I have always wondered why Anita didn't get the attention, she was so much better that any of her family. About the only time you really got to hear her beautiful voice was as a backup singer. I have never heard her sing this song, thank you for posting it. She even had the looks of the family why wasn't she as famous as June Carter?

I discovered Anita in her live duet with Hank Williams, "I can't help it." I was immediately floored by her voice. Who Is This? I thought, then I noticed the family resemblance. It sent chills up my spine. What an angel's voice, truly supernatural. God bless her.

Truly the best voice i ever heard, she died too young, all the carter sisters did. Its a great tragedy, very few people in Australia have heard the truly breathtaking music of the carters, it's a great shame. Thank god for youtube. What a tremendous talent she was.

On my mom, Anita's grave I had "On Tour With The Angels" inscribed. And she is there with them all..grandma, aunt Helen and aunt June. They were the best of friends. They worked together, vacationed together and gave themselves to the world for their entire lives. And in my heart, they are just on the biggest and best tour of all. Mom was very content singing with her family. She had no interest in being a star. I think that she felt a responsibility to her family. That was just the way she was.

I am sorry for her having passed and I feel for your loss, as my mother has also passed along with my father. 2 years ago today, which is this year's mother's day. Anita has a beautiful voice...the purest of anyone. I have a collection of her songs, "Appalachian Angel" and they are all so good. I think this collection was made in Germany. It is very special as it has so many songs I had never heard.

Thanks for posting this, beautiful and haunting. I remember hearing her on occasion in the '60's and '70's, but not frequently. I always wondered why she didn't get more fame and radio play. She recorded a good number of songs, didn't she? Did she have bad management? Do you think being a Carter sister pigeon-holed her adversely?

Anita Carter had a voice which, in my humble opinion, rivaled both Patsy Cline's and Judy Collins'. @mczimmerman1 Interesting comment. I'm not so sure that Anita's voice would have worked on those songs, and I mean that in only a complimentary way. Anita had neither the growl of Patsy Cline nor the street-soul of Judy Collins.

Her voice was as crystal-clear as a Clinch Mountain stream and just a pure. There were never any theatrics or pretense in her performance...her Carter breeding and training gave us only what was real and beautiful.
