remember this match, federer was cracking winner´s and hardly making, any unforced error´s during the whole match, monaco was frustrated, he couldn´t believe it...the federer express, was in full flight.
Fed was n beast mode this entire match lol. It as insane. He was either trying to get a good workout in or really hungry and had reservations to keep lol! Even the commentators got a kick out of how fast he was trying to put Monaco away. If he had a flag he prob would have waved it mid way through the 2nd set...
Is it just me or does Federer always play crazy good in the earlier rounds of slams? Especially US Open. He hits his backhand and serving spots so sweetly. Then come SF....shame.
I remember staying up to watch this live. I know this is only a fourth round match, but I thought Fed was gonna win the whole turnament after seeing this
@BenKey4 Yeah me too. Had he played like that he would have no doubt. Nothing Monaco or anyone else can do when he's in that mood. My guess is physically it takes too much out of him, or anyone to play like that every match.
monaco got many of returns in and hit many beautiful first serves and he hit every ball aggressive and as accurate as he could.... what the f@$k happened? .....almost became the first triple bagel... fed made everyone look bad... he even had me going when he played djokovic
This match was played at 1am and Federer clearly wanted to get home to sleep lol. This match should be put into the history books. He was playing so aggressive compared to his normal casual play. I watched this match live, there were no highlights by Monaco since Federer destroyed him. Why do you people keep complaining about the non-existent highlights? Are you mentally ill? Are you so ill that you have the inability to enjoy what you are seeing? Maybe you are related to Monaco.. idk
This is why Federer has 16 grand slams and, in his prime, was the best player EVER - better than 2010 Nadal and 2011 Djokovic. He plays with such efficiency and class, it's quite remarkable, really.
@Rrobba1 Best shotmaker ever to pick up a racquet period. The others are more defense than anything, and Nadal is is a work horse, grinds down his opponents physically, but Fed is pure tennis skills
@rachray83 rafa is a pretty agressive baseliner also, sure he´s more of counter-puncher, but, he´s got shot making power also. think roger, just hit´s a flatter, penetrating ball and he comes to net, more often.
Moments like these is what got me into tennis in the first place. When Federer is having a good day it's one of the most amazing sights in all of sports what he does
SEE i fucking told you fucking noobs that Federer was saving his energy for the later stage matches, he's playing his BEST fucking tennis in the first round against Giraldo and in this match against Manaco, omg im always right about him but no one understands because they're fking retarded FUCK YOU FEDERER DOUBTERS
FEDERER NEEDS TO HIRE MONACO AND DO PRACTICE SESSIONS WITH HIM. HE CAN HELP REACTIVATE/RE-ELEVATE HIS GAME. FEDERER TOO GOOD OF A PLAYER TO BE LOSING FOCUS AND PLAYING BADLY LATELY.
FEDERER Still got it, he just needs to focus hard and act like he is playing for fun. It's all mental for federer now, the physical still there, but when the mental screws with him then the physical follows right behind
Thanks so much for this, Sanya! Great video and absolutely makes up for missing the match. Roger, keep that feeling! That's how you can and should be. The greatest ever.
I watched this live on tv but.. I had to add this to my favorites.. it is simply amazing. Monaco played a good match.. this was Federer at his best.. just simply destroying his opponent... people should watch this video countless times!
To whoever is saying that Roger Federer is done, he is now shutting up every single one of them... we are going to have this guy for a long time..and I know that he will have 20 grand slam under him.. I know it...
Nole is number 1 only because he is lucky.. but is he really? I do not think so... but let him believe it. Roger proved him wrong in Roland Garros... and Tsonga got lucky in Wimbledon too... WATCH OUT... THE FEDEREXPRESS IS COMING IN... .
it was so sorry to hear that idiot of that Juan Monaco using the time of the day to really say that it was affecting him to play better... Hey dude.. just take it as it is.. you got beat because you are not at yet.. near Roger Federer level... you got lot to learn.. dude.... just keep on practicing and get ready to play whenever and wherever you have to... and not make time for excuses... just practice more instead... you very need this.
@andres1963 Monaco is no idiot. At least he finished the match and didn't fake an injury and retire as so many others would have done. Instead he gave the spectators a show to watch after they had waited all that time. Roger gave him credit for fighting bravely and so should we. And practising more wouldn't have helped him one jot that night - Roger was just too good.
Normally i would have hoped for a Fed-Rafa final, but because of Nadals injuries i think Murray might beat him, and imo Roger can get past both Tsonga and Nole, and if he does so it might be the us open of 08 just all over again, Djokovic in the semis, Murray in the final! But i really hope for the intertainment value than the pains somehow stop bothering Rafa that much and we might get a great Fed-Rafa final thou i doubt it. Might in reality be Nole-Murray.
he needs to own that court like it's his bitch. you know roger is in form when you stop rooting for him not to miss the shot and instead start feeling bad for the bloke on the other side of the net!
Just think how many more Majors he can win if he is able to play this kind of tennis. Monaco is no slouch and he likes to hit to the Federer backhand but his one hander was almost as good as his forehand today.
So... Roger was motivated to get off the court... I have not seen Rog this focused and on the ball in quite some time. Can you see and feel the attitude and confidence in Rog? This confidence and air of superiority have been lacking in Roger of late.
@bobomber Took the words out of my mouth. He still got it, just needs to get his mental together, that's it. He can play for another five years, if he can consistently play like this
