@blakesguitartuition check out "Blues Power." on YT. Albert used to tune down a step and a half! (c#) So he played those huge M3rd M3rd bends on the E string! If U want to play in regular tuning it's possible to make those bends on the B string. Also check out Andy Aledort's Albert King Signature Series.
This is a brilliant rendition! Forget the begrudgers out there and the fender and Gibson fanatics, you have a great sound, a great voice and it works. That's what Blues is. You come from the heart. Well done lad!
To take one from a Charlie Daniels song "He aint good lookin but he sure can play"..LOL..Awesome.Would have loved to hear Albert play it on a Les Paul.Awesome sound!!!Awesome job brother
I do NOT care about color or looks (umm), you can play. I like you playing blues, not shred or macho rock or what the helllever. That is you right? LOL
I like hearin' those Albert King licks on a Les Paul !
They sound juicier.
I agree with a previous poster, where are the CDs ?
Let's get this show on the road.
Your playing is mighty fine, and you do have a somewhat distinctive appearance (or is it the camera lens?) -- In the Blues world, that can be a real plus.
Back in '65 the only fuzz box available was the Maestro Fuzz Tone! That's what Keith's "Satifaction" riff sounds like to me. Also Jeff Beck's solo on the end of Y-Birds "I'm a Man" where he sustains an open note clean then you can hear him stomp on the button "Clik!" then all turns to glorious fuzz! I like it when ya take an old amp and turn it all the way up! Clapton's "Beano" album of '66 demonstrated to the world the possibilities of that. He got the idea from BB and Albert King! ;-)
Thank you MO for your kind comment! Yea; I saw Albert many times live in SF in 60s. He played fuzzy sometimes depending on what amp was available; he always turned it all the way up. In '66 when Born Under Bad Sign" album came out all us kids were crazy about Albert. In those days most of us interpreted the sound as 'fuzzy' (pre-metal). There were also many comnparisons with Albert and Eric Clapton. That was just before BB broke in SF.
No, thank you. You're what we used to call a "meat and taters" picker, no gimmicks, no frills, just pure feel and taste, and few own that. Your vocal style? You got mud in that blood, sir. Just wondering...where are the CDS????
It's truly nothing compared to that which the king gives to me. And that I can never put into words, it goes beyond that, so I hardly bother. Let's just say I love him like no other. :D
Thanks Flex! I saw Albert several times live in SF during 60s; incl twice in duet with BB! Al was in his prime then. '66 was the year of Stax "Born Under Bad Sign" LP along with Clapton Bluesbreakers. I was playing in a band in those days!;-)
You lucky son of a gun, lol. How cool is that! I remember first playing the "Beano" Album. I mean wow! that stinging guitar, blew me away, and I was listenin to it years after it came out. Can't imagine what that must have been like at the time. I've just started in a band, and all the above metnioned are true inspirations to me. No ones better than the rest, everyones unique, and that's that!
I'm especially into AK at the mo coz I accidentally deleted playlist, lol, so am rebuildin it. Thnks!
Thank for your kind comment. I love Albert too! I got to hear him live in San Francisco in the 60s many times. A powerful man! Fortissimo! I heard him in duet with BB King on 2 occasions. They were both in their primes in the 60s!
Great job man...

Dude that is the way to bend the shit out of the guitar, makes the note you really want to hear come out, guitar becomes a voice and ting!

@bryandunnblues: You feel spoiled? What does that even mean? Steve Cropper played on the original with Albert. SRV had nothing to do with this song.

Hello Blue, I noticed on your page that you like Jimmy Reed, so I wonder if you could do your own version of Roll and Rhumba and post it for us.
Also, while listening to your Crosscut Saw, I thought I felt a little Louisiana inflection, so I wonder where you are from?
thanks
