the idea that in Salonica always lived Greeks came from political parties from Athens... Prior to Greek brutal invasion in Macedonia 1913 there were NO Greeks living there. The first Greeks were made by the British in Attica!!! Than they spread through Aromanians, Arvanites, Slavs, Roma (Gypsies) , Macedonians and others inPeloponesvs Tesalia, Epirvs, and Macedonia. The populations from Asia Minor were not Greek nor Greek speakers,they learned Greek, they were Hellenized.
