Important note for beginners: you're only strumming the top three strings. Mute or just avoid picking the rest.
As I understand it Tony Iommi developed this style early in his days with Black Sabbath because he had cut the tip of his finger off in an industrial accident and had to come up with a simplified style. That accident was responsible for putting the HEAVY in HEAVY METAL!
Do you take requests for songs to teach? Because I have a few that I recently discovered & they really inspired me. & The least I want to do is be able to play them, but every tab I find is really crappy. If you do take requests for songs, please let me know. & Keep on rocking. :)
I say when you have done renovating your home you should just make some complete bad ass insanely hard lesson for whatever you wish to teach us and see if these guys including myself could keep up. I'm sure it would be pretty interesting lesson to show us either way :)
Nice. Hope more drop d tuning lessons comes out. But for drop d tuning I find it easier to use the 7th fret on the low e and d strings, thats how I get drop d tuning. I'm into All That Remains style music so hopefully you can do a lesson in their style also with some breakdowns.
Not a bad lesson or anything, but personally I hate this sound. I would like to see some more complicated lessons as said before. Maybe some classic or southern rock that you don't already have
@SvenskeLoeg i agree, just that i am very very busy at home renovating my house, so i'm lucky that i can make guitar lesson videos at all....i'll make more complicated videos when i'm finished renovating :)
@BobbyCrispy Thanks dude, your the best. It could be awesome if you made a tutorial of "The Battle Of Evermore" by Led Zeppelin for a big Led Zeppelin fan.
@BobbyCrispy Hey bobby! what happened to the vid where you where selling the guitar lap hook for the flying v? if wanted to buy one...Thx for the lessons!
@SvenskeLoeg Stop being so ignorent, what about the begginers? Everybody has to start somewhere and not be put off by expert videos and anyway, if you are advanced you shouldn't need lessons!
Bobby those riffs are fucking awesome! You should release some solo stuff or have kids and get them to grow up in a band playing the songs you wrote! They can call the band BC Tribute and everyone will think it's a tribute to BC Rich guitars but only we bobby students will know the truth! Rock on!
@yetikeeper its called "drop D" because you drop the Low E string to D. Hence Drop D. A guitar is usually tuned to E Standard EADGBE. Therefore D Standard is DGCFAD. It has been this way since I started playing in 1976.
thanks for this video i never done this before and am going to try it now i seen your video

I'd love some more heavy metal style guitar lessons not neccesarily on songs but on heavy metal techniques, tunings, etc.

way to go Bobby. Just change the name of the video and overdub your voice so all the people commenting about open D tuning now look totally stupid.

Isn't this drop D, not open D?
ADL30004 4 months ago 30
@ADL30004 if it was drop D, the tuning would go D G C F A D, This is "D Standard", or "Open D".
xCIHIRIS 4 months ago
@xCIHIRIS no its not. Drop D is DADGBE
yetikeeper 3 months ago
@yetikeeper that's D standard dude.

@xCIHIRIS d standard is DGCFAD (everything down 1 step). Google "D standard tuning"

Title of vid is Open D Tuning (DADF#AD)? You show Drop D tuning (DADGBE) in the vid... Accidental mis-title?
