The only reason that unemployment looks to be improving in states, is that everyone that loses their unemployment and is no longer eligible, is not counted in the ratings. So every time people are dropped from unemployment benefits, it makes it look like there is an improvement, which in reality is not true. They only base the percentage on people that have jobs verses people that are drawing benefits.

They are not the only factor, but they can be a large factor at times if they choose to do things. But their effects are always negative. IE they can only make more debt.

We need a Bill that requires companies to keep a certain amount of U.S. jobs in order to sell their product here. Also there needs to be a clause that they have to get so much building material from U.S. suppliers.

The job market for college grads has been bad for many years in california. It might have been good in some industries in certain parts of the country but california has been in a depression for many years. The only reason why the unemployment never reflected it was because of the phony bubble jobs created in construction and mortgages and finance and education and healthcare.

In my opinion, if they wanted to create jobs they should get rid of NAFTA. A good chunk of the manufacturing jobs lost have been to cheap foreign labor and imports because of NAFTA. In my surrounding area we have lost well over 5000 jobs because of this agreement since Clinton. It just made it cheaper for American companies to move out of country and import here than it was to employ Americans and run those industries here.

The job market for college grads has been bad for many years in california. It might have been good in some industries in certain parts of the country but california has been in a depression for many years. The only reason why the unemployment never reflected it was because of the phony bubble jobs created in construction and mortgages and finance and education and healthcare.

Its not just the young. a lot of people are out of work, even poor and homeless and looking for work. While less companies hiring, and those who do are more choosy of who they hire. A lot of people...including myself are either overqualified; and.or not really many jobs;
and.or an excess of labor pool and companies more picky and choosy of who they want and like.

Demcad would you rather see the country fall even quicker? If the bail outs didn't happen millions more jobs would have been lost. President Obama is making sure the poorest of the citizens get a little something. Where as Bush ONLY looked out for the super wealthy. There are a lot of good things the president wants to do but his hands are a bit tied with the WORLD! Obama is buying us time to get prepared for what has been planned by the founding fathers years ago. Good to see ya.

In my opinion, if they wanted to create jobs they should get rid of NAFTA. A good chunk of the manufacturing jobs lost have been to cheap foreign labor and imports because of NAFTA. In my surrounding area we have lost well over 5000 jobs because of this agreement since Clinton. It just made it cheaper for American companies to move out of country and import here than it was to employ Americans and run those industries here.

Housing around here in Ky needs to drop 60% to get back to normal. The Housing bubble is still heavy in curtain parts of rural areas. $40,000 homes was being appraised for 100,000 or more.
Almost all sales have stopped, I think the
foreclosures are soon to come.

on the discussion point of "consumer economy" i took garbage to the local dump this week and the manager told me that the amount of garbage has decreased from1300 tons per month to 600 tons per month... simply put...no one is spending money on junk...the garbage is kitchen gabage, not old tvs, cd players, toys ect...
