  • ok gotta keep reading

  • No cheese allowed in induction?

  • @roughlyhewnstone You are allowed 3-4 oz of cheese on Induction. The misconception is that you can have as much cheese as you want during Induction.

  • have see the very informative video by Matt Stone here on youtube called Atkins diet warning?

  • @SaturatedFatsLover I saw it a year or so ago. I think it's foolish to stop a long term way of eating over short term side effects -- like the referenced constipation or temporary hair loss, and the video speaks more to the lack of understanding of the author of Atkins than a reflection of the diet itself.

  • 6 people had ice cream.

  • thanks so much :) I watched ur video transformation and WOW that's incredible. I want to lose about 80 lbs. But was it hard for u?

  • @MeaganHaby18 It wasn't all a cake walk. The first month was pretty tough as I lost my one comfort, but after that, it honestly was not much of an imposition. I learned how to cook new great foods that eliminated much of the cravings for off plan foods.

  • Yes i am 18 and I am very over weight for my age and height. i dont know exactly how to start it and i dont exactly understand it

  • @MeaganHaby18 I would suggest reading the book. It can be found for less than $1 in many bookstores or in a library. Or at least watch my "Can I eat this on Induction?" video, which has the rules and the Acceptable Foods List for Induction in the video description. Follow those rules and eat only according to the list, and you will succeed.

  • good thing i love meats and eggs and stuff it made it so much easier i do miss my potatoes thou :(

  • mr bowulf can you tell me how i can break this diet down to six small meals a day?

  • @covergirl1313 I would simply break down the portion sizes into smaller portions. The main thing is you never want to have just carbs by themselves, but rather combine them with fat and protein in the same meal. There isn't anything magical outside of that -- just simply eat to satisfy your hunger, and don't allow yourself starve.

  • I'm currently on day 5 of induction. I'm CONSTANTLY craving ice cream, fruit, and bread. How do I beat those cravings?

  • @PAGunGuy I know the cravings can be viscous, but I usually try to advise people combat them two ways. First, feed your hunger with allowable foods. For example, if you love wings like I do, eat 15-20 of them, or if it's steak, eat a 16 oz perfectly grilled ribeye with mashed cauliflower. I find it difficult to feel too deprived or cravings too powerful if I am full of steak, fried chicken, or wings. The appetite suppression of ketosis will also help too.

  • @PAGunGuy The second half of the craving busters is finding something that you want visually more than the craving. I often refer to this as the "why" to lose weight. Find some concrete images of what you hate about being overweight or what being lighter would enable you to do. For me, I had the images of being kicked off amusement park rides for being too big, having to ask for an extender belt, and the big one of rejoining the military. Cravings while powerful paled in comparison to those.

  • I actually just found your channel! I have been doing ww and am now considering a low carb diet and found Atkins I will definitely be following your channel!

  • @Stacey353 Thanks for watching and subscribing. This way of eating is the only thing that ever worked for me, and if I can make it easier for others, I am happy to do so.

  • @Simplistic7SalvatioN Congratulations on your success. I keep telling others the benefits of low carb is far beyond the just simply the weight loss. :-)

  • @pinkmushroom55 I typically don't make sample menus as the things I like might not be the things you like. However you can watch my "Can I eat this on Induction?" video and read the rules and the Acceptable foods list which is referred to here. Then making a menu is simply applying those 10 or so rules, like drink 64 oz of water or eat until satiated to your menus.

If you are looking what to eat, any of my recipe videos marked with (IF) are Induction Friendly.

  • also to add one more thing i was also told to get suplements from holland and barret i did the old atkins when i was 12 was throwing up on the first to days was quite scared might happen again but i think were i have suplements for the things im not eating this time is stopping me from been sick

  • the things im eating i dont really enjoy eating but im just doing it so i can loose weight and help my polyistic ovaries are you only allowed meat and salad an veg and fruit the first week or can you buy atkins products ?

  • @cee607 Check out my "Can I eat this on Induction?" video where in the video, I have documents for the acceptable Induction foods list and the rules for Induction. It is pretty simple to follow, and I have uploaded like 50-60 different Induction friendly recipes that helped me -- low carb Ice Cream.

  • 6months on wieght watchers when i was 13 now i have started new atkins new you and i'm not really a big fan of meat, if i had to choose meats it would probably be duck, chicken, and i dont really mind bugers but i'm just abit confused as im so used to eating the things i cant touch now the only good thing is i barely feel hungry on this diet ive had sausage and eat twice and now on my third day jusy had strawberries for breakfast i don't think i could eat salad for breakfast

  • im 17 and im 5'3 weight 154 pounds i 'm currently on the new atkins diet been on it since monday on my third day i have choosen to do this diet as i wen't to a doctor at a hospital who is a specialist i went to see him for polyistic ovaries he i was doing the weight watchers diet before which ive done many times it does work but i have to do exssive amounts of exersize and eat small meals e.g ceral or toast morring.lunch sandwhich and snack jacks then weight watcher meal lost 4 stone in

  • @cee607 I am told Atkins is particularly helpful for those suffering from PCOS. There are certainly lots of ideas for breakfast. You may want to check out in fact the video I just uploaded with the Low Carb Cinnabon Sweet Rolls. They are completely Induction legal, and additionally check out any of my videos with (IF) in their title.

There is definitely more to Atkins than just meat, cheese, and salads.

  • oh shut the fuck up no diet is healthy we just wanna loose weight and we're gonna do it!

  • If your doing this for weigt loss become a vegetarian. High protein/ very low carbs is NOT healthy, and this diet certainly isn't. Look up osteoperorsis, effects of cholesterol, heart disease and the benifits of fruits and vegetables. Your getting protein, Iron, fat... and thats the main stuff. Unless you want to build a good amount of muscle, protein isn't top priority; carbs are.

  • @cpmc1 Actually I did start doing it for weight loss and lost 211 pounds on the diet. Then I learned how healthy the diet is -- my insulin resistance went away, my cholesterol dropped like a rock 50 points, my heart risk factors have dropped, my hypertension went away, my sleep apnea disappeared, and my athletic performance has gone through the roof (marathons, weight lifting, and sprints).

Watch my Atkins Diet Misconceptions series if you really want to educate yourself.

  • @bowulf So your sleep apnea went away? Do you have any more info on that? Was it confirmed by a sleep study? Do others improve who don't have a huge amount of weight to lose? I just got diagnosed with it and I need to lose about 35 lbs. Are there any formal studies on getting rid of sleep apnea through weight loss?

  • @MillionthUsername I haven't done any specific research on sleep apnea because honestly mine just disappeared as I lost the weight. My sleep apnea was confirmed in a sleep study at the Mercy Sleep Clinics; apparently, I had 600-700 waking episodes that night and my pulse ox went down to the 70's. They were the ones who prescribed the BiPap machine due to the necessary pressure to keep the airway opens were so high.

  • @bowulf Wow. That's severe sleep apnea. Mine was 50 incidents a night. I guess yours is a clear case of it being strictly weight related. Maybe mine is too, but I only need to lose 40 lbs at most. But then again mine is called moderate. I'll have to search for studies on it. Maybe it's any kind of extra weight in the neck and chin which can initiate the condition if people don't already have an issue with central apnea from something going on in their brain. I hope mine goes away as easily.

  • @cpmc1 I deal with with all the myths of that people like yourself bring up and detail the multiple scientific studies that continually back up the low carb lifestyle.

As for becoming a vegan or vegetarian, I have friends who are that, but why would I want to take an extremely limited diet when I can enjoy the healthy foods of the Atkins lifestyle and have 6 years of fantastic annual physicals and blood work.

  • @bowulf I'll send you a PM.

  • @cpmc1 Like I said in PM, watch the misconception series of videos:

    1. Atkins Diet Misconceptions: Mental Acuity and Low Carb Zombies

    2. Atkins Diet Misconceptions: Low Carb and Diabetes (Part 2)

    3. Atkins Diet Misconceptions: Low Carb and Diabetes (Part 1)

    4. Atkins Diet Misconceptions: Kidney Stones Inevitable?

    5. Atkins Diet Misconceptions: Calorie-In Calorie-Out Fallacy

    6. Atkins Diet Misconceptions: Ketosis versus Ketoacidosis

    7. Atkins Diet: Only water weight loss?

    Too many others to list

  • @cpmc1 Vegetarianism is the Emo of the diet world. Study human physiology ftw...

  • i wanted to know i bought the book but im confused still do u eat only 3 cups of salad or vegestables for the entire day or per meal

  • @covergirl1313 The entire day during the Induction phase.

  • Is Stevia a good alternative to Splenda? It is said to have no carbs and no calories, and it is natural rather than artificial.

  • @nobux60 It's a good option. I don't get hung up on the natural vs. artificial tags, but rather effectiveness for the task. For the most part, Stevia works fine for most tasks. I don't have a lot of experience with straight Stevia (like Stevia extract) in cooking as initial attempts by me were with a really bitter brand.

  • Wow im very proud of you wow you are a great motivator

  • @SamanthaErazo0524 I am glad I could fulfill the same function others first paid to me.

  • its a great video an im thinking fo starting myself

  • @bowulf thanks bud will do

  • @bowulf yes I just started 3 days ago my sister told me about it. She went from 163 pounds to 143 in a MONTH! And this is the most effective diet I've ever seen so I just gave it a try. Wish me luck.

  • @diddy150 Oh one final suggestion -- make sure you are getting the water in each day as dehydration symptoms can cause fatigue as well. Best of luck!

  • I have no energy man

  • @diddy150 If you get OFF of your low carb diet, and focus on healthy food, high fiber and consistant exercise, you will lose bodyfat and have all the energy you could ever want. You don't want to lose just any " weight,".....you want to lose " fat weight." Low carb is very inefficient in that category. If you think you're miserable now,..just wait a couple of weeks. You'll be wanting to eat every carb in sight. Google Clarence Bass Ripped. Go to his website and learn how it's really done.

  • @brushfour44 Ah more ignorance from you....

I take you STILL have not read the studies I gave you that showed low carb dieters lost the MOST fat and lost the LEAST lean body mass than other dieters. There are enough examples in the low carb community for the bountiful energy and excellent body types. So keep staying on your roller coaster diet of spiking blood sugars, I am doing awesome on mine.

  • @bowulf You'd better get up to speed Bowulf. The Low Carb dieting approach is falling apart. Not only on bodycomp and performance, but new research has revealed some very interesting things about Omega Fat profiles. Want to do people a favor,...get them off the Omega 6's. Low Carb diets are loaded with Omega 6. At least do that.

  • @brushfour44 Are you kidding? More and more research validates it every month. It must be nice to ignore all the evidence contrary to one's opinion.

As for Omega 6 vs. Omega 3, how about you honest with the first topic before we head on to new topics? Find a scientific peer-reviewed journal that refutes the peer-reviewed article:

"Very-low-carbohydrate diets and preservation of muscle mass"

    Anssi H Mannine

    Nutrition & Metabolism 2006, 3:9

  • @bowulf Not kidding Bowulf. Lets get people OFF the low carb thing okay. I hate to use you as an example, but your bodyfat is quite high for a dieter. Low carb is not good for cutting bodyfat and you know it. NO major health organization in the country is on board with Low Carb Bowulf. Nothing but peer reviews in place. Let people up their carbs, and reduce their Omega's 6's. Their protein will be fine. If you care about people......you'll do that now.

  • @brushfour44 Great, it's apparent you simply want to spout diatribes and not actually look at the science. Keep yourself in the dark. Casting pearls at swine is a fruitless exercise.

My body fat at roughly 13% after marathon training season is high. You're laughable. Let's see I went from a body fat percentage of 48% to one as low as 11%. I lost over 180 pounds of fat tissue. People can make up their own minds, but for me, only one plan caused 180 pounds of fat lost.

  • @diddy150 Did you just start? If you did, it is likely you are going through Induction Flu which is a temporary condition due to the body acclimate to burning fat for fuel. Most people around day 7-14 respond that they have more energy than ever before due to the body finally burning the stored energy it has kept around in the fat for so long.

If you are after the first 14 days, there are other suggestions like specific supplements like CoQ-10 that you should try.

  • you are such an inspiration!! im going to start atkins SOON!

  • @cassandrajane24 It was the best thing that ever happened to me. I wish you the best, and if you have any questions, feel to search my videos or ask away. :-)

  • how can I afford doing Atkin's diet ? I live in europe and It's not that cheap to buy low-carb products ? I can't afford to buy all these nuts and ground nuts ! what should i do , For example to replace bread ? your recepie was awsome! but too expensive for me , do you suggest any alternatives?

  • @jas1brit There is no low carb product requirement. You are encouraged to eat the real food most of ancestors ate readily -- eggs, dairy, meat, vegetables. My grocery bill likely dropped while my quality went up. I was no longer buying cheaply made commercial prepared junk.

How much does a bag of flax seed cost? Here is $1-2 a pound, and the stuff lasts forever for bread replacement.

  • @bowulf thanks for your answer I actually found the flax seed in health food store was jusr 1.30 euros for a big box ,before I was looking for flax seed breads which was quite expensive .

    but I couldn't buy almond meal .

    do you eat fruits ?

  • @bowulf HI , Thanks for your enaswer , you were right ready made flaxseed bread was expensive but Once I looked for flaxseed itself I found it and It was very cheap lol . almond meal was still expensive tho ,

one quiestion , do you eat fruits ? if yes , which kinds you eat and which ones you avoid . Thanks , Jasmine

  • @jas1brit You may have to grind your own almond flour. I buy raw almonds (slivered almonds work best though) -- usually dirt cheap, and grind them in my $7 coffee mill.

As for fruits after Induction, I eat berries and melons primarily, but very occassionally I do eat other ones -- like a quarter apple. peach, etc. I avoid any fruit that is coated in syrup or ones primarily just sugar (banana, pineapples, oranges).

  • Bowulf,

I love living low carb but everyone keeps telling me I'm going to get gout. Do you know anything about this. I also really enjoy your videos. Thanks for all your great advice :o)

  • @OoMrsSmithoO There are a couple links or searches you should do to refute them. The first one to read is "Gout the missing chapter by Gary Taubes" and the second one is to search for the numerous studies released in the past two or three years which link gout not with high protein or high fat diet but with the fructose in one's diet. HFCS has been notorious in increasing the number of cases of gout in this country.

  • bowolf, is it true that about 40 to 60 net grams of carbohydrates per day is about the right amount to consume without gaining weight? In other words, would this be about the average for most dieters?

  • @nobux60 Most people during the OWL phase are able to lose and eat between 40-80ish carbs daily. In maintenance, this number typical increases up to 100 or more without gaining weight. The difference between CCLL (Losing - OWL) and ACE (maintaining or equilibrium - Maintenance).

  • i read online that low carb diets causes insomnia, which i have, but ive also read that hypoglycemia can cause insomnia, from dr atkins book and every where else online.so it would make sense to me that if you get your sugars under control it would help. what are your thoughts?

  • Are you eat linseeds whole is ok for increasing fibre in diet for make shit easy?

  • @lumpybruisychickeny1 It is suggested that you grind the seeds first to be most effective.

  • how the fuck are you supposed to get energy when you don't eat carbs?!

  • @Mrkillthatnoise The same way lions or other big cats or wolves or bears do -- from the fat in their diet. Fat is a dense fuel source and is more than capable to satisfy all needs for energy as I have proven running a marathon on a high fat low carb diet.

  • So, how do you calculate how many carbs you can have after the induction phase of the diet?

  • @Passion613 I do have an OWL and an Extended Induction video posted here at YT. You can watch those videos for a more complete answer, but the shorter answer is it depends on your body.

If you decide to go to OWL phase, you add 5g additional each week of carbs (in the form of vegetables) until you stop losing weight consistently each week. That way you know your CCLL, and then you can eat within that number for the ongoing weeks as you add in the additional food groups.

  • Is it true you lose your hair on this diet?

  • @XxVanillaSinXx People can lose hair during any dramatic weight loss or change in diet. The loss if it happens is generally short-lived, and most people actually report much healthier skin and hair while on the diet.

  • Don't do it as I did it, even though I lost loads of weight and felt great for many months, like 9, I have developed Calcium pyrophosphate crystals = due to a reaction with the phosphoric acid in meat and Ca in my bone. I was eating huge amounts of lean meat (almost only!). RDA = 700mg phosphorus, and I was eating a pheasant = 750 pack prawns = 400 4Eggs = 344 in one day Twice RDA. If I had ate fatty meat, butter & half the eggs, fat & half prawns I would not of caused this! EAT FAT!

  • Not enough space to finish my question, When I cook with Coconut flour, which

I did today, do we deduct the number of FIBER GRAMS to end up with a NET CARBOHYRATE CONTENT?

  • @NICKI525 The quick answer is yes you deduct fiber from the total number of carbohydrates as fiber does not impact one's blood sugars.

Good luck, and way to make the choice for being healthy!

  • Hi,

I started the Atkins diet 3 months ago and lost 15 pounds quite easily, never being hungry but I did go through the flu period, weakness, rather tired most of the time and got a bit scared but knew from experience years ago that this diet does work. Now I want to make Atkins MY WAY of life, tired of YOYO dieting and being hungry most ofo the time. My question is this: I am making a recipie with Coconut flour. I want to know DO WE DEDUCT THE NUMBER OF FIBER GRAMS FROM THE CARBOHYDRATES

  • what should i eat i mean brown bread cereal chapati rice?

  • Is quorn okay for the atkins diet?

  • @403766 I had no idea what quorn was, but found out it was a brand of meatless food. Here were the top ingredients in most of their food:

"Mycoprotein (51%), rehydrated egg white, onions, textured wheat protein (wheat protein, wheat starch)"

The textured wheat protein and starch would make it only acceptable for really late stage Ongoing Weight Loss Phase. (where you add whole grains back into the diet)

  • @bowulf

    Thank you bowulf!

  • Thank you sir for all your videos. I know they represent much work and thought.

I am 50 lbs overweight and I KNOW that I must lose this weight or lose my health.l

I have practiced low carb for 5 days and have lost 4 lbs; but the greatest thing is I can tell that I feel better already! I am not as bloated and I just feel better!!!

Thank God for folks like you who want to help others who are overweight.

  • So glad I found your videos. You're a wealth of very helpful yet practical info! Thanks for doing this.

  • @ArchieLovesMe You are very welcome! I am glad you find them useful.

  • I remember weighting at my highest record weight, 197 pounds. I was eating over 3000 calories, but never weighted more. Considering I was very lazy at that time, I was probably burning 2000 calories a day. So that would make an extra 1000 calories each day. The obvious question is: Where did the extra calories go?

  • @Forsure3333 What are asking? You ate 3000 Calories a day, and you did or did not gain weight? What was your calculated BMR for that time period?

  • this guy only wants to sell his crap ... he gives no fucking informations about the diet ... he only wants to sell his crappy fucking book for a shitload of money

  • Seriously - walk away from the keyboard...

I have zero crap to sell. The book I refer to is by someone else, and I have no pecuniary benefit in ppl like Amazon or bookstores selling it.

If you want to find out about the diet, watch my other 100 videos. Any of them is a good place to start.

Otherwise, find someone else to amuse your troll self.

  • Ummm.........doofus, what is he selling? NOTHING. He is posting this to help those of us who are or become a part of Atkins Low Carb Bulletin Board and for others interested in following low carb and finding out about it. Thanks, Kent! Been an ADBB member for several years and you inspire all of us! Keep it going!

  • when can i eat some plantain? i love plantain the green one which isnt sweet but starchy,,,, can i have it on OWL??

  • OWL - other fruit rung...

  • thanx :)

  • Kent can i have green tea during the induction phase?

  • Yes, you can. Just be aware of the caffeine though... (it only affects a subset of followers)

  • how old do you have to be to start this diet? wat would you say to a really overweight teeenager with an overwhelming family history of heart disease and diabetes

  • I have a "should kids do low carb?" video, which talks about this issue. The short answer is yes they should restrict their intake of "whites" (sugars, starches, flour, etc.) and decrease their overall carbohydrate intake. To do the full blown Atkins starting at 20g per day, it takes a really mature mind to understand the lifelong journey. It might be just enough to do the first step (like Atkins Maintenance phase) and start from there.

  • I went to a thrift store today and found The New Diet Revolution Book copyright 1992 and The Essential Atkins for Life Kit (CD not included) Little upset about that...but I'll live lol! I cannot wait to finish the book and begin the kit :) I'll look for the 2002 copyright once I finish the 1992 version and compare. TTYL :)

  • There are slight adjustments in the Induction rules -- like cheese and certain veggies, but it's a good start. The differences are minor and perhaps makes the diet easier but not any more successful. One of my friends used to track the changes between the versions, but I can't find her site anymore.

Congrats on making the purchase and making a knowledgeable start! :-)

  • The New Diet Revolution Book circa 1992 belongs in 1992. We're well past the Low Carb Fad diets. Consume a diet instead from all major food groups. Increase daily activitly like walking and eat a diet full of natural foods with all the bulk and fiber in tact like: Red potatoes, leafy green vegetables, dark rich colored fruits like blueberries and strawberries, and rasberries. Whole grain bread (flourless sprouted grain is best). Whole grains: Kamut, Amareth, Oatgroats etc..are best for LEANNESS!

  • "Consume a diet instead from all major food groups. "

All the major food groups are well represented on a low carb diet. Back in 1992, the US was in a low fat craze, which made people phobic of one of the few foods that could actually solve a lot of their problems.

  • Actually it's a new life with a new style and eating according to this new style will be a necessity. I'm on atkins for five years now. Sometimes I am not so strict a follower but I have managed to keep my weight at health levels. Good Lucky for everyone and God Bless this guy Bowulf.

  • I think i eat more than 3-4 oz of cheese, that could be my prob.I forgot to mention dressing on my salad at lunch, which i dont really measure, and i drink about 2L of water a day. I have 1 lrg coffee a day with 4 sweetener and 2 cream. No other drinks, or sweetener intake. i lost 120lbs which took me nearly a year last year. I have recently gained 20, but i still would like to lose75-80more Lbs. So this last bit has been tough. Im going to write more in my journal of my intake. thanks again

  • This is what a typical day is for me

Breakfast:2-3scrambled eggs, with either bacon or ham. I might put some cheddar cheese in the eggs, or some cr. cheese

Lunch: Usually a salad lettuce, cucumber, peppers, 5-6 blk. olives. About 5-6 oz of protein. i.e, tuna, chicken

Supper: Some kind of grilled meat and veggie. I made a broc and caul. bake with cheese. Throughout the day if im feeling like a snack, i go for pepperettes and cheese, or peppers with artichoke/asiago dip. (1 carb 4 2T, 0-sugar)

  • You might think about your cheese intake. It is limited on Induction to 3-4 oz, but some people need are even more sensitive to the lactose and milk proteins. Other than that, it looks perfect. You are drinking water in on top of all this right?

  • Hi Kent, i have done atkins before about a year ago and did pretty good, but quickly slipped back into my old "bad" habits. I have recently just started back (this monday) and have been following it to a "T", but i have gained 3 lbs?!?!?! What the heck am i doing wrong. I thought i was doing pretty good, since i havent had any carb, or sugar cravings at all. Does it just take a while for the body to recognize the change? I dont remember this happening last time. Please help.. :)

  • Have you seen my why am I not losing on Induction video? Did any of those 10 things resonate with you? You may be a bit more sensitive to carbs than you were the first or to some specific types of carbs. Watch that video, and see if it helps at all.

  • Hey guys, just to let you'll know. today's my first day of induction. after quiting atkins for 2 years. I'm so proud of myself for not wanting to snack today. I've been measuring my carbs and calorie intake and I've had 900calorie of food today and 10g of carb:) wish me luck. and I know I will not quit this time! Because I know I'm not doing this alone:) everytime I wanna sink my teeth into a chocolate chip cookie,I'll look at kent's weight lost journey. thanks for the inspiration kent!

    Emaline

  • What an awesome first day report! Just keep your motivation high, and remember your goal that you are shooting for. You can certainly do this!

  • thanks for the encouragement:)

  • can you do atkins w/out the induction phase? it just seems so extreme and 2wks is long. would you still lose weight?

  • In comparison to the rest of your life, 2 weeks is not that long to set up a lifelong eating pattern. If you check out the Atkins for Life program (Different from the Atkins Diet) , it doesn't do the Induction phase, so yes you can be successful without Induction. I however believe Induction is important to set the stage, get you into ketosis, and ensure future success.

  • i eat junk food all the time and don't gain any weight. its important to eat your favorite stuff at least occasionally!

  • Or perhaps you should get new favorite things... Would you advocate an alcoholic or drug addict that they partake of their vice at least occasionally? What might be fine for the occasional drinker might not be fine for the alcoholic.

  • makes sense..

  • Wondering if you can help, I do not have any specialty food stores where I live and grocery shopping for Atkins is hard. Do you have a grocery list for stores like Winn-Dixie, Publix, or even walmart? A list of meals made from these stores would be wonderful =)

  • 99.99 percent of my diet should be able to be purchased from any grocery store. Maybe once in 2 months I might have something difficult to find wherever, low carb Da Vinci SF syrup. Check out my eating video and breakfast idea video for some ideas. The key thing is memorize the Acceptable Foods List, and shop the exterior of the store - - veggies, dairy for cheese, SC, Cream, meat or butcher area, eggs, salad dressing, and frozen food aisle for veggies out of season.

  • Here's a quick dinner list:

    Chicken Fajita Salads

    Sausage Broccoli Quiche

    Chicken Alfredo w/ spaghetti Squash

    Wings w/ Broccoli Bacon Salad

    Chuck Roast with mashed Cauliflower

    Stuffed Hamburgers w/ dinner salad

    Beef/Chicken/Sausage Stir Fry

That's just a quick menu off the top of my head for dinner items for a week.

  • I have been on Induction now for about 5 days. Initially I was losing small amounts each day. Then on the fifth day I put on 400g. I know that I shouldn't weigh myself every day but I find it very motivational. Is it normal to gain weight even on induction?

  • Check out my video on how to ensure the best weigh in possible. Yes, you can add weight even on Induction. Sometimes for reason like sodium intake, or increased water intake, or even sometimes for no reason. The body is just weird sometimes. Only you can tell if it was for cause or not.

  • but once I went to college it really did not matter, i was eating all the wrong foods and drinking sodas everyday. But, I wanted to ask you a question in your inbox.

  • I did not do the introduction for only 14 days. I continued it for the whole entire time until I lost the desired weight. I first went on the atkins diet the summer before I went to te 10th grade. One I went to college ans stayed on campus I gained the weight back plus more in about 2-3years. I stopped because the media said it was unhealthy. BIGGEST MISTAKE EVER. Now I am 23 and about to start my diet again. I weigh 250 pounds, ridiculous. Atkins Diet change my metabolism

  • I know I responded to this in the pm, but those life changes are difficult to get through without adding the weight especially when correct food choices aren't always the easiest or cheapest to make. The good news is you see the error, and are back on the right road.

  • I hardly eat fast food, ive only had mcdonalds like once in my life... If you lay off that crap ull be in shape just eat homemade food

  • McDonald's is just a tip of the iceberg or a symptom of the problem. It's what people eat that is at the heart of the problem. If you bring in the junk into your house as an ingredient, you will become just as fat as going out and eating elsewhere. Potatoes and sugars are just as damaging from your house as elsewhere, and while you may not put the addl chemicals or preservatives and use higher quality ingredients, your body reacts to the base macro-nutrients the same way.

  • im 14 i want to lose about 17-29 punds cause i'm not overweight i just dont look good in a bathing suit

is this a hard diet and is it dangerous to be starved of carbs ooo and i dont get it how is it possible that u can eat high calorie foods like chicken steak and bacon

  • I wouldn't say it is any harder than any other way of eating as the appetite suppression helps you eat correctly. That said this is NOT a weight loss diet. It is way of eating or living, so if you are not interested in changing the way you eat or your relationship to food long term, this is not the diet for you.

Short term fixes only breed short term results.

  • im 14 is the aktins good for young people ¿

  • Yes, it is, but I recommend starting at the OWL phase rather than Induction. Check out my Atkins Diet Is it for kids and teens video. You might not need or should do the 20g per ketogenic levels, but you can certainly do the carb conscious latter phases.

  • you kinda look like a ADD person , is it bcos of the atkins diet gone wrong ??!!

  • Wow, that's insightful comment, and I am glad I have your concern. However, I can assure you that your concerns are ungrounded. .

    Have a nice day!

  • Good video. Dear Bowulf basically you should mention that if someone wants to try to reverse or control diabetes they have no choice but to use a Ketogenic diet and only eat low carb vegetables.

  • Absolutely - a ketogenic diet can provide dramatic IMMEDIATE help to those with diabetes. I had so much information on this topic that I ended up making two videos on it.

  • No, at 14 you are still growing. Aside from eating smart and lots of excersize I would strongly urge you not to do ANY dieting unless posed with real health problems. I say this coming from a medical background, trust me, certain fats are VITAL for you at your age. Worry about your weight when you turn 20 and remember to ALWAYS see a doctor before starting a diet (especially atkins) Believe me, dieting can be very damaging at a young age if not properly informed of the risks and side effects.

  • Dieting with caloric deficiency can certainly be damaging, but eating right is hardly going to damage their growth. "trust me, certain fats are VITAL for you at your age" which certain fats are eliminated on the Atkins Diet, a diet that encourages the intake of fat?

There is no reason to keep encouraging someone to eat junk (added refined sugars, HFCS, white bread) because they are young. These products do nothing for one's health. No one is ever too young to learn a healthy lifestyle.

  • I was making a generlisation of all diets not just the Atkins diet. All a 14 year old should be doing is riding a bike, playing football, eating a bit more fruit and veg and staying away from excess in order to be healthy, not completely changing their diet whilst still in a state of metabolic development, it's a well known fact that doing so can cause real health problems when you get older. All I'm saying is always consult a profesional before you take the plunge.

  • Bowulf, been looking thru your vids and now I'm motivated to get back into the lo-carb. I'm a big dud, about 2 metres tall (6'6") and around 135kg (300 pounds). My ideal weight is 100 to 110kg. Congrats on your success and on motivating others. One thing I would like to say is that lo-carb is not for everyone - just as trying to eat "everything in moderation" doesn't work for some of us either. All I can say is that it is by far the easiest and most effective diet that I have ever followed.

  • I agree - some people should not do low carb. (Ones with no carb senstivity, people not looking to make lifestyle change) It just doesn't agree with some people's choices, and they would be better served elsewhere. That said, I think all people could stand to reduce the excess added sugar in their diet without detriment.

    Good luck!

  • im just starting the adkins and i have lots to lose thanks for your advice!

  • im 18 and 12 stone i want to be 10 stone howlong do you think it will take before i reach my goal and what do i eat?

  • Sorry on the first question, I specifically don't answer those questions. Check out my how much weight will I lose video for why.

As for the second video, check out my first few videos. They go over the rules of Induction and the Induction Acceptable Foods. Or you can read chapter 11 of the book.

  • dude im the same..

im running everyday, eating only breakfast and dinner (weightwatchers dinners, fruit or maybe shreaded wheat with skimmed milk for breakfast)

  • im 18 years how much should i eat i have 12 days i already have done it for two days then i have to travell and i want to eat normally ill be in maitanance phase right ? help help help hel help

  • No. Like I said, read the book. If you intention is to eat as you were before the diet on your vacation, I would suggest not doing the diet until you are ready to commit. After Induction is the OWL phase and then pre-maintenance (last 5-10 pounds), and then finally maintenance when you hit your goal weight.

  • no carbs? i thought it was 22 carbs a day. I cant do absolutly NO carbs. 1st day in a had a spoon of peanut butter!

  • Who said no carbs? Check out my video "Induction is not just under 20g per day." Even Induction is not zero carb, but it is more than just eating below 20g carbs per day. It is about eating the right carbs - which peanut butter is not according to the plan. Nuts should be left for Extended Induction or the second rung of the OWL phase,

  • are crackers allowed in the induction diet??

  • No, no refined flours are. I would encourage you to read Chap 11 and get the full list of acceptable foods or watch my Induction Foods - THe Good, The Bad."

  • hey will i be able to have a non creamy chicken or lamb curry? its just spices (madras) /? i am on my 3rd day on induction

  • Spices are allowed on induction just ensure they do not have sugar in the ingredients.

  • i need to lose 28 pounds, is it harder for me coz i dont need to lose 100 or something like that?

  • No, although motivation is always an issue when you are closer to goal. I have seen very successful people with 10-15 pounds to lose as 200 pounds to lose. It is all about knowing what the weight loss means to you, and being motivated to achieve good health and your goal weight more than wanting the next treat.

  • You look awesome!!

  • Thank you so much I am learning a lot , God bless you

  • Sorry I don't understand the name of the web low carb can you please write for me , thanks

  • Either:

    atkinsdietbulletinboard (.) c om

    -or-

    lowcarbfriends (.) c om

  • * How do I give up diet pop? I drink about a liter per day. Could I just go down to one bottle a day?

    * How do you handle dinner parties, social gatherings where a dessert is placed in front of you, etc? I always get thrown out of ketosis and it seems something comes up at least once a month!

  • The answer to your first question is weigh what pop means to you and what being at goal means to you. Pick the one you want more. This is coming from a former 4 liter Diet Dew per day guy. This said, you are allowed 3 servings (or 3 cans) of artificial sweetener per day IF you can keep losing, but that is it.

For the dinner parties, watch my cheating and temptation video (also my holidays video). It comes down to the same thing. See that piece of dessert as all the negative of obesity.

  • I also keep looking at each choice as an option to prove you are going to get to goal or return to your old lifestyle. For me, it simply got easier. Finally, make sure you don't put yourself into that situation without an out. Talk to the host beforehand, take your treat with you in your coat. Come to the party full.

  • We tend to believe that our grand-parents used to eat so many fruits and veggies in the 50's and 60's. Is this a misconception?

  • I don't doubt they ate veggies, but this massive amount of fruit is a rather recent epidemic. In the 50s, you did not have the year round shipments from South America to be able to get your oranges or citrus. Foods, like veggies and fruits, went into and out of season, and you might not see them outside of a can for a 9 months.

Veggies were just beginning to be frozen to prolong their shelf life. Otherwise, you were left with what you had canned or could purchase or pick fresh.

  • Now tell me something. You learn so much from doing Atkins diet or with someone you learned?

  • I did Atkins myself and helped administrate and moderate one of the largest online Atkins Diet support bulletin boards. In helping and watching thousands of other Atkins followers I developed my philsophy on how to diet.

  • A feather your videos are in English because we do not intend to speak with you I use the translator online google, just read the same posts and responses of their videos.

  • Hello I am Brazilian

I had more incentive to do Atkins then I saw your videos, I need to lose about 40 pounds and I managed to keep you can get money is not? I'm still in the induction yet.

  • You can certainly do this. I am confident you can lose the weight and achieve your goal.

  • LooK i just wanna do the atkins till i get to basic! dont you think that after i go basic training and then am on active duty where u have pt everyweek that will keep my weight off? i wanted to do the diet till i am
