that happened to me too but on my 95 talon 4g63t .. it had the same sound and lots of smoke .. i had a piston about to brake and the oil had lots of metal liltte pieces..
fuel pump is still in working order, if it is then check your cyclinders for fuel and the atomizers on the ends of each injector. Check for proper spark of your spark plugs and the continuity of the spark plug wires. blow out your air intake form the side that faces the engine to the outside air side so as to not blow the air back into the air intake. mainly on 420as you will find these certain steps very helpful in finding your problem. If not find a mechanic to look further into it

@JimmyMcmillan it depends on if you wanna stay FWD or go AWD. as far as AWD goes, i hear its a mother fucker to make it work, soo much to do. FWD should be fairly easy, as far as the trans goes, i don't know, i am no dsm expert but i know people who are so i'll get back to you on that...

@NissanTy your a numnuts the 4g62 motor and trany are reverse from the 420a motor. the 420a motor is actually a chrisler engine asosiated with dodge you can find it on avenger and sebring witch means dodge and chrisler. if you want to do the swap form the 420a to the 4g63 it will cost more than just buying the car that has the 4g63. why not go all the way and get the 1999 mitsubishi eclipse GSX the has turbo manual trany and all wheel drive now that is the car you should be dumping money into

I doun't that the swap can be made but the 4g63 is reverse from 420a. and since the eclipse that has the 4g63 is actually manufactured in Japan and you can only find the motor on 7% of the eclipse's that are here. the other 15% have the 2.5 SOHC.and the other 78% have the 420a 2.0 DOHC.and the 2.5 and 2.0 are US made engines from chrisler.I only mention this because he will need the drive axels from the 4g63 along with trany, computer and all the wiring harness's and if the 4g63 has..
@NissanTy ....a turbo then hell need the turbo oil radiator with all of its hoses and the oil pump for the turbo, and don't forget all the pipping for the inter-cooler and inter-cooler if equipped. and just hope that all the motor mounts work with and US manufactured engine bay that was designed for the 420a motor. and if he can do all the labor himself than he'll save like 1400 bucks. for my money Im looking into the MYVEC V6 motor with variable valve timing just like the 4 piston VTECH

ok, thats a 420a motor and its a connecting rod and it'l eventually sling the rod through the block or you can do what mine did, it went through the top and into the engine head lmao
man u the engine is fucked up i had the same problem a week later the motor blew up but i bought a new motor for about 700 bucks with labor included so start saving money
the 420a engines lifters holes are to slim. i highly recomend pulling off your cams and replacing the lifters with some 3mm lifters. wont ever have to worry about that problem again.
ey dude, first of all that engine is not a 4g63..its a 420a..get it right..i had the same problem like that once..if i were u get it fix before riding it cause you dont want to blow that motor do you..i have the same motor like yours and it sound like that and i blow my number 3 piston.
that noise means the lifters are working when you stop hearing that noise at all it means its broken and you will bend something like a valve or having your valve get hit by a piston which is like that noise only louder which then break your camshaft, either way its bad lifter or you need clean/new or some amount of oil... sounds like 2 quarts low or some nonsense

This is not a 4g63!! This is a 420A Chrysler Engine! How much miles on the motor? Sounds like a bad lifters or no oil on the motor.
