In my opinion along with Queen, The Beatles, Led Zepp, Pink Floyd etc 10cc are up there with the best ever to have come out of the UK...outstanding musicians
Thanks so much for posting this. I love this song and Eric. It was great to hear him talk. I listen to it everyday when I get up. It starts my day off.
Absolute masterpiece - hands down the best engineered record of the 70's. Pick an adjective - beautiful, haunting, original - they all fit. I think it still sounds incredibly fresh and surprisingly undated. Thanks for the post.
An interesting twist...??? I've read somewhere that the song was such an obvious love song, so therefore they (Creme and Godley didn't wanted to do a honey-dripping love song) turned it all around (with their special 10cc humour) and made it "I'm not in love"...
this is one of one of the most haunting songs of all times .used to lay in bed with my wife and hear this song on radio back then.when we went to bed.we were having troubles and about to break up. somehow this song let me know that she would never be mine again.
Agreed! This song was truly haunting in a darkly beautiful way.. It seems the guy is in denial.. I'm not in love.. but I totally am.. This song has won a special place in my heart.
i was going through some bad times too me and my wife got seperated for the first time,,and even though we had got back together,,we used to leave the radio on and i would hear this song.somehow i knew that we would not be together too much longer.this song had a hidden meaning like he was shunning the girl ,,but she was really breaking up with him.this song helped me get through my hard times and it will always haunt me
He sings beautifully all the way through the original Soundtrack album,he never sounded better or played better guitar for that matter, all the members were outstanding musicians.
Reminds me of my Lost Love....

Take a look at the vinyl notes to see the range of instruments these guys played. They played instruments I never knew existed.
One of my favourite bands of all time, along with ELO and Queen.
