really believe that I WANT this..or that I have wanted this for almost 25 years now! would they tell a patient with schitzophrenia that they should get over themselves and stop hearing voices? It's a mental health issue..and NOT a choice!

  • @GoddessOfDuality hahah i agree dude like wut the fuck all they are doing is killing themselves sooo why not just blow ur brains out n stop suffering n holding ur famlies hostage while ur alive

  • they should be sent to africa to see wut its like to really starve to death and then see if they would take their life for granted as much as the do now

  • @GuruPePe33 do you think they WANT to be like this? They have a mental illness. The same as someone with schizophrenia or BPD. They dont chose to think they way they do. And they certainly shouldnt be sent somewhere that would make them feel even worse for having a disease they have no control over.

  • @GoddessOfDuality Shut the fuck up. They have a mental disorder, that does NOT give you the right to say that about them just because your too much of a lowlife, selfish jerk who does not understand the condition their in. To you it may seem easy for them to start eating or what not, but to them it is the hardest thing they can do. You wouldn't say something mean to someone with Cancer would you? So why to an anorexic. They are both serious diseases and many people die from them every year.

  • I want to be as skinny as her....

  • Is it just me or is that doctor an asshole?

  • I dont understand how treatments units like this never seems to understand that this is not the way to kill the anorexia. My guess is that most of the girls will get even more sick. And that could be avoided with people listening to them understanding why they need their anorexia. They are already fighting a diasease, they dont need to fight a system, telling them they are helping, as well.

  • the doctor seems very sympathetic

  • if i was told i had to stay in hosptal untill i become a fat ugly bitch then i would run out the door and say im never going back!!!!!

  • That doctor is an asshole. Pointing out 1 gained and the others lost. Imagine how she felt. Asshole.

  • Fat in the brain? Lack of fat in the brain causing depression? What the fuck is that guy talking about? <_<

  • @LuniaVideo not lack of fat as in flab, but the brain lacks fats during self- starvation. and duh you have fats in your brain, you cannot live without fats

  • @simcityesque what about people as young as four being diagnosed with anorexia? You're an arsehole.

  • seriously, they need to be sent to a place where people face hunger every day. i understand this is a mental illness theyre not just doing this for fun. i pray for people who have to face this.

  • @linket88 Congratulations; You've found a way to be completely useless while feeling like you're doing something helpful.

  • @linket88 Bloody hell, when will people realize that it's not about that. Food has nothing to do with it. Control is everything. Perfection is everything. (perfection in a way that says 'one day I'll be so beautiful, no one will hurt me again.') Saying something like what you said just shows your ignorance about the disease.

  • i understand i do liquid fasting diet and burn all my calories up i run on 500 a day u get used to not eating

  • portishead - roads

  • Saw this video in class. Very moving.

What is the song at the beginning? It's very nice - does anyone know the name? It sounds familiar.

  • I really like the doctor. He looks faithful and I guess he is ;)

  • the opening song suits perfectly.

  • How did you guys watch?

  • It seems that this disorder is more prevalent in well-fed prosperous countries. Anorexia/Bulimia doesn't seem to be an issue in countries where food is scarce or precious.

  • @CornerStoneEquesSvcs well obviously not. When food is plenty, starving yourself is a choice, not a way of life. And in prosperous well-fed countries "skinny" is portrayed as beautiful or ideal whereas in poorer nations it is the other way around.

  • " will will have the opposite problem and we will end up with the old cliche...Be careful what we "FAT AMERICA" wish for! We may become the skinniest, sickly nation in the world. No pun intended but....food for thought?

  • I was wondering...is this a product of our society? Are the people of today...all of there dis-functional, insecure actresses and runway models literally pushing us to be "Healthier" or "thinner??" I feel so sorry for these people if thats the case. Look back a few years. Like in the 50's and on even in to the late 80's. Beauty, the "hour glass" figure. Where has it gone? If we as a society do not change (NOT SAYING TURN A BLIND EYE TO THE IRONY OF THE USA BEING THE FATTEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD

  • i need help. i've recovered once and then no one liked me the way i was without my ed.??? fuck!

  • "well alyssa's gained as much as the other two have lost..."

WHAT! You do NOT say that to a person with an eating disorder. That's the worst thing you can say.

  • @TheBrennaChannel

I know that this doctor is the best in Australia.. Why? He has treated both my sister (the girl crying on the floor at the beginning - Alyssa) and my brother. If you have a degree in medicine and specialise in mental disorders I would believe yur comment. I am not trying to sound rude but this man has saved lives.

The mentality of the girls is broken down whilst they're in there (the hospital). The medical staff assist in rebuilding through obscure affirmation.

  • @TheBrennaChannel exactly wat i thought!!!

  • Anorexia is a terrible disease to have to live with I stuggle with this disease and I dont know how these girls are going through this treatment. They probably are so scared and ashamed, and depressed omg. god bless.

  • also affects males too not just females. fyi

  • I would like to know why people who are so completely ignorant of eating disorders are even watching these. It is not about food. It is not about how often your parents told you you were pretty. It's not about any of that. Its a disorder. It is extremely painful and simply eating is not a cure. Please if you don't know what its like to have it keep your mouth shut. You don't understand at all.

  • seriously they dont look anorexic at alll. I look kinda like them, and I am definetly not anorexic. I weigh 112 pounds and i am 15. sooo i really dont know, i think thats healthy ?????

  • @tiggerey12 it also depends on height & bone structure.

  • @tiggerey12 it depends how tall you are and muscle/fat ratio, but that sounds about right.

  • @tiggerey12 if u are naturallly thin, u wont look anorexic like they do even if u are the same weight. also depends on ur height and the structure of your bones and also ur muscle mass. for example, i am 5'1 and also 15 and i weigh around 110 lbs. i'm slim but healthy, and i have a pretty small bone structure. i do have fat, but i also have a high muscle mass. so it all depends

  • white people die from hunger, but they have food....

    wow

  • @RBG02005

yet so do black people. in fact, one of my very dearest best fruends was black and died from 'complications due to anorexia nervosa. she was in and out of hospitals for 2 years. her heart was so weak i remember how scared i felt when i'd look@the monitor n see her heartrate was 34-41. her heart gave out 4 years ago, at 17.

  • @miamirose2002

I'm sorry for your loss. I guess I'm more mad at the parents. If you have a child, especially a daughter, you must reinforce the fact that she's beautiful.

  • @RBG02005 my parents told me everyday that I was beautiful and that I was too good for everyone else. They continued to be loving and tell me how gorgeous I was EVERYDAY in therapy. They tell me how sweet and kind and unique I am still, and yet, I still have an eating disorder. It has nothing to do with the parents, not always.

  • @RBG02005 ABSOLUTELY NOT. Reinforce the fact that she's smart, funny, creative, talented. De-emphasize her appearance while boosting her self esteem. Anorexics don't starve themselves for beauty, otherwise they would stop when they look like models and not continue until resembling concentration camp victims.

  • @RBG02005 you obviously don't know anything about eating disorders then.

  • @RBG02005 First of all, it's not that simple. They don't just suddenly die of hunger. It's an emotional problem which is as serious as any other problem. And second, it's not just white people that have eating disorders. Get your facts straight.

  • @RBG02005 its a mental illness like drug addiction, its rather hard to understand

  • why the big Journeyman advert across the top? It is VERY annoying!

  • i defo feel sorry for this eating disorder. what anoys me tho loads of people help and feel sorry for people who starve themselves, but what about the people that cant stop eating? they just called fattys and pigs and get told to go on a diet, but its just as hard for over eaters the same for anorexic people.

  • @lambarini

i think its still harder for people who under eat, when someone over eats, they are eating their feelings and cant stop. with someone who is anorexic or bulimic you either get the same thing and then the guilt that is so bad it makes you purge, or you're to afraid to eat - in addition to both they are convinced they are fat. someone can change their eating habits a lot easier than changing the way they think of their body

  • @lambarini I agree with this completely asf well...either way and eating disorder is an eating disorder and either way it causes depression and other issues.

  • @lambarini It's true that the general public are complete assholes to binge/over eaters, but it's not true that they get less help. A best friend of mine had binge eating disorder and she got a lot of help from her GP, a therapist AND eating disorder specialists. The professionals take all eating disorders as seriously, but normal people can be such dicks.

  • @lambarini Yep. Some people just stuff their faces and sit on their asses, but a lot of people just have a binge eating disorder.

So fucked up about society's beauty standards in that so many women gauge their worth by their worth.

Women are expected to be thin, still have breasts and a butt, remove ALL their body hair save their brows, eye lashes, and scalp hair.

It's disgusting and women are just as much to blame since we go along with it. So many girls (and guys) are getting sick and dying!

  • @lambarini

The people who have binge eating disorders also get treatment. Anorexia is most of the time a more common and serious case.

  • @lambarini true

  • @lambarini I see eating disorders as a spectrum as well. You have many extremes: eating too little or eating too much & then there is the purging & the such. Some people also need to understand that people who suffer from eating disorders don't have just one single disorder. There are people who suffer from anorexia & bulimia. I think when people realize how complex eating disorders are, the closer we are to curing ALL forms of eating disorders. Anyways you posted a great comment, thanks. Peace.

  • @lambarini ----GOOD COMMENT...There is prejudice in that aspect, you're absolutely right. People feel SORRY for anorexics, yet RIDICULE obese people.

  • @giaisbomb people most likely feel comfortable doing so because they associate starvation as a painful debilitating activity, and eating as a pleasurable activity. The anorexics suffer, the obese indulge. There are also a myriad of social stigmas associated with both conditions, namely that being too skinny is often synonymous with poverty or mental illness, that being fat is synonymous with being wasteful and lazy, etc. There is a tipping point, though, for the most morbidly obese.

  • @godthisisannoying ---Yeah you're right. Problem could be solved by people giving out love instead of their usual hate. Also judging others, I hate that. People should watch out on judging others---something could come back on them, and they will be put into their place!!!

  • @lambarini binge eating is an eating disorder. it is looked at in the same light as anorexia or bulimia. they also have treatments for it as well. maybe you should do research, for you are kind of an idiot.

  • @loganaw dont call me an idiot.

  • @loganaw By society most people dont see BED as a real eating disorder. Some dont see bulimia as a real one too.

  • Comment removed

  • @lambarini I've been struggling with food, over eating. It's driving me nuts. I hate it and I want it to stop but I don't have the tools. I feel stuck.

  • @loved2bethin I have Binge Eating Disorder and I seek recovery. It is hard as hell, but it provides the tools to help

  • @lambarini I've always felt the same way!

  • @lambarini That is so true...i was a compulsive overeater and went up to 280 pounds and now, i suffer from bulimia and anorexia and it's just as hard to live like this...i wish things were easier and better for those of us who suffer ed's but, it just isn't...thanks for the comment you left.

  • @lambarini are you one of those others that don't receive recognition?

  • @lambarini ahh ok. Its nice to know that people without an eating disorder can feel as compassionate as you do :)

  • thank god i got better

  • 0:01 to skip adverts.

Like to put to top of video for others to use

  • Good god, I make myself sick. I'm sitting here, watching this, and wishing I could be all of these girls. Why can't I just be happy with my body? I'm 180 pounds and I'm addicted to food. I cry all the time. I just cant stop. Its been like this since I was 5, eating even when I'm not hungry. I need serious help.

  • @goodbyegoodbye27 if you are not hungry, why eat? Theres no way to restrict yourself?

  • @xXBronzedBalletXx No. I just cant stop myself. I wish I could, truely. But I hate myself for not being able to stop.

  • @goodbyegoodbye27 hmmm... well good luck. :/ try to get help though.

  • @goodbyegoodbye27 i wish i was like this too..don't worry..

  • @goodbyegoodbye27 you have an eating disorder, and you are harming yourself just as much emotionally. Try overeaters anonymous..I have heard wonderful things about this group...even anorexia and bulimia sufferers attend these meetings to learn about how to deal with emotions and stress without turning to food from comfort...

  • @goodbyegoodbye27 for real? .......... its food ok ?

your not addicted to food if you are that means you have nothing in your life like a hobby because most girls don't that dont like themself's

  • @sk8forlifebitch that's not true just cuz you don't struggle like she does, does not give you the right to judge.

  • @goodbyegoodbye27 you're not alone, i feel the same way.

  • @goodbyegoodbye27 You DON'T want to be like THOSE girls ! I'm 5' 3" and 165 , I like it because Im comfortable and know I'll NEVER have to deal with what they go through!

I find it easy to lose a big of weight by drinking A LOT of water and cutting out things like pop ! Don't get down on yourself, we're all beautiful big or small!

  • fuck youtube adverts

  • You do not tell other patients what the other patients weights have done. It helps neither of the patients, either makes them more depressed and therefore more likely to relaspe. Or it makes them become more competitive.....

So the whole "You have gained what the other two have lost comment" Was completely unacceptable. If someone had said that while I was in hospital, I would have been absolutely mortified.

  • everytime i put food in my mouth....my head is calculating its calories...everytime i eat more than 500calories a day i feel guilty so i try to even eat less the next day....but i'm asian though...so i'm naturally petite....still....i think i'm anorexic

  • @sgrace07 yes, you are. seek help. god bless.

  • @LimeBlueJeans it's embarassing to seek help for this....i'm getting better though...i think....i eat 800 calories a day now and i plan to continue eating more if i can... =) but anorexic thoughts are still there~ thanks for the blessings

  • take em to Longhorn, and take a big steak ant put it in front of them.

  • @Proflutzn If you think that'd 'cure' them, you are incredibly ignorant.

  • i'm not white and i recovered from bulimia... it is possible, it's been about two years and i've had a few slip ups but none this year. i run two miles everyday and i've got to say it's freaking easy if you eat. i feel great and actually like my body so good luck to you all :)

  • Comment removed

  • i would freakin break down if i walked in and some doctor called me boring.

  • I don't know why, maybe it's because the camera makes you look bigger, but these girls don't look thin at all? They look really normal, so I can see why they would not want to gain any more weight.

  • Какой ужасс,девушки просто сходят с ума в борьбе за желанные 90*60*90

  • when i was a teen i was in the westmead ward where those girls are and all i felt they did was get your weight up and that's it. Once your over 18 you can go to the westmead day program and that's much more helpful and when i wish to recover again then ill go back.

  • The staff here seens SO more supportive and professional than at Renfrew. (see THIN documentary).

  • Eating disorders are learned over time, and one has to re learn the complete opposite of the disorder which takes months or years. those who have never suffered one can not comprehend the true devastation it inflicts. I feel so bad for those suffering, and if i have any advice it is simply do not give up on yourself...if you are unsure or curious, feel free to ask me anything. i am a very open person.

  • the sad part is a lot of people don't realize EDs are not about food at all. Not eating is a symptom. I suffered anorexia and bulimia for 13 years. I still struggle, but am doing great. I don't believe the ed goes away for good, but will always be there under the skin. anorexia has the highest death rate out of any mental disorder.

  • i feel so bad for these girls. I suffer from BPD and I thought my problems were bad. It just goes to show you that there is always someone else in the world who has it worse than you. I couldn't imagine not wanting to eat. I sympathize with these young ladies in trouble..but if I was a doctor I wouldn't try to make food such a big deal..it's just food. But then again..I'm not anorexic..

  • i feel so bad for these girls. I suffer from BPD and I thought my problems were bad. It just goes to show you that there is always someone else in the world who has it worse than you. • this is disturbing. it makes me think there is nothing available for people with ED. god that poor girl being placed in front of those doctors lined up like American Idol Judges, grilling her about her weight. how is that theraputic?

EATING DISORERS ARE NOT ABOUT THE WEIGHT.

and if they see that she is eating healthy and taking her ensures and doing all the things she needs to be doing they should not be getting on her about her weight.

  • you are so right, it's a desperate cry for help and love

  • You are so right ! - this is really not conducive to her getting healthy

  • @gsdsl what has this to do with children starving in africa or else where? you can put it the other way around you know. at least we know what hunger and starvation is and don't take anybody's food away. you fucking asshole.

  • @gsdsl

its a mental illness you dumb ass

  • This doctor is not going to help them by forcing people to eat against their will. Bandaid solution - typical stupid and useless medical system.

  • @VanillaFresh76

Research has shown that eating disorders exist in many countries, including non-western countries.

  • lol,, add about dont want adds anYmoRE!

  • This ain't bad, I only see someone being consequent and saying the truth which is very very important not only in this case. I think some of the girls feel some consequences for the first time of their lifes.

  • the truth is that the doctors have to be tough and give consequences.... because the end consequence for these girls is death

  • The girls dont need a *bad guy* they just need someone they can trust and that they know is looking out for them.

  • your right...

  • PinkGrapes out your ass

  • I think he is doing a good Job!!

  • I want to lose bit of weight.. but after watching videos like this one, I'm not so sure.

  • Ask your doctor how much u need to lose (if u need to lose any ) and just go bye tht dont starve yourself Just eat lese Junk Food and belive it or not u need to eat (a snack) every 2 hours so when u do just make it fruite (:

  • God, I hate that Doctor! He SUCKS! What a fucking prick!

  • Wouldn't that doctor, talking to them girls like that, only make them worse? when some people are depressed they DON'T eat. :/ So would that approach help at all??

  • you dont understand that people with eating disorders are very secretive and often manipulative, because thats the only way they can continue. this doctor knows that, and is trying to show them that he cannot be manipulated. they need this tough love, and if he wont be the "bad guy", who will???

  • Im 5,9 and 8 1/2 and those woman make me feel fat :/

  • i want to punch that guys lights out.

  • THAT DOCTOR HAS SAVED MANY PEOPLES LIVES. inc mine... so back the fuck off.

  • @cloemaree right.......

  • i remember watching a short film about a young girl suffering from anorexia. the story was told through her eyes so we got to see how how she lived her life from the moment she got up to when she went to sleep. i never forgot what she looked like when she stared into the mirror at the end.
