  • YOU FUCKING IDIOTS... you can't charge someone for cash... what the fuck... this is bullshit!!!!!!

  • How is this ok! this is bullshit straight bullshit the things our police get away with is redicilous

  • makes me sick..... the "LOVE" of money is the root of all evil ...

  • Fire all the police, and hire new ones after that happens a few times maybe they wont fuck with our civil liberties any more.

  • This is crazy, no charge still take your money. Dont the FBI should investigates this problem.

  • Yep, that's what you get when Americans use their Consitution, the most elocquently and beautifuly written piece of human writing, as toilet paper for a couple of decades.

The US is a Constitutional Republic. The Constitution is the law of the land. Read the fourth. Read what the constitution says about laws that are not contitutional. Problem solved.

  • This is SO frakn wrong... I used to have a respect for police but not any more.... they abuse every chance they get....

  • Debate? The police are criminals.

  • Now, that's some award-winning investigative journalism! No big deal, just about 15 Emmys in his office (watch at 3:55)

  • I know a man that's a thief, he got five kids who gotta eat and don't it don't mean a damn to....

  • Its not unreasonable or illegal for someone to have a bunch of cash on them. Go to small towns that are mostly farm land and I guarantee you that the farmers out there have WAY more cash most would think. They dont trust banks.

  • @666fea Think it says D.I.C.E. dude.

  • After you see this video there should be NO DOUBT that scores of cops have now become the CRIMINALS and all because of the so-called WAR ON DRUGS which is really a war on the populace. These greedy HILLBILLY fuzz are a menace.

  • Well, I don't like this law, but I mean, c'mon, they used the guy in a suit with $200,000 in hidden cash as their lead example? Everyone with any sense knows that guy has illegitimate cash.

  • @iwpoe Proven how? I agree you should seize money when there are drugs found. No drugs, no seizing money. My aunt and uncle frequently carry thousands of dollars along the east coast because they do business and travel a lot and do not always have access to their bank. This is a ridiculous law.

  • @Ineedmorelives Neither the law nor sense works on "proof" as you mean it. What is required is probable cause, that is 'a reasonable belief that a person has committed' a crime. This is not the same as a 'proven' belief. I see why they think they have probable cause. Hiding hundreds of thousands of dollars in the back of a semi headed west is incredibly suspicious. Your aunt and uncle, innocent as they may be, are as reckless as a fellow who wears a ski mask in the summer to do his errands.

  • The entire War on Drugs is a farce, created solely to make money.

  • it's time for a revolution! right after I finish this hot dog.

  • Very crooked. Why should they want the drugs?? Money is much better. The cops can`t sell the drugs so let the crooks do that.

  • A BLACK MAN WITH $500 HM SOMETHING DOESN'T ADD UP

  • Too bad CNN, MSNBC and FOX news aren't interested in doing real reporting.

FACT: you are more likely to be killed by a cop than a terrorist.

  • If i had a box of donuts I wouldn't be surprised if they confiscated it.

  • This reporter sais "Money" like no other.

  • All you have to do is ask if they have a warrant to search your vehicle.

  • @oceansurfari if they have probable cause then no dice for us

  • this is MOB mentality!!! What are we coming to when we endorse this kind of crap??? This has nothing to do with serve and protect its about Stealing and harrasment!!

  • Lol Karen is a drug dealer for sure, but no reason for this bs...

  • hope you all realize, this is called nazism... excuses to nothing more then steal from the citizen. literally, at the point of a gun. that's called being a nazi. literally.

  • Drug war fails.

  • Why do all of the drivers allow the search? 4th amendment!

  • Beyond ridiculous

  • "...they're competing to do their jobs."

SO FUCKING RETARDED. FUCK YOUR CORRUPTION.

  • cops acting like gang members? you dont say.

  • Another reason to shoot criminals with badges first and leave them to rot.

  • Google "Policing for Profit" and you will find the report on Federal and State governments.Tennessee's Asset Forfeiture Report, conducted by the Institute for Justice, was very negative.

  • "And, while it cannot be used to supplement salaries, local drug enforcement nonetheless keeps 100 percent of property forfeited, and there is no requirement to collect or report data on the use of forfeiture or its proceeds in Tennessee. "

  • "Tennessee has broad civil forfeiture laws that fail to protect the rights of property owners. There, the government must establish by only a preponderance of the evidence that property is related to a crime and subject to forfeiture. Tennessee also effectively presumes owners are guilty, as the property owner bears the burden of proof for innocent owner claims. "

  • cops are so FUCKING broken as people... fucking crooks and liars..... it's us vs. them they are not here for our good....

  • That guy looks like he's in the drug business tbh

  • I did some research on this. If no charges are filed the money goes back to the owner. The owner only need to take "legal action"(to prove the money had nothing to do with a crime) if there ARE charges filed. Go figure the newscast left out some details.

  • @Mozart1220 That means the people who never had charges filed on them have to pay for a lawyer with whatever money they have after police take everything in their car. They did mention this actually, start at 2:20.

  • @Mozart1220 They specifically state that if you higher an attorney and take the PD to court you MIGHT get it back. You most definitely did not watch the video to completion, as they specifically state you can take "legal action" to get it back, in the video. On another note, how can you accept that Police are stealing money from people, and forcing you to file a lawsuit to get it returned?

  • @FattyFactCheck I watched the vid, but also looked up things beyond it. If you are charged you must HIRE an attorney to get the money, otherwise if no formal charges are filed, you the the money back anyway. Do some research. Oh, and learn how to spell.

  • @Mozart1220 I was in a rush, but thanks for the wonderful example of logical fallacy in debate. Asset forfeiture is by-nature a civil dispute between you and and the government. If it was criminal forfeiture you would need a criminal attorney and you would be charged with a crime. In the case of civil, its a good idea to at least ask for legal advice, if not a lawyer. You are incorrect that they simply give it back, as you have to win a civil forfeiture case to get your belongings back.

  • @FattyFactCheck Do some research, and while you are at it, ask WHY these people were carrying so much cash in that manner. The answer may surprise you.

  • @Mozart1220 In addition, civil forfeiture can be applied to more than just money. They can take cars and even homes under civil forfeiture. In TN, any property is viable to be forfeited to the government as they only need probable cause/preponderance of evidence to seize civilly. While they have to prove beyond a reasonable doubt in criminal forfeiture. Large amounts of cash is consider probable cause for drugs, so as you can see they can take any "large" amount of cash.

  • @FattyFactCheck This has been federal law since the Reagan administration. Get over it. If you don't like it, don't break the law. Pretty simple. Oh, and do some research beyond the local yokel newscast.

  • @Mozart1220 That is an ignorant statement. You obviously have never been hassled over carrying cash. I had a security person at Ok City airport hassle me over $300. Your an useful idiot whom has bought in to this police state bullshit.

  • @sct1886 No, I choose to not carry tens of thousands of dollars in cash around. In fact, I have never had that much money TO carry around, but if I did, I would leave it in a bank and have it transferred electronicaly like a normal law abiding citizen would. I have carried more than $300 and had no trouble at all. I noticed the namecalliing, which is a sure fire way to see that you have run out of valid arguments.

  • It doesn't fucking matter why they were carrying cash above $100. I have seen people buy cars, with cash, at auctions in amounts exceeding $15,000. Are they criminals, under a Mozart1220 style government? In America, the constitution provides everyone the inalienable right of innocence until proven guilty. BTW, I work for a law firm that provides services to TN residents and your point of "they just get it back"is completely wrong. There are civil forfeiture cases going on right now in TN

  • @Mozart1220 By-nature of being a civil suit, they have broken no criminal law. You are so inclined to trust your government, that you cannot see how these actions are completely unethical. Racism was legal as well, but we certainly have evolved enough to see how being legal doesn't make it morally correct. The drug war is a colossal failure and this is just another sign that prohibition hurts more than it helps.

  • @FattyFactCheck Do some research.

  • kinda reminds me of super troopers

  • Oink oink!!!

  • put this in your brain. " I DONT CONSENT TO SEARCHES"

  • FUCK THE POLICE

  • Holy shit USA. Your country is falling lower and lower every day. Had this happend anywhere else in a western country there would be serious repercussions.

In the US it gets on the news and then nothing happens because it's more important to follow if gay marriage should be allowed or not.

National meltdown is inevitable at this point in time and it will affect the enitre world.

  • Lesson here kids: never, ever, ever, EVER consent to a search for any reason whatsoever, even if you have "nothing to hide". Make them get the fucking warrant if they think they can.

  • Unacceptable.

  • why did he shrink wrap 200 grand? and have it in the back in trailer? ...

  • Oh yeah Kim Helper is helping alright, she's helping to keep her pockets lined. Nice.

  • what the hell is wrong with this reporters accent?

  • If it was drug money...wouldn't the drug warlords realize what is going on and go out there and "take care of the problem" themselves?..complete bullshit, no cop will ever be searching my car even though I wouldnt have anything illegal in it..

  • fucking cops, the biggest gang out there

  • @kindle139 yep and they got something no gang has eternal protection :P by something called LAW! lol

  • the money doesn't belong to them. all the drug money should be given to charity not the fucking corrupted police force.

  • excuse me officer, i do not submit to any searches.

  • what the fuck is with the reporters voice jeez

  • @GreaterbeingFilms i was thinking the same thing lol

  • Wow, good work by a local station! Great expose!

  • Oh yeah, guys. This is so unfair to the law-abiding citizens who have 200 THOUSAND DOLLARS WRAPPED IN PLASTIC in their car... c'mon. It's fucking drug money. If it's not, show where you got the money, show your IRS statements - prove the money is legit - and you get it back! It's that simple.

  • @JQisAwesome So I assume you're okay with seizing money from alcohol companies as well? Alcohol causes far more deaths than all illegal drugs combined, yet most people seem to think its use is a matter of personal choice... but if someone decides to use any other drug recreationally, they deserve to go to jail. Also, watch the whole video, they showed many people with legit money get it seized and have trouble retrieving it, as well as officers letting actual dealers walk if they hand over cash

Also, watch the whole video, they showed many people with legit money get it seized and have trouble retrieving it, as well as officers letting actual dealers walk if they pay.

  • @compactdisk2 Your response implies you're more upset with drug laws than civil seizure laws. So let's simply the debate and pretend the 200k wrapped in cellophane was from a hitman - a professional assassin. Or any unlawful business, prostitution, whatever. The point is, regular people do not drive down interstates with 200k wrapped up in plastic. Unless they're on their way to the bank or coming from the bank. Ever heard of a check? There is no reason an ordinary person should have that cash!

  • 200k in cash wrapped in cellophane is still a bit "off" but the fucking pigs shouldn't be keeping it.

  • Fuckin thieves. Their only goal is profit.

  • Pfft! Corruption? In the civilized west? UNPOSSIBLE

  • Just more proof that the government does not want to stop drugs... they just want to be the ones profiting from them!

  • Stay the fuck out of redneck tennesee... gotcha.

  • can this guy speak?

  • im not even from the US but this problem shouldnt even exist. corruption everywhere...

  • "Can I search your trailer?"

"Nope, you sure can't. Can I go now?"

  • Haha is it just me or does the narrator sound retarded?

  • @Krausea13 To me, this is how all Americans sound.

  • this is a typical republican scheme. don't tax the rich for revenue so they steal from the middle class instead. this is also why the DEA lets drugs into the country, so they can seize the drug money that drug dealers make. its the only way to get money from the trailer trash rednecks since they dont pay taxes.

  • where the hell is serpico when we really need him?

  • WTF does this guy have with his voice?

  • "I don't consent to searches."

  • @btullis99 They will just bring drug dogs, and then the officers will give the dog a command to bark as if it had found drugs, even if it had not. Then they will search your car anyway. You cannot win against these organized criminal gangsters. They will get your money one way or another.

  • America... you are sooooooooo fucked up.

  • biggest gang in america: the police.

  • Across Tennessee

  • "to use the money to put back to fight da drugs" derpa derp derp... dem evil drugs. this is some third world shit

  • BOOOO!

  • hahah! KEEP TRYIN'! AIN'T STOPPIN' THE MOVEMENT! FTP! ^_^

  • He sounds like kermit the frog.

  • Super Troopers!

  • Man, the internet does nothing but make me think FTP

  • yes, this is incredibly shifty, but come on- look at that karen petrosyan guy. he is clearly a character straight out of the wire.

  • @enyart91 you're trying to justify abuse of power because some guy "looks shifty"...

  • power corrupts

  • this is interesting and all, but the newscasters voice could not be more annoying

  • I wonder if they take major credit cards?

  • i'm gonna drive with a huge pack of monopoly money

  • The police are robbing people. We need to quit pretending its something else and giving it funny names. Its robbery. ARMED robbery.

  • Comment removed

  • fuck the police.

  • The shishosheeesho taskshhh forceshhhhh shhh apprehended the shushhhhpect and shhhh drug monieshhhhh shwishoshahsho shhwish

  • this reminds me of super troopers.

  • Well now the cartels know that they can just pay off Tennessee police, instead of losing their drugs.

  • 1:19

Within literally a fraction of a second I knew I hated that woman. Which is rare, that usually doesn't happen to me.

Just something about her though, goddamn.

  • Nice to see some excellent local reporting, any real reporting for that matter.

  • So basically they use the money to fund their search for more money in cars? You think they'd at least give it to charity or something, but it's still bullshit.

  • I hate the reporters accents........

  • On a lighter note, what the fuck is up with that reporter's accent?

  • The funny thing about these cops that ARE caught ONLY LOOKING FOR FUCKING MONEY BY BREAKING OUR CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS....is that they won't even get probation.

  • also, these people should say no to giving them access to a search, hell they shouldnt even open their door if the officer has no reason to be pulling them over.

  • wait, so why are people driving around with tons of wads of cash wrapped up like drug money? :l

  • Search a armored truck. They have loads of money. I wonder if that is drug money

  • @DietLemonlime7up And the occupants are armed so they must be criminals.

  • @R4t10n4L Exactly.

  • To all kids, this is why you say no to let a officer search your vehicle.

  • The individual police are obviously getting a cut to. Why would they be having a turf war if they were not.

  • Of course cutting off the money hits them in the pocket book, BUT SO DOES STOPPING THE DRUGS! You're supposed to stop the drugs from hitting circulation, not just stopping the money used to pay for it! Okay, you stopped the dealer from a few pay days, but now you've got a fresh supply of whatever substance they just purchased within your community. How retarded are these cops? That's the worst excuse I've ever heard.

  • Different Agencies fighting over a possible Car load of money like Criminal Vultures . I'd love to see them take my money ...

  • @franz909 I would too, then you couldn't afford a computer.

  • Dr. Robert Murphy

  • I wonder if the cops could confiscate Gold, British Pounds, Euros, etc? Or are they just interested in US Dollars?

  • absolutely disgusting, we live in a police state, plain and simple, and most people arent even freaking aware of it

  • Great story by channel 5. Keep the pressure on and don't let up. This crap is more common they anyone realizes. America the free? What a joke. Americans are not even free to take their savings from one state to another without the possibility of it being confiscated by the very public servants who have sworn to protect it. You Americans have given up the rights that your forefathers have spilt their blood to protect. And this is how you honor them? For God's sake.

  • The "War on Drugs" is joke. What would happen if we were to win the "War on Drugs"? These guys would be out of work. They don't want to "War on Drugs" to end.

  • time to feed the hogs

  • These criminals should be gunned down when they try to steal people's money.

The "War on Drugs" is just a way to victimize citizens and increase the police state.

NEVER agree to the cops searching your vehicle. In fact, don't even talk to the pigs.

  • @kurtaDHS73 I ask you, WHY would anyone LEGIT wrap large amounts of cash in duct tape and transport it in the back of a semi? Until THAT question is answeredintelligently, give the cops a break. Their job is hard enough.

  • @Mozart1220 Because having loose bills blow around in the back of a flatbed truck tends to be messy. Seriously--have you ever even SEEN a cash transaction in the shipping business? Contractors sometimes walk off-site with $10-20K in a lunch sack, totally legit transaction. Grow up and stop treating criminal privateers as victims.

  • @Mozart1220 Is the law enforcement function 'LEGIT'?

The entire "War on Drugs" is unconstitutional. Remember "prohibition"? The govt. was only able to ban alcohol AFTER the passage of the 18th Amendment. Pop quiz: Which Amendment grants the power to regulate drugs?HInt: There is none. Now let's look at the Fourth Amendment - unreasonable search and seizure. Got a warrant? Probable cause? Sorry, no search, no seizure, no highway robbery!

Give the cops a break? They should be in JAIL!

  • @kurtaDHS73 Yes it is, but the cops are just doing their jobs. And I know all about prohibition. But that doesn't alter the fact that legit people do not carry large amounts of cash wrapped in duct tape in the backs of trucks. Why would they?

  • @Mozart1220 Is it suspicious, yes, because we're not aware of any people who do that. But, it's NOT ILLEGAL. And that's the part you're not getting. If the state wants to make it a crime to have large amounts of money stored in such fashions, they should put it to a vote and make it a law. Until then, they're treating people who haven't committed a crime, that they're aware of, like criminals. If we start letting the police stop and search everyone they wish, then we've forfeited our rights.

  • @BiggestOfDaddies If you decided to take midnight strolls carrying tools through a neighborhood that has had recent burgleries, I guess you would blame the cops for taking you iin for querstioning. No one said it's ILLEGAL to carry cash in this way, but no LEGIT person would do so for any reason. THINK ABOUT IT. If the cops found that cash and let the people go, and then it turned out to be a major drug dealer, you'd blame the cops for NOT doing their job. Get past this.

  • @Mozart1220 "Questioning" suspicious behavior is not the same as taking someone into custody and confiscating their property *just because*. THINK ABOUT IT. Yes, someone in that scenario should be stopped and questioned due to reasonable (key word here) suspicion, but if their story checks out they should be allowed on their marry way. Is that happening in this story?

  • @Mozart1220 Besides that, you said "no LEGIT person would [carry cash] in this way." You want to bet? In the shipping industry large cash transactions are made on a fairly regular basis. You might want to actually know what you're talking about before going on these little rants. You really don't have a leg to stand on here.

  • @BiggestOfDaddies These guys were hardly in the "shipping industry", but you go on living in your little world.

  • @Mozart1220 You're making a presumptuous statement because you are of the *opinion* that they're already guilty. But even if you're right and these people are being shady, not every trucker traveling with cash is doing something illegal and they method's they're using are not effective in determining that. I for one am not willing to fork over my rights as an American, nor anyone else's, so that you can feel self righteous. "Those willing to sacrifice freedom for safety, deserve neither" - BF

  • @BiggestOfDaddies I am makiing a logical statement because it looks pretty suspicious when you carry large amoounts of cash in this manner. And we have all read the Ben Franklin quote. It does not appply here. As for being "self rightious", nice try but you don't know the meaning of that phrase either. If you don't want to be treated like a criminal, don't act like one. Very simple.

  • @Mozart1220 So what. I doubt it. Yes it does. Yes I do. and Bullshit!. Do you know how easily cops can claim "suspicious behavior." The constitution is supposed to protect against unlawful search and seizure. That means without a warrant or probable cause. A truck driving down the road does not qualify as probable cause. They're stopping people with no good reason, all for money. If they can do it to them, they can do it to any of us and you're a moron for supporting it.

  • @BiggestOfDaddies Iam making the Presumption" that legit people have no need to carry cash in tbis manner, especially in the age of instant electronic transactions. I also do not approve of Reagan's "drug war" that allows police to keep cash in this manner, but the criminals have more money, and the government has cut funding to law enforcement across the country. PLease stop perverting Frankiln's words, we have all heard them too many times from people like you.

  • @Mozart1220 Presumptions are assumptions and we all know what those make you. The reason why people like me continue to use the Franklin quote is because people like you, despite that you claim to know it, refuse to take it into account or take it seriously. You continue to advocate that society should sacrifice our freedoms so that your presumptions against what you think constitutes criminal behavior can be enforced. I don't want that, nor does any American who knows what it means to be free.

  • @BiggestOfDaddies First off, "presumption" is a pretty stupid word for realizing that no one legit would carry money like this for any reason. Only people trying to move cash without anyone knowing would do this. And why not just let the bank transfer the funds, and you can "cash them" at your new location? Safer that way, but then there would be a record of the transaction. Now tell us why they wouldn't want a record.

  • @Mozart1220 Where I spend my money is no business of the bank or government. That doesn't mean I'm a criminal simply because I ALWAYS carry cash instead of a bank card. Do you think old people who refuse to deposit money into bank accounts are also criminals? Your 'logic' is laughable at best.

  • @TheFreedom2resist If you carry tons of money wrapped up in duct tape in the back of a truck, instead of having it transferred by the bank like a law abiding citizen would, then you can expect to be treated with suspicion. Sorry, that's life in the aluminum siding buisiness. If you are so PARANOID that you have to carry large amounts of cash in a truck, there is probably a reason and you deserve to be arrested.

  • @Mozart1220 Guilty until proven innocent? Thank god the only thing you're in charge of is your own opinion! Not hard to tell you come from a 'law enforcement' family... utterly brainwashed.

  • @TheFreedom2resist It's easy to see I know about how law enforcement works, not because police are corrupt, but because I was taught that if you act suspicious, you are going to be suspected. No brainwashing, just common sense. If you don't want to be suspected as a criminal, don't carry large amounts of cash in a manner suggesting you are doing something illegal. Very simple. Law abiding citizens do not NEED to transport large amounts of cash like this. Only those trying to hide something do

  • @Mozart1220 Do you understand what behavior modification is or how it affects the mind? "I was taught that if you act suspicious, you are going to be suspected." You are changing your actions due to indoctrination. That is brainwashing. Daft, argumentative, opinionated, and paranoid just like a cop. Logic is validated when the facts produce the same outcome every time. You're basically saying everyone who carries a large sum of cash is a criminal & should be treated like one. Utter BS.

  • @TheFreedom2resist I guess by your "logic" any time a parent tells a child how to act or what to do it's "brainwashing". IT'S COMMON SENSE. If you don't want to be lookd at as a criminal, don't act like one. I'm saying it's pretty suspicious to carry cash wrapped in tape in the back of a truck. People with no reason to fear the law do not do that sort of thing. Again, perfectly logical unless you are paranoid or have some reason to not like cops. Been busted a few times have we?

  • @Mozart1220 OH MY GOD! You caught me! I'm typing this from prison RIGHT NOW!

I've never been 'busted' in my life, and I'm done feeding this troll. Common sense is a parent teaching their child to look both ways before crossing the street. Teaching a kid that someone is a criminal because they 'act suspicious' (aka they don't behave the same way as you or how you 'should' behave) is brainwashing. You can't seem to grasp the simplest of concepts thanks to your indoctrination!

  • @TheFreedom2resist I never said a person IS a criminal if they act suspicious, but only that they should expect to be TREATED that way if they act in such a manner. If a kid dresses and talks like a gangster, it's fair to assume he might be one, and to encourage your children to avoid him right? So if a person carries large amounts of cash in bundles in a truck it's fair to assume that that is not the way people within the law usually operate. I don't expect you to understand. It's logical.

  • @Mozart1220 innocent until proven guilty?

  • @987654321bang Always. But if you act guilty, we are going to check you out. Better to catch a murderer on his way to the crime scene than on his way out, yes? You do realize that 90% of the "terrorist" plots stopped in this country are the result of normal routine police work? They just put up "photocop" cameras in my city. People are freaking out about "big brother" and all that nonense. You know what? DON'T SPEED. Problem solved. Don't act like a criminal, no worries about cops.

  • @Mozart1220 are you kidding? this is the problem with people these days. you give up your rights and freedoms for a false sense of security.

the "if you have nothing to hide" argument is BS. no one has the right to search you or your property or home without cause, we were supposed to be a nation founded on freedom. unfortunately all we have is fear and paranoia

  • @bfogarty27 What right or freedom has been lodt? And carrying large amounts of cash wrapped in tape in the back of a truck is suspicious in many ways. Jeez man, the civil war is over, the teabaggers are being exposed for the lunatics they are, and there IS law in this country. Get over yourself and grow up. The only paranoia is coming from "The government is out to get us" people like you.

  • @Mozart1220 You're a police cocksucker and you deserve to lose every single freedom you have.

  • @s0beit Many of my family are in law enforcement, yes. One was shot and almost died breaking up a home invasion. If you don't like the situation pertaining to the "drug war", thank Ronald Reagan. But if you go around acting like a criminal expect to be treated as such.

  • @Mozart1220 You're equating acting like a criminal to having money. This is a pretty gigantic glaring hole in your logic. I don't like any drugs being illegal, thank you very much, because it leads to more and more situations where, just like in the video you've seen, people get robbed. This time it was money, but I won't act like we haven't been robbed before in the area of societal freedom to a much larger extent. This is the sum of an eventuality.

  • @kurtaDHS73 damn skippy.
