I watched your speed control for sticks and that was absolutely sick, wonderful instruction,I really enjoy your videos thank you for posting,I hope to be a fraction of where you are soon!
You're quite welcome! I really enjoy listening to good jazz drumming - the cushion of sound the ride cymbal provides is beautiful!
Quick question: when you play songs with a band, do you tune the toms to match particular keys that songs are written in? If not, how do you blend the tom voices with the band?
Amazing, how long have you been playing? I've been playing for 4 years but I'm still mediocre. Thinking about quitting cause I know the world doesn't another mediocre drummer.
@rea1high Just keep at it and practice every chance you get and how ever long you have. Don't start off thinking that you'll be able to play everything you want because that will make it less enjoyable not being able to play something. Just start off slow with things and gradually pick up speed. How long have you been playing?
@theyhavepeabrains i'm still having fun, so not qutting yet. i've had my kit for nearly a year. i spend most of my time either playing from "stick control for the snare drummer" with both hands, and feet, rock school books and just pounding away to other music. i'm really struggling to improve my hi hat coordination, but as you say, it takes time
@rea1high Good, that's always the thing just have fun. Sure you will get frustrated at something but trying slowing it down getting every note to feel right. I know, I've been working on hi-hat coordination as well, its hard. At the moment I can just keep a steady slow tempo. I try to add in random bass patterns to see if it fits and see if I can keep the tempo while I play it. I've been practicing for four years as you know and I know how painful the first years are.
What ride are you using? i use a 22inch stagg and love it but yours sound really good.
