@NanoEmpyrean Yup - Pacheo set up his boss Dr Taub by waiting until he went on vacation for a week then let the Monkeys live in filth for a week before staging a series of PR photos showing the monkeys being neglected (by his own actions). He than used the photos to promote himself to celebrity status - meanwhile the witch hunt around Taub lasted a decade and set research into Cerbral Palsy treament back 10 years. He should be jailed.

When I was about 32 a doctor found out I was a veggie and he "jokingly" acted like you. He died a month later. A doctor, talking against vegetariansim. Hmmmh. It may well have been a coincidence or not. I didn't wish him death. However, you are insulated from many things---biggest of which is yr singular hate for those who disrupt your convenience. I do not get the logic of a strong animal "rights" (as distinguished from an animal welfare) position and a strong pro-choice position--there may be historical or psychological "reasons" but not philosophical or logical ones.

If the human race lasts another 500 years, maybe we will have abolished war--how are are we from abstaining from animal cruelty?

The research done in that lab has helped stroke survivors recover and has also given us (human being) a tremendous amount of knowledge on the subject of neuroplasticity. PETA ended up losing in court and the scientist eventually got the mokeys back anyways. Alex Pacheco is a hippie who destroyed a good scientists name.

We do not need to test on animals to find cures. Scientists can use other methods that are MORE EFFECTIVE. Without testing on animals, we would actually save more human lives as well. There are many drugs on the market that harm and kill humans, that are there because they were tested on animals. We do not have the same system as a guinea pig and so torturing and testing drugs on them WILL NOT BRING US CLOSER TO A CURE.

Check your sources. Taub was convicted of 6 counts of animal cruelty. He appealed but was still charged with one count. The monkeys were not returned to Taub, they were sent to the Delta Regional Primate Research Center, not the Institute for Behavrial Research (where Taub worked).
