I really wish to read the book, because the movie is absolutely amazing, but I don't understand it as well as I could if I had read the book. Can anyone explain to me a few things? Such as the ceiling being broken down, the need for high ceilings, why she even mixed her drugs to start with. :/

Wow, Joseph Cross is incredible in this scene. No words at all, but the audience can feel the emotion he is portraying in his character like being hit with a ton of bricks! That takes a talented actor and he nailed it. Annette Bening is great too, that one word "Surprise" having a painful double meaning there....such a great film, I recommend it to all in search of a quality piece of cinema.

i read the book wayyy before i actually got to watching the movie and i must say, the book is way better. i've got to admit that i was very dissapointed when i watched the movie. they left out sooo many things and it just didnt make me feel how the book made me feel. but this scene is the only scene that i actually liked. its the only time that you actually understand Deirdre's illness.
