I cant tell if I love it or hate its hard but when you get it it flows smothly until you get stumped again story line was good but I often found myself getting mad when trying to kill them with the movments it ticked me of but for 10$ I say 8/10

Graphiically kinda reminded me of Resident Evil 4, which is good. I bought it today, the limited edition with a better cover and an extra DVD, can't wait to play it :) Looks really good!

The PC port was much easier to play (uses the mouse for gestures) and supports up to 1920 x 1200 resolution. I absolutely loved this game!

I have this and apart from the annoying controls it's actually an alright game. I'm a survival horror fanatic and true survival horror is nearly extinct these days so when one does comes out now and then, i like to snap it up. This game was good as far as i'm concerened.

it's way more then just jump-moments. this game has the atmosphere and weirdness to make you feel scared. you're not a one man army with a shotgun, but you're most of the time defending against attacking spirits, not hunting them.

ever heard of project zero (if your from america its called fatal frame there), theres part 1 -3 for ps2 (1 and 2 also for xbox) and part for the 4, but only in japan... the deal is that some guys made a translation patch which u can over a SD card (until firmware 4.2), with a higher firmware u need homebrew (thats why I gottot HB my wii, friend updated my wii before I could stop him). you should check out that game. scary! horror! just plain awesome!

@WuschelofDespair i've played and loved them all through! i have some awesome memories (especially of crimson butterfly) of playing it with friends and i bought a second wii to mod the first and play games like this! and the ntsc version of the first no more heroes. (i'm from europe) project zero, sotc and ico are the only games that ever made me regret selling my ps2 (maybe black too... sometimes. and one of which i forgot the title... with ghosts also, in a spaceship... 'beyond' something...)

dude I like you! sotc is one of the bst games I ever played (didnt finish nr 16 yet cause I wanna transfere the save game to my ps3 and continue there). and I love PZ, thought I didnt finish one yet xD. I think you mean beyond good and evil? havent played that one yet. I was a gamecube kid in that era, bought a ps2 afterwards and I think it has some great titles to offer, but u mentioned some of the best games of all time, not just the ps2 :) u have taste dude ;)

@WuschelofDespair echo nights beyond was the title. it had a nice atmosphere in my opinion. i still have my gamecube, and beyond good and evil on it. (if i had a choice, i went for the gamecube version of a game) (still looking forward to bg&e 2 though.. if you never played the first, you should try it sometime. i believe it's one of those awfully underappreciated masterpieces...)

@WuschelofDespair echo nights is more or less a first person horror adventure in space. with ghosts. one you can die in. it's not the best game around or anything, but i for one did enjoy it very well.

can't help but think the game designers had penumbra in mind when creating this, and i agree with Detis, shock horror just isn't really scary. silent hill 2, 3 and 4 are good examples of games that do justice to the survival horror genre

Actually, I found that if you swing the controllers down in front of you, the responsiveness is much better. You don't thrust them.

@Heartlessstudios I have the game and have beaten it, you dont use the pick axe as the talkie, you find the talkie off a dead climber when you fall into the crevace. The game takes a while to get going but is really cool once youre at the final twenty minutes and youre near the summit.

P.S: If you liked it, try Silent Hill if you haven't already.

make sure to hold the wiimote and the nunchuck straight up and down vertically for the push gestures. Like you are holding an umbrella handle or a torch. Also, make sure you wait a split second between gestures. Be very deliberate with the moves. This should increase how often they register quite a bit though they will still screw up now and then. Mostly on the nunchuck. I still haven't figured out how to get the controls to work well when it has you center yourself though.

Being scared isn't the same as being surprised. When something or someone jumps out at you when you expected it or not it's not entirely being scared nor is it always a legitimate one. The creepy factor the one that can make you think and feel "scared" to be alone or that eeriness makes more sense of a scare. Sure jump scare work but they stop working real quick.

@Detis Amnesia: The Dark Descent for the PC is the prime example of using atmosphere and subtlety to make you actually scared instead of using jump scares to build up horror. Cursed Mountain does this sort of thing to a lesser degree, but still does it rather well.

I started playing this tonight. I'm on the third chapter. So far, I'm enjoying. The controls are easy to use and fairly responsive, (sometimes the waggle motions tend not to work, but only rarely). Combat is a tad bit too easy, but exploring is fun. It's a creepy game, but not right out scary. Hasn't made me jump yet, and I scare easy. Because I jumped while playing Ju-on. Still, Curse Mountain is a good game. I recommend it.

Haha, true. The controls aren't all that bad in Cursed Mountain though believe me. I think, I might be doing the waggle motions wrong (you see they display the way you swing the wiimote, and I'm probably doing it wrong half the time)

WRONG! Siren didn't look good for a PS2 game, the realistic faces they gave them fade emotions, how strange is that. The Siren reboot ones on the PS3 look pretty good though, not the best the system has to offer, but an update at least.

Simple answer there: the Wii generally gets more experimental types of games because it is cheaper to develop for. PSN and XBLA are similar in this sense, but on the Wii developers can make disc-sized games for less cost. Still, it's best for devs to make games for the systems they'd work best on, and it seems Deep Silver was influenced here by the fantastic Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition.
