I WISH CHRISTMAS COULD BE EVERYDAY...AND EVERYONES NEEDS GET MET!....I BELIEVE.... :D

  • Wow...David was kind of cute way back then! :)

  • @InglebertHumperdink1 ,,,HE STILL IS... :D

  • I agree this song is the best with the two of them

  • beautiful...great song...

  • Sorry, but no way that Charice sang this better than Natalie Cole. Charice is a really good singer, but no friggin way that her version is better ;) Natalie's version is more emotional..she puts more meaning to it.

Best versions are from Natalie Cole and Michael Buble.

  • Lovely song. Pure sweet voice and wonderful sentiments.

  • When Natalie sings this, it sounds like that she actually means what the lyrics have to say.

Singing is way more than playing with your own voice, and there is a very obvious fine line. Just my two cents.

  • stop arguing....fantasia barrino will bite you....the best version is barracks obamma.

  • Natalie adores Charice just as Charice adores Natalie. They are both lovable.

  • How can anyone NOT love this beautiful song. Wow it blows my mind.

  • How old is this video? 1990's? David looks so young. Natalie carrying on her father's tradition - great vocalist.

  • How old is this video? 1990's? Is that David Foster @ the piano?

  • ummm... urg....... uh.... your black?...

  • yo tambien soy fan de charice , pero no deberiamos de comparar tanto a charice y a natalie porque cada una de ellas tiene su propio estilo , en ambos casos las interpretaciones son muy bellas

  • I love natalie cole, amy grant, kelly clarkson and charice when they performed this song....its a great hit..performed by great singrers...love it.

  • Natalie said that she likes singing Christmas songs because Christmas was the best part of her childhood when her Dad was living.

  • Love this version and the New Charice version too.. Natalie she's a legend...Charice coming soon..

  • Who originally sang this song? Because I've heard Kelly Clarkson, Charice, Natalie Cole, Micheal Bubbly...and others.

  • Charice version is also good.

  • --Happy Holidays Everyone--

This is one of my christmas song favorites (lyrics-wise)

  • Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. In this time that we live in with the recession and all, this song and all of its lyrics are so powerful. I love this version, but I do like all the different versions out there.

  • Merry Christmas Everyone.!!!!!! Peace and love to all and the beautiful animals that we share this world with....

  • This is fantastic.!!!! Kelly Clarksons verion is nice too. wonderful song.

  • This is beautiful|

  • hey check out my own version of this song of my channel :)

  • great song ...If you like it take a listen to the Jane Monheit version. best I've heard.

  • i absolutely adore the version of this song with Natalie Cole and David Foster,it's beautiful! gets me teary eyed around this time of the year.i also like Michael Buble's rendition of it.i think the correct lyrics are the ones Natalie sings.merry Christmas to everyone(especially to our men and women from every country fighting the war in Iraq and Afghanistan and a blessed new years to all.let's hope for peace!

  • LOVE THEM BOTH..............

  • Nathalie u r Supernatural! Out of this World! Love ya!<3

  • David Foster is a musical genius and Natalie Cole has a voice like silk! Bravo!!!

    Charice-gargoyle-hobbit-who?

  • I refuse to listen to anyone else sing this but Natalie and David........she is the only one who can bring me to tears on this each and every time I hear it. Simple and not overdone. Splendid.

  • @Renley1 I am not comparing and I can tell you that I am a huge Natalie Cole fan, huge!!!! I love her and her life story, but I must rank Kelly Clarksons version with this, sorry......

  • @Renley1 ...me too... o_o

  • @Renley1 I've listened to all the other editions and by far, this is the best. Natalie has such great diction. The level of emotion injected into the song by Natalie really pulls at your heart. You've got to be stone cold dead to not be touched by the words in this song.

  • Why that crazy Chinese or Japanese subtitle?

  • ohh is so cute David actually singing..so far only two like this version Nat and that little girl at oprah

  • what the heck David is hot !

  • This is one of my favorite Christmas songs. I have heard it by several artists and I enjoyed them all. The meaning is right on today and it will always will be. I'm off now to listen to another artist sing this great song.

  • TO ALL CHARICE'S FANS...WE ALL KNOW THAT CHARICE IS A GREAT ARTIST..BUT PLEASE DON'T COMPARE HER TO OTHER ARTISTS. IT'S NOT HEALTHY AND IT DOESN'T HELP CHARICE'S CAREER AT ALL. JUST ENJOY HER MUSIC AND APPRECIATE OTHER'S TALENT AS WELL. PEACE TO EVERYONE!

  • @78applemac - Charice fans have now moved to Kelly Clarkson videos...

  • I don't know but whenever Charice sings cover songs..fans can't help it but to compare Charice to originals. This is Charice's magic! She gives justice to every song she sings.

  • NATALIE COLE FIRST RECORDED THIS SONG IN 1991. ITS NOW BECOMING WHO HAS NOT SANG IT SINCE. NATALIE PLEASE TAKE BACK YOUR SONG- GIVE YOUR DADDY BACK HIS SONG AND CLAIM YOUR OWN.

  • Man, Natalie Cole in classic form. I would put this up there with Amy Grant's recording, the very first version I came across years back.

I hope people would listen closely to this song. It is written from a "grown up's" perspective. While Clay Aiken, Kelly Clarkson, and Charice might do good versions of this song, I am more moved by the quiet maturity of the older singers.

Those who argue about whose version is better is DEFINITELY missing the point of this song.

  • it dosent matter who sang it best they both did wounderfuly at singing and this song they both would not want to be faught over some times in life you just have to settel have you even listened to the lyrics wars would never start this may not be a war but your fighting and having a verbal war its christmas time its not time to be fghting its time to be celebrating with family and friends so please stop im asking you kindly to be supportive of both singers and how they sung there song

  • charice has a beautiful voice and make beautiful runs but she doesn't come close the delivering the depth and control as a lyricist of a Natalie Cole. Natalie's version tells such a believable story, every year a new crop of singers attempt to retell it. My only regret is how Natalie has allowed this song to be hijacked by so many different artist not giving her credit for recording the stirring phrasing every singer is still in search of.

  • Natalie has certainly done her father the Great Nat King Cole justice. I and my whole family loved his voice. I am so happy to say that she is just as talented as her beloved dad Nat. Merry Xmas to all!

  • One of the best singers...ever.

  • i love this version than the other....you can feel the emotion the meaning of the song....

kahit kababayan ko si charice..mas type ko parin ang version ni natalie cole...

ang importante dito sa song nato mafeel ng listeners ang meaning of the song...so for me natalie cole's version is the best..

  • this is beautiful!!!

  • There are always going to be multiply versions of any song, I chose this version because it is the one my local radio station plays, therefore the one I know. I'm sure it's different all around the US. Let's all just celebrate the holidays & be happy!

  • Beautiful! David foster has made a ton of money from this song.

  • This is exactly what I am saying. Charice fans are always into petty fights, comparing and making trash of other American Icon singers the likes of Whitney and now Natalie Cole. You people must STOP THIS BASHING. It just goes to show how ignorant and narrow-minded you are. We, Americans will not tolerate this cut-throat tactics from small people with small brains. YouTube are watching people like you.

  • @lovelysoul90

My, my lovelysoul... such strong words... We, Americans... small people... small brains. I think you just earned a lump of coal from Santa.

While I have to agree that so many fans tend to be overly emotional and passionate over their "idol" (Get a life, you guys!) But I would not lump this into a "We, Americans" issue.

  • Great original version by Sir David and Natalie Cole. David Foster and his wife at the time (1992) wrote this wonderful song. So many great singers have covered this since. Amy Grant in1994 had a hit with it. Michael Buble's also sold very well and Charice just released the lastest version a couple weeks ago. All beautiful to me!

  • When i think about this song during Christmas, I think about Natalie Cole's version. I think so many people like her version because the purity and innocence of her voice captures the essence and meaning of the song.

  • @bg012772 SO TRUE !!

  • my husband is a japanese ,so that the caption is in japanese, ok..

  • @reikavie Did your husband write the captions? No? I didn't think so.

  • this song always brings me to tears...for all the promise and all the disappointment in life...yet somoehwere....hope lives. peace to all and may all the love and joy of this season live on everyday in our hearts. luv 2 all!! merry christmas!

  • Amy Grant's version is WEAK LAME and Pathetic. She's the most overrated "singer" ever! Her voice is extremely weak and just plain BLAH. This is the BEST version.

  • @frsfca Why not just enjoy the music.

  • Whats with the chinese?

  • @dima9944 Its Japanese....

  • @yewfull You're wrong.

  • @dima9944 I didn't know that Japanese script was used to write other languages than Japanese.

  • @Gnickk Don't be stupid.

  • @dima9944 ur mom

  • @dima9944 Yeah right. Please get your info right.... I learn chinese and chinese is not like that....

  • @yewfull Chinese has many dialects.

  • @dima9944 HI! Chinese dialects are spoken. The written language is still the same, Han Chinese. Do a bit of research please...

  • @dima9944 dont be stubborn.. oh please.. im an asian and for a fact i know that's japanese.. hayzzzzzzz.. if ur wrong just admit it.. there's no harm in saying "oh it's japanese, my fault"

  • @luihne The same can be said for the others.

  • The best version of this song to date is Charice's. David F. made a very good arrangement for Charice which highlighted the softness and the power of Charice's voice.

  • my ears are so happy right now.....

  • Comment removed

  • her voice is simply beautiful. <3 i love her and her father :D

  • I'm a huge fan of Charice but to all the other fans who are arguing that Charice's version is the best... you guys should stop and realize that you're ruining the meaning of this song... this song is filled with meaningful messages but instead of applying that in our lives this Christmas season... we are arguing instead of what version is the best... Grown up Christmas List... please pay attention to the meaningful lyrics...

  • this is my favorite production of this wonderful song..... Happy Holidays & God bless you all !..... from adreambeach

  • nice hair david foster!!!

  • My favourite version!

  • She is simply awesome..

  • all versions are nice , the song is great, and the composer is musically genius !

  • WOW...natalie is such a great singer....people appreciate the music...stop comparing one great artist to another great artist....

  • This is a great song but only now emerging in public recognition and awareness as a Christmas classic. So it's natural for people to compare versions. This one is beautiful and very "Natalie". Charice's version is stunning; you can listen to it over and over and not get tired of it. .Natalie Cole and Charice just traveled and sang together on David Foster's Asian tour. Natalie is a friend and mentor to Charice. Two immense and complementary talents with very different life stories.

  • i got chills listening to this song

  • OMG Charice fans are invading videos of whoever sang this song. STOP COMPARING please !!! This is now a classical Christmas song and it's not all about this cheap showdown.

  • I love this original version, Amy Grant's and Charice's. Though Kelly has an excellent voice - her version is too divaish ( too many runs) for me. I think this is how David F. intended this song to be sung poignant, soulful and stirring. He made Charice's version have riffs and belting. But it was just enough as not to take away from the beauty of the song's melody. Just love it! And this is just my own honest 2 cents...

  • Natalie & Charice's redition of this song are the best!!! Check Charice's take on this song just recently at Rockefeller Ctr., New York...amazing !

  • Hands down THE best version of this song. I have this on an old Christmas cd of mine and it sounds different from this. On my cd the music is much fuller and the keyboard doesn't sound cheesy. Also there is no male vocals. It is my all time favorite Christmas song. Itunes may have the version that I have and it is HIGHLY recommended.

  • My God! Charice live performance tonight was a Enchanting and so beautiful and very touchy! Natalie Morales ( the host anchor of the show) said she is a Star!!! Who could sing like that? What a beautiful powerful and yet so sweet!! Voice!! Yes she is the Star!!! I can't disagree on that with all the performers who did a good performance , Charice's was great! And superb!!

I am so thankful that I know her and her family and able to meet David Foster in person. Thanks to all Chasters who went a

  • David sings?? Great song.

  • I love David Foster and his songs, I love Natalie Cole and I love Charice! I love this song... I first heard it when Charice sang it in Citadel, and now I have her mini xmas album from iTunes! I love this version and Charice's version - both produced by DF! :)

  • Simply beautiful! And I agree with brew50 - this is the best version of this song. Othes may be quite nice, but this one is the best!

  • She sang this song with Motab. Look it up its pretty much awesome like this one :)

  • Look at Charice to sing that song ! The best redition!!!!

  • I'm interested in hearing Charice's studio version out Dec 30th.

  • Natalie Cole & David Foster produced the best rendition of this song which is one of my fChristmas favorites...... on adreambeach

  • Nice hair Asian women ***lushfmlk.info***

  • Credit due for the writer of the LYRICS, Linda Thompson Jenner. Put to great music by David Foster. Sung beautifully by Cole, Grant, and Clarkson.

  • Yep, this is the original version (1990). Amy Grant recorded her version in 1992.

  • This song was recorded in 1990 for David Fosters album with Natalie Cole. It was recorded 1n 1992 by Amy Grant in which she altered some lyrics and added an additional verse penned by Amy. Therefore THIS is the original version which was not a huge hit at the time. Amys version is most recognized however, I prefer Natalies version. Much more touching to me and by the way, this is my FAVORITE Christmas song

  • @jcdevotee yeah, I like Amy's version also, but, it went on and on...over 5 minutes long...this original version flows beautifully...

  • We're singing this as a choir... but it sounds not as good as that, really...

  • simply beautiful.

  • My mom and i love you so much. we love your voice and we love you. thank you for sharing your talent.

  • My mom and i love you so much. we love your voice and we love you. thank you for sharing your talent.

  • Beautiful song...

  • Yes

  • Brew50, I agree with you 100%.She sings with such soul and meaning, this version simply outclasses all others.

  • her voice is clear..she sang calmly yet sweet!

  • Please listen to what this song tells you..

    Beautiful song....Always.... David Foster....

  • the key is too high.. but still beautiful.

  • @popups46okay the key isnt too high.... its the original version.

  • @EfdUpPrdctnz I think you're wrong.. the orginal version is Amy Grant's.. she is an alto. I like Natalie's too it's very beautiful. But I think there's no need for a higher key on this song, because the message is already powerful.

  • @brew50 I love her version of this also I love everything she has put out I love her father also! It's Ironic They are both before there time! I am only sixteen

  • This song simply sells itself !! (no matter who sings it)

  • Watch the Twilight Saga Online Now - ** moviescreenplay . info **Akon Rocks ** ** moviescreenplay . info **

  • David should have done more singing, he's good! Beautiful song. 2 thumb way up!

  • Amazing...absolutely amazing. Thanks for the post.

  • best version no doubt about it

  • beautiful!

    from japan

  • made me smile :) tnx for posting :)

  • david foster was very young i wonder what how is he in this video.

  • about 40; this was in 1990.

  • omg. i can just fall in love with this song. what a beautiful rendition!!!!!!! :)))))) super awesome. xoxo

  • I don't think it's braces. I think it's

    bad teeth.

    Natalie Cole rules

  • David Foster had braces LOL!

  • haha, wish that was true in those days!!!

  • I think i fallen in love with David Foster LOLOLOLOL. btw, GREAT SONG ! I love it.. i dont like Amy Grant's version.. Peace

  • This is definitely the best version of this song. I love it.

  • the first time i heard the song - i was completely mesmerized by it. this is hands-down, the best version of the song ever.

  • Amy Grant's version is good, but I love this because it is the original. Songs don't come much better than this!

  • One of my favorite Christmas songs! ^^

She has such an...elegant voice. It's on a completely different level than today's singer.

  • Amy Grant's version of this sing is the best ever.

  • then bitch take your fucking ass to Amy Grant's version and stop listing to this one.

  • @cokacolla this one is ten times better

  • I agree with the people that think this is the best version of this song. The studio album version by B.J. Thomas is also awfully good, however, and so is the rendition by Jane Monheit.

  • stunning......wow

  • This woman is in a class by herself along with Gladys Knight and M. McCoo from the 5th Dimmension. They put Amy Grant to shame.

  • I don't care what anyone says...I believe she was the first to do this song...and this is DEFINITELY THE BEST VERSION OF THE SONG. No one has even come close to the classy rendition of Ms. Cole and David Foster's version of this song. Not Amy Grant, not Kelly Clarkson...NO ONE.

  • @brew50 I totally agree

  • I strongly agree; this is the original.

  • @brew50 Check out version by Monica.

  • @bobingi I actually think Monica's version is BY FAR the best one. I love Natalie's version w/the London Symphony tho.

  • @Chasenip I agree...but actually, they are both fantastic!

  • @brew50 Natalie Cole was the FIRST to sing THIS version of the song, which was originally written by David Foster and his then-wife Linda Thompson (Brody Jenner's mother) for David's non-holiday album released in 1990. Amy Grant took the song and altered the lyrics and recorded it and released it in 1992 and THEN the song became a 'hit' and more widely known.

  • @brew50 So true.

  • @brew50 I agree!

  • I love this song. i LOVE NATALIE COLE..and I LOVE CHARICE too. Congratulations David F. Beautiful Song.

  • @brew50: You are correct. The 1990 David Foster/Natalie Cole version was the very first recorded version of the song (though I believe the version in the video clip is from a 1993 TV special). I also agree it is the best version of the song...way better than Kelly Clarkson's 2003 version...that's for sure! But check out Aretha Franklin's version. She put a new twist on it in her own style.

  • @brew50: Per my last comment, I looked back on some of my older comments to this video. Someone else told me a year or two ago that this video clip is from a 1989 holiday television special in Japan. It would then make sense that the pair first recorded the studio version of the song around the time of this TV special, which then went onto David Fosters's 1990 album "River of Love".

  • @brew50 I just found the new BEST version of this song sang by Charice... Check out her version Tree Lighting at Rockafellar Square 2010

  • @brew50 Are you really sure this is the best version of GUCL you ever heard & no

one has ever been close to this? Are you kidding? Did you ever check all the other

singers who have sung this song including Charice?I've been listening to other

singers who sang this song & I'll tell you straight right now that Charice's version ex-

ceeds all from those. Charice's version has emotions w/c really hit deeply into your heart !! Just listen to it & you can really feel the magic of it(fr. Charice).

  • @69janfred so agree!.. i keep repeating her version all over and over again.

  • @xxnastyjunivelxx Thanks for favoring my theory which is also very true. Charice's

version has captured deeply into our emotions. As what I've said it has magic, so

inspiring & so pleasant to hear!!!
