  • It used to be the reason I'm breathing, now it's choking me up.

  • "This is the first and last time," he says.

She fakes a smile and presses her hips into his.

He keeps his hands pinned down at his sides.

He's holding back from telling her

exactly what it really feels like.

  • Story of my life.

  • So many memories.

  • @Headhunter0420 At what point in that story is anything said worth calling anyone of any gender a "faggot"? Fucking asshole.

  • @BloodSimba art is gay

  • feel like I'm in high school again . . .

  • favorite song <3

  • In high school, my history class was forty minutes of power point notes, so it was easy to hide my earphones in my hair and listen to this cd, but mostly this song on repeat, and take my notes. This song reminds me of high school to the T. I love the story. I used the chorus, the best chorus in the world, "The fever, the focus..." in an art project. I screen printed the lyrics onto my sweat shirt and I think my art teacher stole it from me because of the content. I still have my screen though.

  • @DuchessDank I hope your a chick. Otherwise I'm compelled to call you a faggot.

  • @headhunter0420

    - I do believe, duchess is directed as a female.. dumbass...

  • will always be able to appreciate this song!

  • love the DIE YOUNG AND SAVE YOUR SELF!

  • I think it's "SHE keeps HIS hands pinned down at his sides." because really how can he keep his own hands pinned down. holla fix it bitch. It's gonna bother me until you fix it.

  • @theassortedjellybean Definitely "he keeps his". In this case pinning is the act of keeping them from moving not by physical force but by mental.

If you were an awkward boy not drunk enough to know how to lose your virginity it's how you would react.

  • @zunee27 I see what you did there, thumbs up to you kind sir

  • "UP THE STAIRS THE STATION WHERE THE ACT BECOMES THE ART OF GROWING UP!!!!!"

  • i feel like im 15 again haha.

  • New favorite song.............

  • ¡ɹǝɥ ploɥ oʇ sɐʍ pǝʇuɐʍ ı llɐ puɐ ʇsɐɟ ooʇ ʎɐʍ ƃuıʌoɯ sı ǝɥs

  • this song still kicks ass

  • i was supposed to see them in concert about 9 years ago, i bought my ticket and everything and then my grandpa passed away. so the night of the concert i listened to them on an airplane on my way back to my hometown. talk about depressing.

  • No, this is a literal song about sex when you're still in a boyish mindset. Me vs Maradona vs Elvis is the sex-as-a-metaphor-for-the-music-industry song.

  • it's a metaphor for his experience in the music industry i'm pretty sure.

  • Aw kinda sad :/

  • jessey hi its sonny

  • I became a Brand New fan after seeing them support Incubus in 2004. I went and bought Deja Entendu from the merch stand between the two sets despite never having heard them before that night.

  • @Meteddica I love you

  • @theassortedjellybean Are you female? Because we could get married.

  • Oh the awkwardness of teenage sex, well can be at first.

  • Sic Transit Gloria ^^ <3<3<3 Brand new :D

  • It's kinda sad how some of their songs describe my life to a 100 percent.

  • teenage problems and shitty women and alloott of regret

  • reminds me of 16year old sex :D good times!!

  • @SilentDarkness2332 which is weird, because clearly the young man in this song is not having a good time.....

  • @oak3cbc2 It's hard to tell. It's like he likes it, but he don't know what the fuck to do. Which is a good interpretation.

  • fuck this song hits me hard

  • what a selfish bitch. setting the push tempo should be reserved for guys unless cowgirl is involved :)

  • always gets me in the mood for skateboarding >.<

  • This song is so beautiful.

  • "This is so messed up"

  • Die young and Save yourself is right.

  • The intro/first verse reminds me of The Wallflowers so much.

  • Fucking love this song

  • woooow, new favorite artist.

  • this is one raunchy song

  • @VISHMAN14 Yeah very.

  • brand new is very underrated, nobody at my school knows who they are lol

  • does anyone know what this song is about?

  • @iixlovex40z well no shit. its about a guy losing his virginity.

  • @tabikat13 Yes :D.

  • @tabikat13 More specifically a guy losing his virginity to a girl who could give a fuck about him. He regrets it like immediately after. He wishes it was a girl he was in love with.

Point A) of the song being: don't give it up to someone who doesn't love you/you don't love, whether you're a guy or a girl.

Point B) of the song being: girls can be shitty too.

  • @AngryMuffin822 if you watch the video, it almost gives the idea that it's about control. that love can control you, or in this case what you think is love can.

  • @iixlovex40z Listen to the lyrics, dear. It's pretty self-explanatory. ♥

  • @skoorstad Nawt really this song can interpreted so many different ways XD It's pretty controversial what this song is actually about.

  • @WESTCOAST6789 Not...really... "A hand moves in the dark to a zipper." and, something about his friends telling him about it but him not being prepared. It's kind of shouting, "SEXY TIME." Just saying.

  • This song is hella fun to play on bass :3

  • Why can't I stop listening to this song? ...So... good...

  • 0:12 to skip fucking ads

  • Best. Song. EVER.

  • "Sic Transit Gloria"?

    i love rushmore!!

    bill muray is too funny!!

  • I'm addicted.

  • Die Young And Save Yourself.

  • Why the fuck did an add pop up D:<

  • Fucking ads.

  • SEXY SONG.

  • I think the video's just weird a shit haha enough said

  • I'm absolutely in love with this song, and I've tried on and off for like two years to like the rest of Brand New, but I can't.

  • @jfreak3339 You don't like "The quiet things that no one ever knows" Or "The boy who blocked his own shot" ??

  • this song is badass for lots of reasons. the main one being it antagonizes women for a change.

  • To the 4 people who don't like this song:

    SMD

    :D

  • I didn't reallize exactly what this song was about until I really read the lyrics. It's actually somewhat disturbing. A kid put in a regrettable situation. It makes so much more sense than the music video for the song does.

  • @CrossingScoville The music video shows all of the other guys that the girl in the song victimized. It is supposed to symbolize all of the other men vying for her attention. They copy Jesse Lacey in the video because they want her to notice them again. That is how I interpret it at least.

  • wicked song :D so many people mistaken it to be a a7x song and im like wtf is wrong you people :P. a7x is awesome too tho:Pm it just doesnt sound like them

  • this was on a game but i cant remember which one :(

  • @kalikoura The quiet things that no one ever knows was on nhl 2003 i dont know if thats what you were thinking of or not.

  • We listened to this album at work last night. This song is what caught my attention. I'm diggin these guys.

This is the kind fo band I usually wouldn't be into just because of the labels thta go wiht it but I give up on labels. if it sounds good to me I'm listening to it.

  • @thefunkyfighter jeaah! but the weed is great and so is the peanut butter. But I'm no expert on the peanutbutter thing, is it more delicious in your country? :'(

  • how can you be both a nihilist and a communist? I thought nihilists didnt believe in anything ;)

  • @munchking111 i believe in the power of love...

  • @munchking111 Do nihilists believe in nihilism?

  • in a literal sense yea, except its a guy being raped by a woman

  • @kdubb366 not really getting "raped" more like having sex because you feel peer pressured

  • This song brought me straight back to the time when i first heard this song, so many memories.

  • i love this. perfect frustration song.

  • about time where the guy is the victim. i always thought the world was sexist and thought everything was always the guys fault.

  • Hands down my favorite song to listen to while skateboarding or longboarding.

  • This is the kind of music that I wish I could... while it's really hard to put into words. It's just so amazing that i wish I could tributize it in some way.

  • This song speaks to me great lyrics.

anytime i tried to download this song it was always the version with the weird tune added at the second verse.

  • i think that sex is a metaphor for the music industry,

"it used to be the reason i breathed but now it's choking me up"

  • i agree with you

    that totally makes sense

  • same thing for me....makes me feel bad.

  • 12,000 views exacloty coza me, for this moment i acually matter =)

  • i love this fuckin song

  • AHHH I love it :D

  • Comment removed

  • Your expectations suck as do you. Brand New is awesome.

  • I suggest you listen to the Quiet Things That No One Ever Knows.

  • But I always have thought that every song other than that one was better. Though it was the only one I've ever heard on the radio.

  • okay so whats really this song about?

  • A boy reluctantly losing his virginity as he realizes its not what he wanted, not what he was ready for; he is no longer innocent.

  • It's A Song About A Boy Being Raped By A Girl. ;O

  • goodness i never really looked at the lyrics

this is a brilliant 'turning of the tables'

  • Beast bass line

  • love this shit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • wow. i always love the lyrics of Brand New songs. this one is very interesting, i couldnt stop lystening to it, :D

  • these lyrics are really intriguing, its such a play on the age-old concept that the guy is making the sex happen and the girl just isn't ready for it, but the male in this song seems to hate it so much.. Its a really good song and its easy to see why they hit it so big in such a short time.

  • great bass line

  • This song is the story of my life lol well earlier life

  • great song!

a long time ago i heard it in a skate video...

and all i remembered was that bass line...
