Does anyone know - what happend now with Dave's problem with "the network"? (I hope I assume right, that he's talking about the "pathfinder network".)
I mean he is back uploading his own videos after a long break - he is one of the 2 hosts of "dual survival" on the discovery channel - so did he just get out of his contract or what happend?
Sorry Dave about the commentsof the self-professed psychiatrists who want to believe that they are second to none when it comes to criticizing others. Obviously a genetic character flaw in their lineage. BTW Dave, I am not a survival expert, but even I could tell by your video that you were not demonstrating no nonsense survivals skills, but only a means of using what hikers might run into on the trails if they became lost. What you used is what I consider to be standard hiking gear.
I love all this stuff, but in Scotland its a nightmare to do, always someone popping up telling you that 'You cant do that here, piss off back to the town'
Aristocrats own all the land and their lackeys are on constant lookout for the common man.
@MsKakman "Part 1" is called "The spider shelter (my favorite type of debris shelter)." They labeled it differently than Part 2 and Part 3 so it's hard to find.
You will find your sleeping mat will be a lot more comfortable is it is made of tall grasses or reeds and either a lot thicker or make two mats to sleep on and stack them.
Dave are you going to be able to start shooting videos again once the Dual survival season finale airs or are you done making videos indefinately? Bye the way, Love the show man! Best line on the show " Im gonna go find a Lizard and Boppem on the head" ROFL!
I would have liked more of a close-up on that mat. I don't quite understand how you tied them off at the ends. Were you tying 2 strings together that were side by side?
Also, the first bundled you started with looked as if it was placed on the ground under the strings. I may have to watch again..
Dave said he had plans for a book which would go into his military experiences and bushcraft, as well. That was a couple of years ago. I asked him several times if he still planned on it but got no response. Busy guy, As a writer myself, I understand it is sometimes hard to find the time to force yourself to put the words to paper (or computer). Still waiting patiently, though.
I see how using a 4 foot bar to run across so you can lift the cords, before inserting a bundle of sticks. But, two or three people as a team could be efficient. It would be a good way to teach kids teamwork and confidence.
It does seem unnaturally unintelligent for a tv network to claim ownership on a face, but, considering 60 some percent of the human genome is patented...
Contracts, networks, executives, oh boy Dave has gone yuppie on us!Dave thats what happens when u get in bed with the devil! But reality dictates one must make a living.
i definatly want to try this.... i'd like to make wall and ceiling insulation out of this stuff. maybe tangle some dry leaves in there add to the heat retention..
wow dave! i thought your son would be younger! that is sweet, i love father son things... and it is great that at his age he is still by his side. love you man. tell your son hese cool too.
@alanjakarta ummm, i don't think you have many friends judging by your extremly lame comment. if you would stop being some internet troll, and start actually using the internet for its original purpose, you would find that your life would get a ton happier and you might be able to move out your mommies house. ok? good. now shut it troll.
@huronhorde This has nothing to do with "survival Skills" this is "happy campers" with f-all else to do , because they/you have no friends and this is you. I do know what I am talking about, many years in Military Service. REAL survival work, is when, as you would do, have nothing ! No Knife, no fancy kit etc. But that would be wasting my time on you ! Happy Camping. So sad, it is laughable.
@alanjakarta its not hardcaore survival tactics for military personel its just basic skills for joe blow idaho with zero skills. which is a good thing cause last thing we need is a bunch of city slickers running around the woods swinging on fines lol. this is good survival leasons for free how you gonna knock it
@alanjakarta Do you watch the discovery channel? Did you ever see Dave in "dual survival"? - If you still think you are thougher than him - go and do a video of yourself prooving it... - if you manage to do that - you might become the new YouTube survival hero...
@alanjakarta You know. not everyone that serves in the military is a "commando", as most sit on a base %80 of their time served. TRUST me I know. For you to sit here and knock an ex-army srt/sniper PROVES this %100. He is taking knowledge and applying it for the civilan personnal. Take your attitude and move the FUCK on.Chump.
That was great, the mat would make an massive difference to warmth and comfort using a few metres of cordage, and it could be used to make a door of sorts to close the entrance..thanks Dave& son!
I knew, ( or had a very good idea), probably most everyone watching did also, that it was either you in Pt 1, or a twin brother haha! your voice is absolutely recognisable in tone and comment style ! Very good attempt though, and not unexpected, given your heartfelt commitment to your viewers. Well done Dave as is so often said, " You are the Man ! "
It's kinda crazy to buy rights of showing something, especial a face. So if You have to go out on street, You need to wwear a balaclava or smth? Crazy.
Nevertheless, another awesome video from uncle D ;)
I would have just tied an overhand knot and let the loops dangle. It isn't going to hurt anything inside your shelter and you've still got a large continuous piece of cordage if/when you need to breakdown that mat.
Well looking at all the hair the boy has on his head you had enough you could have cut off for wall to wall carpet in the shelter and some left over for a door :P
That's the best shelter I've seen you build in over a year Dave! If I'm not mistaken, I believe this is the first debris hut type shelter you've built for us. I know you started a wiki type, but never saw it finished! VERY NICELY DONE, THANKS!
Not much on shelters for everyday I am sleep under the stars kinda guy but for cold weather or long term camp this is great shelter. I am glad you like it, stay tuned we will be finishing it over the next couple days.
i dont know how to do this and ou seem smart so do u know how to make a tent ot of garbage bags

bushmag 2 years ago
the mat, and the shelter for that matter, are highly dependant on what is in the area.
conceilment is a great advantage of that shelter, and im willing to be a shovel, and those mats could make it invisible, and quite comfy.
i think one could make great mats out of cattail, and tall grasses. after all, fences and pillows are great things.
great way to get yourself off the ground, if even just a little bit, would spread weight accrost "overly lumpy beddings"
