We shouldn't be there and it is none of our buisness is exactly what they said when hitler was rolling accross europ. Quit whining grow some balls and do the right thing.
that said, a great video. regular canadians speaking candidly. it it true we can't win, and in fact we're aren't winning. every year the number of afghans tolerating our troop presence is less and less because afghans are so alarmed by thing like village bombings and checkpoint shootings. this is not a humanitarian mission. only 10% of the total budget is for things like food and shelter. this is really just another american started one. we create our own enemies in afghanistan
people who support the war in afghanistan are essentially supporting the deaths of innocent people. from october to december 2001, almost 3000 innocent people lost their lives from US bombing. in every other year thousands were killed. forward to 2007: 2000 civilians lost their lives in afghanistan, half of whom were killed by NATO forces. in the first half of 2007, NATO killed more innocent people than insurgents according to "USA Today". and so far this year, civilian deaths are up 60%.
9/11 wasn't the full reason Canada went into Afghanistan. We told the states that not only we won't go into Iraq, but almost put in laymen terms said we condemned them for going. If we (as a nation), then the states would be force to build bases of their own to look after their national security (just how they help with ours). Terrorist know that we have a hard time looking after our own borders. We do have to show not only the states, but the world that we can defend ourselves when needed.
I think this is a bunch of shit....the troops think its a good idea being there and that is the truth...Canada has accomplished a lot in afghanistan since the beginning of the war...but since the raid on the prison and the freeing of the taliban prisoners Canadian Foreces will be having another "hot" summer...but show some respect for the soldiers.
if you dont agree with the war than be mad at the politicians NOT the troops. if you dont support the troops you should get the fuck outa the country you useless bastards.
This is the most biased piece of trash I have ever seen in my life. 1/5. Please, anyone watching this, don't take this as fact. Do some research on Afghanistan since 2001 and see the incredible difference.
*We have a huge surplus of killing machines (military and equipment to keep employed...
*We have to create another enemy (terrorists) and supply them with weapons (biological gas, WMD, etc)
*Good reason to justify where the "TAX Payers" trillions of dollars goes (so we think)
*Meanwhile some elite "crooks" and their "puppet" bastards is laughing there "ass" off to the "bank" to cash in on the "blood-stained" wealth...(life is good)
i don't believe in war nor a revolution. I think the next logical step would be evolution through education and tolerance. Why not educate ourselves, the ones around us as well as government officals and agencies a little more on the human condition in order to help each other without blowing each other up. War is not the answer, it never has been and never will.
If we pull out now what will hapen to the people who live there? I cant help but wonder what kind of life my daughter would have had if she was borne there instead of here in Canada? There r people out there who need our help and i think we should stay till the jobs done. We need to commit more resourses to the war and destroy every last taliban.
funny thing is most people will vote Liberal to bring our troops home when they sent them in the first place. The argument I see over and over in this video is its none of our business. Well Hitler wasn't bothering us. We should have just let him kill all of those Jewish people because it wasn't any of our business ovbiously. *sarcasm*
you cant even spell the names of the countries you hate.. prove your own ignorance some more, why dont you pick up a rifle and prove you cant fight too
thanks alot for this video, defiantly shows your point of view as for me (brit) we dont hear much about ur involvement in this conflict, however controversial it is.
Comparing the current war in Afghanistan to the ones the Soviets fought, it can't be compared and its stupid thing to compare the two. There are many differences between the two.
No one "needs" war but the oppressed need hope and if war helps the oppressed than it is just. Anti or not the vast majority of the interviewed shared the belief that they could help the Afghan people and I would bet the vast majority of Afghanis are willing to accept it.
I have personally heard their thanks and they are gracious.
support the troops to the troops means... DONT PUT THEM SOMEWHERE THAT UR NOT SURE U WANT THEM... either support the troops in there mission or DONT support your government in putting them there
don't forget that the NDP showcased a female member of parlament from afghanistan that said nothing has happened since 2001, but if nothing happened and women were treated that same way as in the past, how was she elected a member of parliment, in a society that women were treated not as equals, but as nothing???? All to their own, make your opion by yourself, but take into the facts before you do
Actually, twlober, all the veterans in the film have been in combat, including Cpl. Oslund, who returned from Afghanistan just before I interviewed him. There is more than one opinion expressed in this video. But some of the strongest anti-war voices are from veterans who have seen combat. That should make you think.
In making this movie, I realized that soldiers are for the most part trying their best to help. Nothing I've seen has convinced me that military intervention is the best way to help in Afghanistan though. Maybe if we stood up and objected more forcefully to the Americans who funded the Taliban, Osama and Saddam in the first place we could better help those people.
first off, your an idiot. with that out of the way oslund has not been in combat. his tour consisted of him siting on a watch tower for the short period that he actually was in afghanistan. be careful about how you cut and paste projects because one day you'll be reaching out for help from the military, police, paramedics or firefighters and we all just might turn our backs to you and walk away just like you feel we shoud do to the people of afghanistan. Loser
A fucking cut and paste video aganist the military to support the director. Its pretty funny that they have a vetrain that has never been in combat, more than likely been in the military for three years and does not not know what he is talking about.... End Pt 1
twlober..your abviiously not a realist and your just another left wing "peace" activist. take it from 99% of soldiers who have been there beleiv ein the mission. 99% of media and journalist who return from afghanistan are struk with passion for the country and the mission. notice the changed tune of our mainsteam media?
As far as I understand myself about why my country is engaged in military operation in Afghanistan, it is due to its commitments to the North American Treaty Organization, or NATO. We are in operations to remove the former Taliban government, which harbored the Leaders and supported the Islamic extremist attacks of September 11, 2001 on Canada's NATO partner, the United States.
We are in continued operations now to make sure that the Taliban will not be able to reinstate itself within, Afghanistan, or the region, and prepare the local people to make a hard stand against its reemergence, as well as supply them with basic services. I understand, and accept the Afghan War, I do not for Iraq, Iraq is unlawful, against the United Nations' Charters, NATO's, and now makes operations in the Middle East highly unstable and counter productive.
Great to live here... Best country in the world. We have an OBLIGATION to help others... It's that simple, we send our best and brightest to help and people -don't have a friggin clue - We don't want to own the country, simply enable them to make their own destiny. I was in the Canadian Forces and know too well how this country sits and sucks the benefits of the world without helping to make it better for others. Peace is not cheap!
