I remember this during SIGGRAPH. It was and still is a truely amazing piece of emotion/ hard work/ and art. The Hyperrealism style used on the chartacter models and background make this all feel real enough to think on it but also abstract enough so as to not appear overly depressing. The concept and hyperrealistic characters seem oddly familiar to the video game "Brink". I wonder if some of their art and storyboard department were inspired by this Film.

contd...The image he sees in the microscope is the same as the macroscopic view of the ships shown from above infectin the island. So he feels guilty but he realises it late, as in when he is old and he is in convalescent home, that he shud have not got onto the island in the first place. So in that deep remorse, he tries to attempt suicide which he thinks that he shud have done it long ago on the ship and hence the video of suicide on the ship....Too good...like the creativity of the director

This is so awesome direction and animation too...In short, the man was infected with virus like others. He came to know when he was on the ship. But that ship was meant to carry all healthy ppl far away from where every1 lived because the place where they used to live was infected

with virus diseased ppl. This guy comes to know it on the ship and he feels guilty that he is gonna infect the new land like the virus infected his blood.

Yes, the music was composed specifically for this short by Moritz Schmittat for a composition contest where he scored 2nd. He is a 2nd year student at the Royal College of Music in London.
