i remember back in 1998, when the Philippines' music world when teenage boys were being awed by britney and christina, and girls are fighting and going gaga over backstreet boys and nsync.. me a teenage gay by the age of 13 accidentally surfed the channel to a live musical event hosted by our local music channel, i saw mariah performing and said to myself that "i can watch this, i know mariah and her songs" later did i realize that after mariah would come gloria (estefan) i still know her

having listened to my mom and dad sing her songs, i realized after gloria, that it was a concert of many female singers DIVAS was the word. I never really expected that that concert would open my eyes and my heart to the one and only QUEEN OF SOUL.. having heard celine go belt to belt and lung to lung with her and eventually seeing celine losing.. i knew that soul music would then and forever be my type of music.. this lady introduced me to the wonderful music and other ladies of the 60's

and for that i am forever thankful.. she made me realize that indeed i can sing.. and i've learned to express my emotions through singing.. now i'm 26 a frustrated famous soul singer, but in my heart i know that i am, soul and her music has helped through a lot of things..

to you ms. franklin, sure your voice has taken its toll, and some say that your attitude is really divalicious, it has been my dream to see you perform in one concert with your contemporaries (diana, dionne, tina, gladys,

Sam Cooke and Aretha were actually very good friends/love birds growing up. His respect for her was immense. She only sung one song of is, lol. How does that question her title as Queen of Soul?

People critique Aretha's later voice, but I don't see their claim. Aretha, has lost and rediscovered new voices so many times, but she never lost her soul. My main argument to those who think Aretha sounds bad in this, in which I don't even consider this a bad vocal period at all, how many singers could lose about an octave of their range, have their voicechange completely 2-3 different times, still have a fan base as large as this? It's simple, she is the Queen of soul!
