You can have your 'becky' I'll take it like this--old school and smooth. If you made a little more love--you would be less likely to want to shoot one another.(not just in the bed..in your hearts)...Ain't nothin' soft or square about showin' love...realize that before it's too late!!! Some people where conceived as this song was playing. if you where conceived to 'tare the club up' I FEEL SORRY FOR YA!!! lol...
I forgot how cheesy this video was, and the lead singer looks like that creepy uncle that you don't let around your kids. The female lead singer is sexy though. I wouldn't mind letting her listen to my heart.
dang , im only 13 & this song means way more to me than Keri Hilson , Rihanna , & any other new artist . it would be really nice if all of the old school musicians could comeback & make one more album .
see the thing is so called artist add too much bass and instruments this is a classic you can't get rihanna and nicki minag to sing this. ok i heard you the first time you like to have sex , wow really? stop the rubbing , licking , and suck me songs already!
Please don't pay attention to the idiots that felt the need to insult this song. They are below average, childest, ebonic speaking jerks that have no comprehension of quality music . Remember, they were raised post 1970s and 80s when music decended into the pits of hell and lulled dummys like the ones that insulted this song into believing that expressing yourself is somehow a sign of weakness. I pray that music like this is resurrected and ask all who love it continue to support it.

I found the video interesting. It showing that true love is real and sometimes people inadvertently hurt each other - but then they know it (realize it) right away (which is best) and stop what they are doing (see?). They see who they really love and that their behavior is wrong. The setting is no less than fascinating; they're on a real airship (the kind from the 30's and 40's) where the main cabin is set up as a ballroom. Up in the sky dancing! That is like, fabulous. I'd pay to do that!

Check out how Mary Davis is grooving her body to the music. The man lead vocalist is singing magnificently. The feathery harmonizing of all the members layering their voices have a heavenly sound. M. Davis has that way of "dropping down" with her voice. And, even when she goes up in register (2:48) she still sounds like she's singing in a low voice. Awesome fabulous vocal sound.
All is not lost. Lets get together and hold our own party of joy, love, and remembering the good times. After all we hold the key to our great performers. Lets make sure they never go away.
@chj2 - You have an interesting imagination if you actually liked that video. In my opinion, a video can enhance a song or it can disgrace it my friend. This video is clearly a dissapointment. This was a serious hit in the city of Chicago. I wasn't but 11 when this hit. But damn, do I remember!!
That 808 drum machine was a monster in its heyday. TimeFlyte had written just about every song of the 80's era.
Music, was good back then. Artists had to express themselfs with skillful wordplay. Not like these crooks today, get on the mic and say a bounch B' and H's and then have the nerve to say they are an R&B act!

SOS like so many of the groups back then had their own sound but each were as good as the next.. Today we have repetitive rubbish that wouldn't have made the top 1000 back in the day...
@bojstafford This song is indeed real music. The video had class, elegance and the song expresses pure romance. It's good to see people still appreciate 80's music.
@MyJunior1975 Mint Condition, Jill Scott, Hil St Soul, Leela James, Lalah Hathaway, Dwele, and many more. The thing is, alot of these idiotic radio stations won't even play their music, therefore adding to the misconception and confusion that says that only what is played on the radio is real music, which is straight up bullshit.
@chj2 As far as solo R&B artists, they are out there...and in mass abundance with huge radio play. Besides Mint Condition, when was the last time you've seen an R&B group? I haven't seen one in five years.
This song was guaranteed to make me cry then...and it's making me cry now. The first time I heard this song was leaving my mother's funeral. You'd think in 30 years I'd move on...
Man this song is amazing!!!!!! Beautiful to listen to. Music like this WILL NEVER be duplicated. We'll never hear music like this today. Just a classic hit from the 80's.
ahhhh good vibin music, legendary, classic, and timeless! unfortunately music is at its worst but fortunately we have music like this to mend the heartbreak of todays music status!
I AIN'T HEARD THIS SONG IN SO LONG! I forgot this song even existed! This takes me back to the early days of BET and Video Soul! Those were days in which BET actually portrayed black people positively!!!
you could'nt pay a thug today to sing in a group or sing a song like this to save his life.because this would be considered soft or gay. man it's really scary people i'm only 43 & in 20 years how music has when from love, passion, substance, creativity, to my dick,my bitch,my ride,my possee,my bling,my gun, the strip club and other senseless garbage.can any of these clowns slow it down and sing about love & passion? the era of great music & great groups are over.it's all thugged out now, real sad.
@str8outtatexas1 WOW im 29 and i totally agree with you! , Thank God there are groups like these here on YOUTUBE that remind us what it should be like. I grew up in these many changes in music but, There still is a little glimpse of hope because of the FEW good artist now that have depth and substance.
@str8outtatexas1 There are groups in this genre, but let's face it there's no market for them. Back then, yes, but nowadays it's like the same in mid 00s, just plain garbage.
@str8outtatexas1 I agree with you on that... im 44 now and a DJ and i used to play the new stuff a few months ago but not anymore. Old school still fills my heart with pure soul. 70s and 80s is my era of love.
@str8outtatexas1 Man, It's sad that music is so bad that I'm forced to watch youtube to see classics. I shouldn't have to do that when I can listen on my radio. But I can't, because it's nothing but garbage. One of the best bands in our time.
@str8outtatexas1 I agree with you - to a point. Why? Because, the dominant music scene today is the playground (PUN INTENDED) of the thug, B$#@!, court jester, village idiot, and MINSTREL, which in itself is a recipe for some mind-numbing, dumbing-down, ig'nant bullshit. When I'm in my car, I dont' even turn on the radio - especially talk radio, which also has mostly succumbed to this idiotic assault. I look for underground and independent artists for the most part as they rep intelligently.
@str8outtatexas1 i 4eva agree. they scared to reveal their REAl sides. nowadays, people are fakin it 2 be makin it. they only cared of this pettiness & money. ya cant take it 2 yall or come home knowin ya lonely on an bed. 4real these punks make it disgraceful 2 be an black man nowadays. anyways i love this song 2 death. when i see this song. i'll think of Martin & Gina of Martin show. the last show to show love in tha 90's
Being 38 (39 in June) I look at the quality of the lyrics and music from "Old School" and it makes me wonder what happened? Todays music is "microwave" and how the "slow cook method" is lost now days. The lyrics can make my younger sisters (27 & 25) tell me how women were seen as something to get back into your life and not just to get some "P" from. Sad huh? Can todays music make you tear up?
The S.O.S BAND, there will never be music like this again. They were ahead of their time. This is from the time when artists actually had talent. Not like the bastards of today. Whoever told Lil" chimp he should even attempt to get on a stage really lied to that boy. No talent even on accident.
i like the bad tracking on this. if i was really into making video, i'd try out distressing vhs tapes with magnets, bad tracking and repeated copying to create effects, kinda like boards of canada bouncing recordings back and forth between tape machines to give them a degraded sound.
wow! like i just started listening to this group...I'm 18 ..like i'm just going through their videos...this group is legendaryyy...never knew they was sampled so heavly...Scarface sampled this one with Smile...And Dj Jazzy Jeff and Fresh Prince-Looking for the one
One of my fav tracks of the "Sounds of Success" Band... another one is "Weekend Girl"... what a fantastic music which was brought 2 us by the 80s... Damn anyone have a time machine?! ;)
This is my Favorite S.O.S. Kut. Cruzing in So. Cal. in the Monte up on Whittier Blvd with my girl thinking about what comes next. Real music is timeless and this falls into that catagory . Thanks for the post.
es la primera vez q escucho esta cancion, es muy sensual, me hace pensar en una chica que ultimamente me llama la atencion , nose, bueno, conseguire esta cancion.
Who knows who the male vocalist lead is on this song. Made my day. Where is he today? And the video -- creativity at its finest. Wow! Pendev2745

Sad huh? Can todays music make you tear up?
blueopc 1 year ago 2
The S.O.S BAND, there will never be music like this again. They were ahead of their time. This is from the time when artists actually had talent. Not like the bastards of today. Whoever told Lil" chimp he should even attempt to get on a stage really lied to that boy. No talent even on accident.

i like the bad tracking on this. if i was really into making video, i'd try out distressing vhs tapes with magnets, bad tracking and repeated copying to create effects, kinda like boards of canada bouncing recordings back and forth between tape machines to give them a degraded sound.
