It sucks falling like that on the take off, but keeping up your composure is the the best thing you can do. I appreciate her bravery. Being a champion/competitor is about showing how strong you are. Mao did that. She deserved that gold, and the Olympic silver medal.

i think that is very true but she is, fortunately or unfortunately, truly athlete. she is trying new things every year. three 3A in the short and free programs were part of her big challenge. in addition to it, her 2nd triple has got downgraded ridiculously many times in the last season. and lutz was judged as wrong edge. she was sorta required to choose this program. but!! meaning, she has so much more she can do! go mao!
I miss this Mao. Where's the grace, the musicality this year? She's all power and triple axels now. Boring programs and uninspiring music, and for the Olympic season too.
I hope she gets back to triple-triples and a more lyrical style. And then she and Yu-Na can have a proper rivalry again.
There's just something that's so bewitching about Mao's skating. I've watched a lot of other skaters but I end up coming back to her. She's so light, graceful and artistic on the ice, you can't take your eyes off her. :)

I have to say looking back at Mao's old programs they suited her so well. If u were to look at her new Free Skate to The Bells of Moscow the program is a disaster. Poor Mao is losing the fire she once had and i am sorry but she deserves lighter programs not heavy programs that suffocate her underneath lots of difficulty. Because of this we will not see her in Japan at the site of the Grand Prix final

totally wrong edge on take off at 5:23-24.. can't tell the difference between her flips and lutz.... no consistency on her triple axels.. she's losing her confidence... good luck in Van Couver~~
A flip is supposed on the inside! She had indeed a strong inside edge on her Lutz and so do I! But she's correcting it which isn't easy at all. I'm also correcting my lutz.

No, I mean even if she shows superb performance infront of you, you gonna thumb down to her. Do you even see abroad commentary? Everybody praised her performance that night. She deserves 207 points, even better. As your standard, Asada is the best. but you should know others aren't.

失敗しても挫けない真央ちゃんと、それを応援する観客があったればこその優勝！正直本人だけで立ち直るのは難しかったと思う。日本人は一度失敗すると本人の心が折れたり、周りの見方が厳しかったりして浮き上がるのが難しいと言われるが、失敗を恐れずチャレンジする心とそれをちゃんと評価する環境の大切さを改めて知った気がした。

It sucks falling like that on the take off, but keeping up your composure is the the best thing you can do. I appreciate her bravery. Being a champion/competitor is about showing how strong you are. Mao did that. She deserved that gold, and the Olympic silver medal.
