Why is it that I always get goosebumps at Scooter's solo after the first time they sing the chorus? Very deep, but yet a very strong message Scooter has there! I've always loved this song since I was a child. That's a 30-year old Jim Henson fan talking, might I add! :)
@iristhevampiress That's the late Richard Hunt performing Scooter. He passed away just a year or two after Jim Henson did. Sad that they and John Denver are gone...
Brings tears to my eyes every time I hear this song, I'll be singing this at a Christmas Party this year... I hope I can sing it with such love and dreams of peace as Scooter and John Denver :')
Today this country cannot even enjoy christmas due to our midguided politcal corredtness, such a shame that our children and our grandchildren are being cheated aout of so much.
One of the most beautiful carols ever, and one of the least heard today. I also think it's impossible to picture anyone but John and Scooter singing the leads on this song
My son and I adored this album, we sang the songs and acted some of the carols. He left us two years ago yet I still play it and sing it, Merry Christmas Sebastian!
A favorite since childhood. Thank you for saving and uploading this. I can't help thinking Bob Beers, the original songwriter, would have been proud of this version which has become a standard and kept the song alive.
yeah we finally nailed this one and this was the only one for our groups line up that we had worked on that needed it since thanksgiving break so were doing rehearsals now and starting the spring lineup which has a favorite song of mine
This was such a great special. Thanks for posting ! And thanks too to whoever commented about John Denver and Jim Henson in heaven together....lovely thought.
two of my favorite songs are "The Peace Carol" and "When the River Meets the Sea" (the later of which we played at my father's funeral, it is that BEAUTIFUL). What an incredible loss JD was. Thank you KARNOTT57 for posting the words.
Verse 2: The hope that has slumbered for 2000 years The promise that silenced 1000 fears A faith that can hobble an ocean of tears The peace of Christmas Day (chorus) Verse 3: Add all the grief that people may bear Total the strife, the troubles and care Put them in columns and leave them right there The peace of Christmas Day
I tried to post this for you but it said there were too many characters so I'll put it in pieces.... Here is the first verse, and chorus.. The garment of life, be it tattered and torn The cloak of the soldier is withered and worn But what child is this that was poverty-born The peace of Christmas Day CHORUS: The branch that bears the bright holly The dove that rests in yonder tree The light that shines for all to see The peace of Christmas Day
Well, I hope you are thoroughly pleased with yourself, arlenenoone. I am completely in tears with fond memories of being a kid when this was broadcast. It is truly a beautiful song. Such wonderful music and memories. Thanks!
I remember when this was broadcasted. I loved it so much, I got the "album" My family and I played this every Christmas therafter. We played it until we couldn't hear two words because it was so scratched. Thank God for CD's
hey guys...john denver and the muppets are simply awesome! listening to them transports you to some place where there is absolute peace and happiness and away from all this violence, anger and hatred in this world. Really hope that someday, somewhere mankind will learn to live in peace with one another!! just a dream...but no harm dreaming rite!
@mottaman1970 no harm at all...but what if everyone on this earth had a happy thought all at the same time. What kind of energy would you be putting out there in the universe? It would be pretty powerful!
This was my favorite Christmas show of all time. When I watch this and hear the music, I am instantly transported back to when I was a little kid. I sure wish there were more John Denvers and Jim Hensons in the world. It would be a whole lot peaceful of a place.
really??yes it reminds me of being a kid too.the world would be alot happier if there were more people like them in the world today, thanks for commenting on the video.
Thanks, Arlene. It was so great to hear from others who grew up with this wonderful show. I feel so lucky that I grew up in the time I did and got to enjoy the Muppets and John Denver the way I did. I was lucky a few years back when I posted on the internet that I had always wanted a copy of this tape. I connected with this woman in Colorado who sent me a copy at a reasonable cost. I will cherish it always.
oh so sweet, i love christmas, yes i do remember when christmas was a time of festive celerbrations, without all this silly happy holiday stuff, but saying that i will always celerbrate it the way i want and i think everyone else should too, heres to christmas, peace and love.
John Denver and the Muppets were a perfect fit. They were tailor made for each other.
