  • i dont know how to do this and ou seem smart so do u know how to make a tent ot of garbage bags

  • Dual Survival guys cool.

  • Does anyone know - what happend now with Dave's problem with "the network"? (I hope I assume right, that he's talking about the "pathfinder network".)

I mean he is back uploading his own videos after a long break - he is one of the 2 hosts of "dual survival" on the discovery channel - so did he just get out of his contract or what happend?

I really would be happy for your answers! THANKS

  • and the earth was last nights bed....

  • Sorry Dave about the commentsof the self-professed psychiatrists who want to believe that they are second to none when it comes to criticizing others. Obviously a genetic character flaw in their lineage. BTW Dave, I am not a survival expert, but even I could tell by your video that you were not demonstrating no nonsense survivals skills, but only a means of using what hikers might run into on the trails if they became lost. What you used is what I consider to be standard hiking gear.

  • I love all this stuff, but in Scotland its a nightmare to do, always someone popping up telling you that 'You cant do that here, piss off back to the town'

Aristocrats own all the land and their lackeys are on constant lookout for the common man.

  • where's part 1 ?

  • @MsKakman "Part 1" is called "The spider shelter (my favorite type of debris shelter)." They labeled it differently than Part 2 and Part 3 so it's hard to find.

  • Anyone in the Pacific Northwest got any ideas what local plants to use for this?

  • life is all about passing what u know down

  • nice when family can share thier wisdom

  • You will find your sleeping mat will be a lot more comfortable is it is made of tall grasses or reeds and either a lot thicker or make two mats to sleep on and stack them.

Save the stick mat for the door. :)

  • well done.

  • you used 1000 feet of paracord? SWEET! thats how everyone can tell you're not bs

  • Dave are you going to be able to start shooting videos again once the Dual survival season finale airs or are you done making videos indefinately? Bye the way, Love the show man! Best line on the show " Im gonna go find a Lizard and Boppem on the head" ROFL!

  • wonder if you could build a raft like that just bigger

  • I would have liked more of a close-up on that mat. I don't quite understand how you tied them off at the ends. Were you tying 2 strings together that were side by side?

Also, the first bundled you started with looked as if it was placed on the ground under the strings. I may have to watch again..

  • 9 months on and STILL loving this shelter series...great info!

  • this is cool! thanks for the vid, yet again!

  • u should write a book with all this stuff

  • @josh2012

Dave said he had plans for a book which would go into his military experiences and bushcraft, as well. That was a couple of years ago. I asked him several times if he still planned on it but got no response. Busy guy, As a writer myself, I understand it is sometimes hard to find the time to force yourself to put the words to paper (or computer). Still waiting patiently, though.

  • Im going to build one by myself, i think i could just use a log or rock or something to lift it up. Wont be ass easy though.

  • I see how using a 4 foot bar to run across so you can lift the cords, before inserting a bundle of sticks. But, two or three people as a team could be efficient. It would be a good way to teach kids teamwork and confidence.

  • With the state that the world is in now some of this info is priceless. We all may need these skills,Thanks great series and as allways top notch.Joe

  • Holy crap! The last time i saw justin in one of your videos, he had short hair, He grew it out long!

  • It does seem unnaturally unintelligent for a tv network to claim ownership on a face, but, considering 60 some percent of the human genome is patented...

  • Love the vid presentation and the shelter!

Contracts, networks, executives, oh boy Dave has gone yuppie on us!Dave thats what happens when u get in bed with the devil! But reality dictates one must make a living.

  • Love your videos, and have great respect for what you do.

  • Hoo YaH -!!- Dave is back for a while!!

  • so happy for you buddy.

  • Thanks Dave! You could have not said anything and not made anything but your out here spreading the wealth of knowledge you're known for..

  • All your Tshirts gone?

  • i definatly want to try this.... i'd like to make wall and ceiling insulation out of this stuff. maybe tangle some dry leaves in there add to the heat retention..

  • wow dave! i thought your son would be younger! that is sweet, i love father son things... and it is great that at his age he is still by his side. love you man. tell your son hese cool too.

  • That's my youngest I one that's 23

  • @wildernessoutfitters - He needs a bloody haircut!

  • @AbsoluteMonarchist You will someday learn that the honor of a man's soul or the courage of his heart have NOTHING to do with the length of his hair.

  • What a load of shit...... Get a life...

  • @alanjakarta ummm, i don't think you have many friends judging by your extremly lame comment. if you would stop being some internet troll, and start actually using the internet for its original purpose, you would find that your life would get a ton happier and you might be able to move out your mommies house. ok? good. now shut it troll.

  • @huronhorde This has nothing to do with "survival Skills" this is "happy campers" with f-all else to do , because they/you have no friends and this is you. I do know what I am talking about, many years in Military Service. REAL survival work, is when, as you would do, have nothing ! No Knife, no fancy kit etc. But that would be wasting my time on you ! Happy Camping. So sad, it is laughable.

  • @alanjakarta its not hardcaore survival tactics for military personel its just basic skills for joe blow idaho with zero skills. which is a good thing cause last thing we need is a bunch of city slickers running around the woods swinging on fines lol. this is good survival leasons for free how you gonna knock it

  • @alanjakarta Do you watch the discovery channel? Did you ever see Dave in "dual survival"? - If you still think you are thougher than him - go and do a video of yourself prooving it... - if you manage to do that - you might become the new YouTube survival hero...

  • @alanjakarta You know. not everyone that serves in the military is a "commando", as most sit on a base %80 of their time served. TRUST me I know. For you to sit here and knock an ex-army srt/sniper PROVES this %100. He is taking knowledge and applying it for the civilan personnal. Take your attitude and move the FUCK on.Chump.

  • its good to have you back Dave

  • Good video dave

would the mat really be worth the string it would use wouldn't just grass piled in the shelter work

gut i guess its just more knowledge

  • that's looks like hold for a day or two...

  • Very cool. That shelter is looking good.

  • YAY for more vidio!

  • Will you be deleting videos, or just not posting new ones?

  • That was great, the mat would make an massive difference to warmth and comfort using a few metres of cordage, and it could be used to make a door of sorts to close the entrance..thanks Dave& son!

  • I'll miss your YouTube videos, but I'm excited to see your next project.

Will the videos stay on YouTube, or will you have to delete them?

  • I knew, ( or had a very good idea), probably most everyone watching did also, that it was either you in Pt 1, or a twin brother haha! your voice is absolutely recognisable in tone and comment style ! Very good attempt though, and not unexpected, given your heartfelt commitment to your viewers. Well done Dave as is so often said, " You are the Man ! "

  • COOL! DAVE like i posted b4 you are 1 of the best big dog! please keep doing what you are doing.

  • That loom is cool.

  • good to know there are still more videos coming along for a few more weeks. =)

  • nice mat!!:)

  • the mat, and the shelter for that matter, are highly dependant on what is in the area.

conceilment is a great advantage of that shelter, and im willing to be a shovel, and those mats could make it invisible, and quite comfy.

i think one could make great mats out of cattail, and tall grasses. after all, fences and pillows are great things.

great way to get yourself off the ground, if even just a little bit, would spread weight accrost "overly lumpy beddings"

  • Whoa...that made me sweat watching. I just pile in alot of leaves.

  • Dave, can you make videos and sell merchandise once the Dual Survivor series is over?

Sorry if you have already discussed this.

  • It's kinda crazy to buy rights of showing something, especial a face. So if You have to go out on street, You need to wwear a balaclava or smth? Crazy.

Nevertheless, another awesome video from uncle D ;)

  • Dave will you consider a hunting class or video or even a school dedicated to teaching the art of hunting?

  • Great video.

  • Why did you cut the paracord Dave?

I would have just tied an overhand knot and let the loops dangle. It isn't going to hurt anything inside your shelter and you've still got a large continuous piece of cordage if/when you need to breakdown that mat.

  • DAAAAAAAAAANG They OWN your face?

  • hahaha nice way of putting it :D

  • No I am not suppose to appear in Videos other than the series without network permission!

  • @wildernessoutfitters Face mask. Easy fix.

  • Well looking at all the hair the boy has on his head you had enough you could have cut off for wall to wall carpet in the shelter and some left over for a door :P

  • I bet thats what the Native American did with thier Hair?

  • hey dave where do u recommend i buy a good wooden bow on the internet?

  • Hurray on the videos and knives! Wooooot.

  • yaaaa!!!!!

  • Dave about how much cord did you have to use? good looking hooch hut

  • That's the best shelter I've seen you build in over a year Dave! If I'm not mistaken, I believe this is the first debris hut type shelter you've built for us. I know you started a wiki type, but never saw it finished! VERY NICELY DONE, THANKS!

  • Not much on shelters for everyday I am sleep under the stars kinda guy but for cold weather or long term camp this is great shelter. I am glad you like it, stay tuned we will be finishing it over the next couple days.

  • Nice work...looks cozy :o)

  • wow its been that long since justins been on camera lol loooks good buddie

  • Good to hear Dave make em while you can.

  • dave how long is construction time of this shelter?

  • About 1.5 hours so far for the shelter but I am not finished yet!

  • u need to tell ur son about some clippers

  • Justin needs a haircut badly dave. Need to borrow my clippers?

  • Great job Dave!

  • great to see ya back on here. Even if it's only for a week. great video

  • Great job on the loom Bro!

You make it look easy.. Terrific video

  • Not as Good as The BCOF Loom but I was in a hurry and didnt want to redo when I realized the stakes were too short.

  • Are you scamming us Dave? lol

  • Sorry for the Roller Coaster Ride man, I am on one to! Lawyer and Contracts are confusing to me!

  • nice job dave! perfect as usual!

  • you know your serious when you break out the empty 1000' spool of paracord !! thats a hole lot of bushcrafting dave!!

  • I think taller stake with the cordage tied at the top would have made it easier. 5/5 though. Thanks

  • Great video dave, you know so much its unbelievable.

  • hey Dave, how are you mate?

Just a quick question. How long did it take you to build the whole shelter?

    Greetings from England!

    pete

  • Bout 1.5 Hours so Far! Not finished yet mate!

  • That's a great revelation!
