I have a ideal why not just stop taking money out of SS and the money that has been borrowed by this GOP Take it out of the GOP wages to pay back. I am sure that would stop these thieves in Congress
Though this is a step in the right direction, I'd rather have the choice of not having to put money into SS at all. I'm already contributing to an IRA and a 401k with the assumption that I will never see a penny out of SS when I'm old and crotchety.
Why does the government need to be involved in my retirement at all? Maybe I don't plan on retiring. Why should I put money into anything? He also stated 7.5%, what about the other 7.5%.
Why should I trust the government? They already changed the rules on me after paying into it for years.
A truly 'smart' plan for finding a solution. I've wonder why members of Congress who vote(d) to spend SS trust monies for non-SS trust expenses have been 'off the hook' for criminally breaking trust laws? The late Sen. Patrick Moynihan gave a speech years ago when the raiding of the SS Trust first started stating that trustees of any other trust would be 'going to jail.' And the SS trust is still being broken for non-SS spending with no prosecutions. Incredible!

Moving toward ownership and freedom is what scares liberals the most about real retirement security.
