  • Canada loves you too

  • I seen Doc today...he looked pretty good for 64! Thats not bad going for what I could only imagine his Rock lifestyle would have been...very polite gentleman and it was a privilege to be in the same shop...Thanks Doc Neeson!

  • Saw them in Seattle, Paramount Theater when this album was released. Was my first concert ever as a kid. Brilliant.

  • Doc and boys deserve a A+ for effort and passion, but I think nobody can escape Father time.

  • @4JayeP Yeah I remember throughout the 80s Doc looked ageless (kinda like Cliff Richard), but time always catches up (with interest!) to those people eventually. Probably the heroin addiction didn't help either.

  • I saw this band twice in Vancouver Canada - seriously awesome band - they were known here in BC as Angel City. They rock. Canada loves them

  • Jeez they sound a little flat..

  • saw them in sawtell in the 90's had an awsome heavy sound, awsome night. some guy got owned at the front of the stage.

  • In the early 80's Doc was one of the best frontmen in the world.anyone who's seen Narara 1983 will know what i'm talking about

the energy on stage is amazing

In my opinon the best in the history of OZ rock.

  • Ah! The original lineup - thank god - The Angels were horrible in the 80's and even worse without Doc, if you don't believe me check out the Live at the basement DVD - this is like they never went away, possibly even better than they were, something about that voice and the guitar sounds that just worked. Doc has aparently been ill after a serious car accident a few years back. Jeez I left Oz 12 years ago - it looks like footy rules over there now.

  • Gibts auch Deutsche Angels Fans?

  • @kasalla68 Ja

  • I don't think announcer meant 'in charge, in charge'. Of the band I mean. I think he meant it generically as in charge of the 'front man' role of all bands. That's the way I took it.

  • Saw them support Guns N Roses back in 1988 in Sydney....Wish their guitar sound was heavier these days. I love 'em, but man, this sounded very watered down. Compare their "Live at Narara" sound to this. I know they've aged, but that's no excuse!

  • I am from the U.S. I loved this band, saw them live many times at a local club. I thought and still think they were the best band ever. I never understood why they weren't superstars over here. They were and are way better than AC DC.

  • Good !! Voices doesn't change....

  • LOL

  • THEY ROCK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • saw them in 1978 in a chicago suburb (schaumburg) at b'ginnings night club, and they were great, i believe their band gear got stolen that night, always liked doc and the brewster brothers, they should have been huge in the states, though they had to be called angel city in the us, that caused confusion, loved em'

  • @highwaymaintainer I was there also, it was a club called Beggings and they were call Angel City then. I also remember their drum kit was stolen that night. Great sharing this memory. Take care.

  • I wonder why they didn't play Am I ever Gonna see your face again? ;).

  • Come to the east U.S please

  • Doc , your a champ! keep Fighting m8

  • They sound great here, awesome! I saw them around 1985 in Seattle opening for Triumph. It was too funny, they played about a 30 minute set, then Triumph's crew turned the house lights on and the PA off. The Angels then proceeded to turn their amps up and play a couple more tunes as a big FU to Triumph. Both bands were good but that memory has stuck with me.

  • GOD BLESS THE ANGELS

  • i think the most underated band of all time, im 24 i have only seen them 3 time but im working on it

  • I think I saw that Hordern Pavilion gig too in 91 with Cheap trick'. Probably saw them a good 10 or 15 times back in the day. They were awsome. I think the song where Doc disappears was Marseilles.

  • I used to see these guys at the Bondi life saver in Sydney

Doc would crawl all over the speakers an jump from the high stacks They were loud fast and exciting .

I am amazed i didn't loose my hearing

Best band of thier day for mine

  • I seen them more than 20 times..they used to ROCK....i recon theyve had their day now

  • Your a ballsack

  • It's a damn shame that these guys had to change the name in the U.S. due to that lame/doofus band "Angel" which had no significant Rock n Roll contribution in the least. God bless Doc, the Brewsters, Bidstrup & Bailey!! This is rock 'n' roll!!

  • "pulled out his teeth and they told him to grin / he gave em a smile pulled out a bottle of wine / said I never existed you've been wasting your time"

Great lyrics good to see them back and friends again. Oddly enough I saw them at Parramatta leagues in Sterlo's day!!

  • These guys gotta drag their asses up to North America for a tour. Mind you, they'd likely tell me to drag my ass down to see them in Oz.

  • In 1980 I saw the Angels two nights in a row supporting ACDC on the first two nights that Back in Black was performed live (in Melbourne, the town that both bands were embraced by as Sydney was into jangly guitar bands as opposed to balls out R'n'R). The Angels received encores on both nights even though everyone was waiting for ACDC. Probably the greatest two evenings of stadium rock EVER. I was 17 years old and I consider myself to be a very luck guy.

  • yep,i was there to champ..pretty awesome show hey..

i was 21,the loudest gig i have ever heard.

  • 30 Years Ive been listening to this band. Still KICKS ASS.Woo Hoo!!

  • I was at a live Angels concert in Sydney in the early 90's when at the end of the concert the band Cheap Trick came onstage and performed its a long way to the top if you wanna rock 'n' roll with the Angels. It was awesome. Does anyone know about this or were they at the same concert. I have more on this event

Also does any one have footage of this. They actually made a video out of this concert but for some reason the cheap trick duet was not in the video. video with this as unseen footage

  • I was there at the Horden Pavillion in Sydney. Yes I remember Cheap Trick coming on. I have the DVD, it has been released with the Narara DVD as a double - no cheap trick though

  • Personally my favourite Australian band. I've seen them live so many times I couldn't count it (I'd say at least 30). I was away when they played at Wyong this year which sucked. I'll have to keep an eye on tour dates.

Old Doc sounds like he needs to work out a bit if he was that rooted after one song :)

  • Please bear in mind, Doc almost died in a car accident awhile ago. He still is the man.

  • I've seen them about 8 or 9 times too, back in the day. I once drove from Sydney (Castle Hill) to Camden to see them.

Always a great show and a great band.

What's the song where Doc always disappears for a few minutes during a solo? Always wondering if he was shooting up or something...

  • I thought Doc was against drugs. In the 80s he was a big support of programs like the Drug Offensive.

    Can't place the song, sorry.

  • I remember in the early 90s they lent their song Tear Me Apart for a alchohol campaign... but around that time I'm sure Doc was also fighting a heroin addiction.

  • @PlanetWrok he's never done heroin...please do a bit of research b4 you make accusations like that :-|

  • @turnaboutintruder I read in a magazine about 10 years ago that he was battling a heroin addiction, or cocaine but I'm sure it was heroin - either way, he definately did have a drug addiction, but he's long clean now.

  • @PlanetWrok he had no drug addiction, he was on medication when a truck driver slammed into the back of his car, he was never on heroin

  • @turnaboutintruder Okay, you seem to know more about it than me. I'm sure I recall mention of an addiction to something, perhaps painkiller medication, and definately required for such an accident. Anyway, there was no slander intented.

  • @GitarStu

Doc was seriously ill for 7 years man.....

  • my god 27 yrs and they still can rock the house i so wishi could be in aussie land to see them

  • they still deliver

  • Yes the angels have new material without neeson under the angels name. The Angels Live at the basement on cd and dvd IVORY STAIRS EP 2007 and as stated the 2008 tour ep with new song open that door. well worth the $5 for the song.

  • well i want to see doc perform ive never seen him but The Angels with John Brewster on vocals when i seen them 4 times where simply amazing they where great.

  • oh dear this is bad i saw the angels about 12 months ago without doc, rick brewster on lead 10 times better i think he pat his used by date i love the angels though

  • The Angels are BAAAAACK!! ROCK'N'ROLL and the planets are in alignment. Fuckin' A!

COME TO THE USA!! US YANKS LOVE YOU TOO!!

  • Yeah? How big were/are they over there?

  • Then why didnt you support them back in the day - they should have been bigger than ACDC but you ignored them!

  • Saw their recent concert and must say they were very disappointing. Was Doc on something - sure wasn't on the same planet! - the support band Nixon on the other hand were so vibrant and entertaining...my partner and I are over 50! Sorry Guys but you looked old and tired!

  • Yeah, Doc is looking much older here - but they sound okay to me in this performance, though I've not seen them live since their Skin & Bone days.

Have they got any new material?

  • Oh gee mum - do you have to embarrass us publicly on the web.

    Nixon

  • not embarrass - just praise!

  • The drummer is Buzz Bidstrup...

  • He's the original drummer, right?

  • Thanks for posting the vid. the NRL footy shows to late hear in VIC I'm glad to see that Doc Neeson still can hold a note.

  • The Angels are the best band in the universe. I'm so happy they're back. Now, if they would only make it to the US, I can die a happy man!

  • I doubt they'd make it to America much these days. I don't think they'd even get much more than local leagues clubs these days. They tried hard to crack it in the U.S. back in the late 80s, but it didn't work for them. Pity, cos I agree with you; they are awesome live band. I've seen them many times, and they ALWAYS go off! Some great great songs in their back catalogue.

Who is the drummer here? Not Brent Eccles by the looks of him.

  • yes sadly they didnt make in the states but there were some of us who did enjoy ood music
