I think it's amazing that humans have come so far as to be able to put something like this up above the earth's atmosphere when only 100 years ago cars hadn't even been invented.
Has anyone noticed the 'face' at 1:09 (centre of image) below one of the radiator panels? There seems to be a skull-like image to the right of that panel too.
Are the two large solar array banks supposed to be so "out of alignment?" I always thought they were in the same alignment but the closer bank (at 3:14 or so) looks to be about 12 degrees "to the right" or clockwise to the one behind it.
Thank you Nasa for this video for the planet get a real insite on how far our tecnology has come. thanks though to our Marxist Muslum president who has
shut down Nasa from going to other planets in which the American culture
@divine6699 Last I heard, the point of going into space was for scientific research and exploration; not to establish our (American) culture there. No doubt space will oneday become a battleground of some kind, as most all other places mankind has gone have been at one time or another (how sad) but, aside from flags on the moon (in the middle of the Cold War), we're not trying to put anything but human culture (by default) into space.
OMG! Check out the stills at NASA. they are amazing! All are absolutely clean. Thanks NASA & Paolo & Russian Space Agency (for putting convenient windows on the Soyuz)
YTVUK: Stars are too faint. Video was shot in broad daylight so the exposure was adjusted accordingly. It is the same reason why stars do not show up in any picture taken of any solar system body when illuminated by the sun including the Apollo pictures taken on the moon except those that required deep exposures in order to show gess what? Stars precisely for navigation purposes.
@project2012 ESA Astronaut Paolo Nespoli shot this from the undocked Soyuz (25S) spacecraft on their return trip home. And yes, Atlantis is the last shuttle mission (July 8, 2011)
@AndrewtheATC They only rotate the individual panels; not the whole station; though they can rotate the whole station. Because of Newton's laws(opposite/equal reactions) they can fire thrusters on the docked shuttle/soyuz to rotate it, or I think the ISS has it's own RCS thrusters; though I'm not totally sure why they would rotate the whole thing; since the side facing the earth will change based on where it is in it's orbit.
What an awesome look at the International Space Station and the docked craft, the Endeavor, from the view of the Soyuz. Truly remarkable! I wish I could be up there.
Overwhelming, beautiful, technology is art in my book. How come we have never seen footage like this before? Only now, at the end of the shuttle's life do we get to see it in all it's glory?!?
Unique and stunning video, you did a great job Paolo and the great pictures you took you can download on the NASA website are absolutely stunning and the best is now my desktop frontpage!!
Thank you NASA, Roscosmos, JAXA and all space agencies involved.
Humanity's outpost in space is driving us into the future. I can' t wait to see all the research and technological progress that comes from using the ISS.
Keep trying to come up with something to say. The only thing I come up with is, Thank you to the entire Nasa team and everyone involved in the ISS. I want to say all the country names but all I can come up with is France, Japan, Russia, and USA. For those I missed, I appologize and thank you greatly for my childs future of seeing such great marvels of humankinds small steps. Peace.
@greenmoors are you stoopid? they shooted this video through a window UP IN SPACE that is designed to withstand micro-meteorite impacts. can't you be thankful for the people who did this? this is the only footage there will ever be of a shuttle docked to the iss. ungrateful, ignorant people like you should be launched into the sun if it didn't cost that much.
@greenmoors it's not the lens that's dirty, it's the window they're shooting it through. The windows on the Soyuz were never designed to be "optically pure", so it's only expected that there are some flaws.
@greenmoors clean it? in microgravity.. while they are manually flying to not get the sun in the lens and performing all kinds of checks and procedures. they are in space, have you noticed? they are amongst the select 200 people who've actually visited the station. there's a reason this is the only footage of the shuttle docked to the station. but yeah, you're so friggin wise man, wish i had your brains! piss off
@greenmoors You have to realize that this module is docked to the ISS for a full six months before they undock. Stuff floats around the station and gets on the windows sometimes, just like any other piece of glass. These window's aren't maintained for optical quality, so they're not on the cleaning schedule. Get over it. Astronauts get busy sometimes. Go figure.
