  • I was part of a Kata course at Wulfrun Judo Club (Wolverhampton) taken by Senta Yamada in I think, early 1960...poetry in motion when he performed ! Also had a session of Judo randori with him...unforgettable experience !

  • Now, this is how I learned the walks. This is how Merritt Stevens as well as Mike Pabst show them. I assume Merritt Sensei leaned them from Karl Geis this way but I don't know it for sure.

  • We who practice Tomiki's Aikido call the practice exercise in the video, euphemistacally, The Walk, or The Walking exercise it's a muscle-memory pattern builder, as all of the tomiki aikido's techniques movement pieces can be found in The Walk, in one part or another.

  • Tomiki dancing

  • Great video. My father was a student of Tomiki in Japan back in 1969. He was in the Air Force and received his black belt from Tomiki. He has told me lots of great stories. Again great video.

  • Beautiful. Nice big circles. Seeking the curve in the straight and the straight in the curve. It would be fun to play taiji with an akidoka. Respect.

  • very interesting. I have never seen this version. I was wondering if you know if this is an Aiki application of Tomiki's Judo Taiso, or was this exercise introduced by Miyake Sensei?

  • Yamada sensai is performing tomiki aikidos basic hand and foot movements. Tomikis judo is just judo he learned from kano and was sent to ueshiba to learn aikido. His judo is kanos judo if you like not that its refered to as kanos judo. His aikido is his system of aikido and this is just basic movements of it.
