I don't get why anyone thought Cena's promo was good. All he did was call Rock gay for making Disney movies and complained, once again, about him being retired.
It was the same boring promo that Cena used to do when he come out rapping and would get "go away "heat from the crowd. Which is the same heat he stills gets.

As far as Cena's new promo, I think it opens things up for him to feud with the Rock. Cena can easily turn heel now that there's a bigger face in the company. There's quite literally NOTHING that indicates Undertaker retiring.
They're trying to build up the young guys, but none of them are ready, and none of them right now even deserve that kind of a push, so this is simply them putting two money veterans together to end the show. Next year, or two years down the road, it may be different.
At any rate, your theory doesn't have a leg to stand on.

Both WWE and TNA are having an amazing 2011. Consistently good shows all year. Whatever wrestling has been missing for the last decade is back, whatever it is.
Forget NXT or FCW or whatever, just have Vince buy ROH and use that as a talent builder, don't change the format of ROH just put money into it and use it as a training ground, allow these guys to perfect their craft and tour in Japan and Mexico ON THEIR OWN. Instead of molding them WWE style, allow these guys to bring their own style.
@DamonBrande1991 Because these retirement type matches between two guys who are passed their prime do nothing to help push younger talent. Why not give a younger guy the opportunity to shine against an established legend. Flair "retired" to Michaels, Michaels to Taker, there's no point to the matches as they don't lead to anywhere. Plus why does HHH want to face Taker? It seems like a desperate lazy excuse of a match instead of being creative and making a new star.
@DamonBrande1991 The streak doesn't need to be ended but in the last Manias that Taker has I'd much rather see a younger guy face him.
Like take a look at Shawn Michaels. 2 years in a row he faces Taker. They had a the perfect storyline to set Shawn to pass the torch. Bret back, talks of Shawn's ego, Taker could have told Shawn to "Do the right thing" and they could have had a mystery who he would face. Then have it be John Morrison. Giving Morrison the push, Shawn passing the torch.
H.B.K.'s last match is a draw on it's own. Doesn't matter who he wants to face.
Not saying you have to face someone at Mania to put them over but you have to build new stars. It's impossible to do this by allowing the veterans to retire themselves and have "their" big moments at major PPV's. You have to show they can hold their own against the veterans and can get people to "believe" them.
You also don't have to have the veteran stars retire against a younger guy. Also the story line would be messed up since Shawn put his career on the line to face Taker again.
It is possible to do that, you have them put over at another PPV. They were put over then the crowd possibly believes them. HBK already put over the likes of Orton, but he didn't have to be retired and lose at Mania to do it.
I also think Morrison is overrated quite honestly.
@AmericanNohbuddy How would the storyline be messed up. The commentators were going on about how much Morrison reminded them of Michaels. Taker already beat him. Bret and everyone else reminded Shawn about is backstage politics and ego from the past. So Brett tells Shawn to "Do the right thing" and not take the easy way out and Shawn faces a younger guy to pass the torch (which is what Bret wasn't willing to do for him).
@TheForgottenFlesh Look at what is possibly the greatest career in Pro Wrestling history. Lou Thesz. Last match at 74 years of age. Did he face another veteran? No, he faced a young Masahiro Chono (Who was also his student) and passed the torch. Now look where Chono is. He's huge.
Shawn wanted to beat Taker at mania. He said if he can't do it, there is nothing. That's why he put his career on the line, plus Taker told him he'd accept if he did that.
Lou Thesz was already semi retired when he faced Chono. That's like Flair today having a match now and then. And plus, that was in Japan where no one in America gives a damn besides internet fans.
You don't have to have a veteran lose his career to a young guy. HBK jobbed to Orton in 07, look at him now.
@AmericanNohbuddy Yes you need to make money and you aren't going to make it with 50 plus guys past their prime. You need to build talent. Who there in WWE right now has HHH made? A win over a veteran in a retirement match helps jump start careers. Out with the old, in with the new. The only reason why I say Morrison is because everyone was comparing him to HBK and (as David said) he hasn't had a big win.
@TheForgottenFlesh This is where greed comes in, instead of the veterans building new talent and putting them over in every way shape and form. Not giving any of the younger guys a big win or even a big angle puts them at a disadvantage when all the veterans are gone. No one believes them, they haven't got a big win. Ignorance comes in when people won't let go of the past, because if Ziggler, Kingston or Bryan gets the title all anyone has to say is "If Taker or HHH was still here"
@TheForgottenFlesh There are tons of guys with HUGE amounts of talent but aren't being given the chance to face a veteran on a big scale. Not even saying you have to beat them in a retirement match, but look at a situation if Bryan made HHH tap out or even Taker tap out, it would elevate them to a huge platform. The veterans have NOTHING to lose by putting these guys over or even retiring to them.
@TheForgottenFlesh The reason why wrestling is in the state it's in, especially in TNA is because people won't let go of the past and no one is trying anything fresh or new. Hell, imagine if a star from Mexico or Japan came in and they pushed him instead of just using them as jobbers. Imagine Mistico (Who's the second biggest draw in wrestling now) as World Champion on smackdown. Having a veteran retire to a younger guy brings nothing but good to the company and future business.
Never said you shouldn't build up a star. But if it's someone like HBK's last match, give him who he wants to face. As I said before why does it have to be on that particular match? Can't be another match?
"Having a veteran retire to a younger guy brings nothing but good to the company and future business. "
You know that because you run a wrestling company, right? I'm amazed you used 4 comments.
@AmericanNohbuddy Your point was a veteran should decide who he wants to have his last match with. What if HHH beats Taker at Mania and then retires That be HORRIBLE. As David said, these guys have egos, HUGE ones, there is no harm or shame in them losing to a young star. I mean hell, imagine if Flair asked to wrestle his last match against Harley Race. It doesn't matter if it happened in Japan or not, Thesz wanting to have his last match against a younger guy instead of one of his old friends
@TheForgottenFlesh It doesn't matter if it happened in Japan or not, Thesz wanting to have his last match against a younger guy instead of one of his old friends does far more than him wrestling Inoki again.
Triple H v Undertaker was awesome the last time they met at WM 17, despite there ages i dont see it being anything but awesome this time too, and this time there will be no rock v stone cold to steal the show
is it just me or does HHH vs taker at WM seem pointless as hell? I mean both of them have unresolved beef with people that claimed to take them both out for good. There is no way either of their ego's would let them not take on Sheamus and Kane respectively. The stare down was just a way for them not to take up any more show by bringing both of them back in the same segment.
@Leg3ndKilla687 dude i will be the first person to back u up that the rock is awesome on the mic & can insult with the best of them BUT (if u notice that's a pretty big but) he's had seven years since stepping foot in a wwe ring. so its a little biased thinking to say he popped up on raw out of the blue like a pimple on prom night & came up with his insults of cena on the fly. he's been gone 7 years! like cena or not he spoke the truth.
i kinda feel like WWE commentators didnt hype the return of taker and HHH enough. its like a separate sideshow. i feel they need to have shockwaves running through the locker room about the returns of two great names. whatever happened to kane and taker at mania?
you guys cant be serious Eminem is not more popular then he was back in 03 with the Eminem show. and john cena's word life gimmick was so over it wasnt a small audience every one was behind cena and if you don't believe me go watch draft lottery 04 when cena came out and watch the reaction. u guys might not be in to rap but theres no denying ones popularity when kids to adults liked cena
@saiyenblood Having been at the taping in Fresno, (mind that Fresno could be considered ghetto) the only ones into Cena were the kids, not all of them, and the ones into rap music. Everyone else booed him.
you guys (the pwr team) made it sound like the rock was going to solve all of the wwe's problems, that they were going to go in another direction, the reset of wwe, but what do i see when i turn to look at raw? the same old boring stuff, you guys blow everything out of proportion, nothing changed and nothing is going to change...
@acmilan32 I have to disagree the fans were the ones blowing things out of proportion. The way some fans acted you might have thought Jesus Christ came back, lol. The Rock is alright but things are not going to completley change just because he is back. It gives the business a needed boost which is good and got people talking again.
As an avid viewer / watcher of PWR for the past 3 - 4 years, I hate to say that I find the radio show unbearable to listen to lately. Listening to Nelson and Herro giving out to each other every 2 minutes over Cody Rhodes / Evan Bourne / The Miz etc is more annoying than listening to King and Striker on commentary. Please stop arguing, its not funny / entertaining.
you guys are like little girls damen and company. You guys complain about cena's promos and was it a couple weeks ago when you guys said that u wanted to see cena back to raping? and this one upping rock thing that you guys complaning about. ah hello isnt that how a promo goes? one man trys to one up the other. but when u get what you want you want to complain more. and king vs cole are you kidding me!
Don't write Sheamus out yet. At least when he lost to Henry, they had the whole exposed turnbuckle thing, so they are at least trying to book Sheamus strong. And just because he had a backstage promo with Daniel Bryan doesn't mean a match between the two at Wrestlemania. Sheamus could still have a main event feud, only time will tell.....
The sheer audacity of Cena to say the Rock copies him every chance he gets? Are you fucking kidding me? This from the man who invented the 5-knuckle shuffle... THE MOST BLATANT RIP-OFF OF THE PEOPLE'S ELBOW IN HISTORY!!! Cena needs to be decapitated.
Everything at the moment wit the WWE is going good except for one thing, bring back Stryker as an announcer on Smackdown. If they have to remove one person from that team tis easy, Josh Matthews. Stryker was dynamic and knew his stuff. He also projected plenty of enthusiasm that brought back a lot of excitement to the show.
The reason people complain about TNA using old stars and not WWE is very simple. The young stars in TNA are actually talented and people want to see them wrestle. John Cena and company are terrible wrestlers hence we need to see the stars of the past to get some decent wrestling.
The Undertaker's streak is never going to end. He will go 20 and 0 at WM and then retire. The streak is a once in a lifetime thing. They will never be able to capture that again with another wrestler.
I'd like for Christian to cost Edge the World Championship at Mania to kick off a feud between Edge and Christian. Then Del Rio and Mysterio pick up unfinished buisness to feud for the title.
here is my prediction on Miz vs Cena at WM 27(and this depends on how everything goes down. Simply put: Miz will not walk out of Wrestlemania with the WWE Championship!
@WMAHero of course not. miz cannot walk out champion just like you dont beat hulk hogan or triple h for the title at mania. will never happen, they suck too much dick for that.
Dameon Nelson theres a big difference in how WWE use older wrestlers than how TNA does. WWE use them but at the same time build and promote younger talent while TNA thinks their company should revolve around them BIG BIG DIFFERENCE sorry to say but Dameon knows nothing.
@KingHotdog You're an idiot, you just confused the WWE and TNA.
TNA builds young talent through old vets, while the WWE puts all young 1 year wrestlers out there to fail on national TV every week.
Do you know anything about wrestling, have you ever listened to a shoot interview? I mean no former wrestler thinks WWE is building young talent, they are ruining young talent.
@youngbuck189 i believe you are an idiot nobody will believe a damn word you said and with a name like youngbuck (generation queer) of course you will suck TNAs dick i will give facts and u can give out fan boy bull THE END.
@KingHotdog yea alright King Hot dog, you like mustreally like hot dogs?
get off your loser ass and get in the gym. cuz unlike you, im in great fucking shape, got a body built for wrestling and i put time into understand the business.
you wouldn't know anything about any of those things, but ill give you some advice: hang yourself.
@youngbuck189 spoken like a total retard oh and btw as for ur earlier comment on guys like Hogan and Triple H just dont lose the belt at wrestlemania well Hogan lost it to Warrior and Triple H lost it to Batista maybe you should spend a little more time trying to understand the business lol ur such a loser.
@KingHotdog i stopped watching wrestling for 5 years because WWE sucked so badly. i know HHH lost, but to whom? Batista, whom the company created.
Again, which person has beaten a company boy at Wrestlemania? Which one?
Which fucking one? Oh thats right they only lose to other company kiss asses. Fucking Val Venis was more over than HHH is in 1999 and 2000. But who went on to be multiple time champion? The guy who married into the family, the guy who kissed ass. Get real kid.
I was at Raw in Fresno and from the way that nothing was said I do not think there is any career on the line or else there would have been some "verbal" communication. If anything HHH jobs to Taker here, and HHH might do what Shawn did and lose to Taker two years in a row with both of them retiring at next wrestlemania. HHH has too much left to do to be done in 4 weeks.
What would you guys think of The Rock being Special guest ref for Miz/Cena. To be fair that's the only way I can see The Miz winning i.e The Rock screwing John Cena
@sel130 I agree that Rock will prob be the Ref but I expect to see Rock count out MIZ and then Rock and Cena with their arms raised at the end much like Austin and special guest ref Mike Tyson did in the past.
@walking00dead i was gonna say the samething.. im no cena fan but lastnite he went in on the rock.. in dare i say a attitude era sorta way.. i enjoyed
I think the WWE is doing a good job of building new stars and building towards WM. Even if everyone does not agree that it is the right ones being used or it is not the matches they want to see the WWE is doing an excellent job of building to Wrestlemania I think.
I just hope that the Sheamus/DBD confrontation means that Bryan Danielson will get a one on one match at Wrestlemania.
No. Listen to former wrestlers in shoot interviews, 90% of them directly criticize WWE for ruining young talent.
They take guys with 2 years in FCW, as soon as they win the FDW Title, they move to WWE TV. Where do you think Nexus came from?
These guys they bring up are young(literally 22-27), inexperienced, and don't have any clue as to how to get over. They are clueless in the ring, and it's obvious to anyone who has watched wrestling for any period of time.
@youngbuck189 No, I agree with you. I read once that HHH wanted overahul the developemental system which would be a good idea. They do put people on tv way too soon. What I was talking about was the youth movement wich they should have done long before. If they had built up new stars sooner than they sould not have to shove some of them down our throats or give them the titles too soon to try and get them over. They are trying to build up the young stars now. Just should have done it sooner.
I enjoyed Raw. HHH and the Undertaker segment was great. They did not even have to talk. I think Sting will come to the WWE before he ofically reitres but not now. I am sure the WWE tried to get. I hope they did anyway.
What I don't get is what was the point of having to Corre lose the belts and then win them right back? They could have just had Miz turn on Cena and the Corre beat them without losing the belts.
@kimm821 That was all done to make the miz look stronger. He gets the clean pin to win the titles and then the second match he leaves cena hi and dry. He's shown that he can beat them now he makes himself get some more heat by leaving cena. i actually thought that was good booking.
Wrestlemania 2000 they didnt go home happy because A heel Triple H beat the Rock,Mick Foley and The Big Show. Also Wrestlemania 17 Austin turned heel in the process of beating the Rock. You could say fans went home upset at Wrestlemania 26 when HBK retired. Apart from these manias the fans went home happy
am i the only one that noticed noone recognised the HHH Vs. Undertaker confrontation, the commentators didn't even mention that or the 2/21/11 promos. It was like it was a dream.
this was a great opportunity to grab sting and give him one match and a spot in the hof. if hes limited in the ring now, hes gonna be worse the longer they wait.
@jbunit2007 yes it was better than the rocks promo about cena, however whats worrying is that the rock who has been away for SEVEN years says a few things about cena and the entire crownd boo the man that has been presented as their hero for the last seven years.
The entire 2-21-11 thing turned out to be an epic failure. They talked it up for weeks as if it was a big deal, and the payoff is a normal Undertaker entrance, followed by a normal HHH entrance, followed by 5 minutes of them staring at each other?
Where was the buildup? Where was the energy? It seemed so rushed...almost like they knew a lot of people were hoping for Sting or something really huge, but they knew they couldn't make it happen..so just tossed something together.
@TheMountainMan84 your joking right? Not everyone is a smark that knows whats going on first of all. Second sometimes words do not need to be said to have a great promo.

It is possible to do that, you have them put over at another PPV. They were put over then the crowd possibly believes them. HBK already put over the likes of Orton, but he didn't have to be retired and lose at Mania to do it.
I also think Morrison is overrated quite honestly.
AmericanNohbuddy 1 year ago
@AmericanNohbuddy How would the storyline be messed up. The commentators were going on about how much Morrison reminded them of Michaels. Taker already beat him. Bret and everyone else reminded Shawn about is backstage politics and ego from the past. So Brett tells Shawn to "Do the right thing" and not take the easy way out and Shawn faces a younger guy to pass the torch (which is what Bret wasn't willing to do for him).
TheForgottenFlesh 1 year ago
@TheForgottenFlesh Look at what is possibly the greatest career in Pro Wrestling history. Lou Thesz. Last match at 74 years of age. Did he face another veteran? No, he faced a young Masahiro Chono (Who was also his student) and passed the torch. Now look where Chono is. He's huge.
TheForgottenFlesh 1 year ago
@TheForgottenFlesh
AmericanNohbuddy 1 year ago
@AmericanNohbuddy And this is why this business is going to suffer. Greed and ignorance.
TheForgottenFlesh 1 year ago
@TheForgottenFlesh
Greed and arrogance? It's a business first of all, you need to make money.
Second, my point still stands. You don't HAVE to have a new guy beat a veteran who is having a retirement match. Flair asked for Michaels anyway.
I'm still wondering why it should be Morrison in the first place. I really find him overrated.
AmericanNohbuddy 1 year ago
@AmericanNohbuddy Yes you need to make money and you aren't going to make it with 50 plus guys past their prime. You need to build talent. Who there in WWE right now has HHH made? A win over a veteran in a retirement match helps jump start careers. Out with the old, in with the new. The only reason why I say Morrison is because everyone was comparing him to HBK and (as David said) he hasn't had a big win.
TheForgottenFlesh 1 year ago
@TheForgottenFlesh This is where greed comes in, instead of the veterans building new talent and putting them over in every way shape and form. Not giving any of the younger guys a big win or even a big angle puts them at a disadvantage when all the veterans are gone. No one believes them, they haven't got a big win. Ignorance comes in when people won't let go of the past, because if Ziggler, Kingston or Bryan gets the title all anyone has to say is "If Taker or HHH was still here"
TheForgottenFlesh 1 year ago
@TheForgottenFlesh There are tons of guys with HUGE amounts of talent but aren't being given the chance to face a veteran on a big scale. Not even saying you have to beat them in a retirement match, but look at a situation if Bryan made HHH tap out or even Taker tap out, it would elevate them to a huge platform. The veterans have NOTHING to lose by putting these guys over or even retiring to them.
TheForgottenFlesh 1 year ago
@TheForgottenFlesh The reason why wrestling is in the state it's in, especially in TNA is because people won't let go of the past and no one is trying anything fresh or new. Hell, imagine if a star from Mexico or Japan came in and they pushed him instead of just using them as jobbers. Imagine Mistico (Who's the second biggest draw in wrestling now) as World Champion on smackdown. Having a veteran retire to a younger guy brings nothing but good to the company and future business.
TheForgottenFlesh 1 year ago
@TheForgottenFlesh
AmericanNohbuddy 1 year ago
@AmericanNohbuddy Okay prove me wrong. Why would it hurt or be bad for the future business?
TheForgottenFlesh 1 year ago
@TheForgottenFlesh
If you NEVER build a star, yes. But that wasn't my argument at all.
AmericanNohbuddy 1 year ago
@AmericanNohbuddy Your point was a veteran should decide who he wants to have his last match with. What if HHH beats Taker at Mania and then retires That be HORRIBLE. As David said, these guys have egos, HUGE ones, there is no harm or shame in them losing to a young star. I mean hell, imagine if Flair asked to wrestle his last match against Harley Race. It doesn't matter if it happened in Japan or not, Thesz wanting to have his last match against a younger guy instead of one of his old friends
TheForgottenFlesh 1 year ago
@TheForgottenFlesh It doesn't matter if it happened in Japan or not, Thesz wanting to have his last match against a younger guy instead of one of his old friends does far more than him wrestling Inoki again.
TheForgottenFlesh 1 year ago
@TheForgottenFlesh
That wasn't my overall point, that was in one of my later comments.
It's not like they couldn't put someone else over in a match before.
Good for Thesz then, but because he did it everyone else should do it?
The world of wrestling won't end if they have Taker/HHH. The world didn't end when it was Flair/HBK which was emotional and amazing.
If you care so much start your own wrestling promotion.

is it just me or does HHH vs taker at WM seem pointless as hell? I mean both of them have unresolved beef with people that claimed to take them both out for good. There is no way either of their ego's would let them not take on Sheamus and Kane respectively. The stare down was just a way for them not to take up any more show by bringing both of them back in the same segment.

Everything at the moment wit the WWE is going good except for one thing, bring back Stryker as an announcer on Smackdown. If they have to remove one person from that team tis easy, Josh Matthews. Stryker was dynamic and knew his stuff. He also projected plenty of enthusiasm that brought back a lot of excitement to the show.
martinf74 1 year ago
The reason people complain about TNA using old stars and not WWE is very simple. The young stars in TNA are actually talented and people want to see them wrestle. John Cena and company are terrible wrestlers hence we need to see the stars of the past to get some decent wrestling.

I just hope that the Sheamus/DBD confrontation means that Bryan Danielson will get a one on one match at Wrestlemania.
kimm821 1 year ago
@kimm821 ?????????
They are clueless in the ring, and it's obvious to anyone who has watched wrestling for any period of time.
youngbuck189 1 year ago
@youngbuck189 yeah you're right. They don't build them up properly. They just shove them down our throats week in week out.
NewAgeOutlaw123 1 year ago
@youngbuck189 No, I agree with you. I read once that HHH wanted overahul the developemental system which would be a good idea. They do put people on tv way too soon. What I was talking about was the youth movement wich they should have done long before. If they had built up new stars sooner than they sould not have to shove some of them down our throats or give them the titles too soon to try and get them over. They are trying to build up the young stars now. Just should have done it sooner.

The entire 2-21-11 thing turned out to be an epic failure. They talked it up for weeks as if it was a big deal, and the payoff is a normal Undertaker entrance, followed by a normal HHH entrance, followed by 5 minutes of them staring at each other?
