Neither, if you want to buy for gaming, the best cheap card to go for is the 9600GSO or GT. Or if you want more power (you will need it for todays games) Get the LITTLE BIT BETTER 9800Gt and then for the average gamer get the GTX 260 or HD 4870. These cards listed are all old and out dated and todays games will punish them, but an 8600GT or 7600GT is just not going to work at all.

I have to say... Get a 8800GS instead!! 8600GTS is still on the 128 bit mem bus! If you actually can buy a card, 8800 Ultra for $200!... 8800GS = $77, 8800GT (9800GT) = $100, 4850 = $200, 4870 = $300!!! No one should give a shit about this.  It was used, because all the cards (high end) 8800 costed like 400 or more. They don't anymore, so there isn't any point of buying these low ends anymore

There is no Difference in terms of games between ultimate and Home premium. Ultimate has a few extras like the extra sounds and stuff and the bitlocker drive stuff. Ultimate is more bloated than Home Premium so games might run slower on ultimate but NEver Faster. Imo i use Ultimate its same as Home premium.

DX10 Is a runtime that is included with every Vista and Its the same in each one.

I own an 8600GT 512mb right now, and they are really decent cards. I got mine when they were $169.99 or so with a rebate, and now you can get one for $100, so it just goes to show that you can't stay in the spotlight long with computer parts. As of now, I'd highly reccomend an 8800GT for $179.99 with rebate from TigerDirect. An 8800GT is better than a 9600GT, even if you SLI them both with a second card. The 9600 is just as expensive because it's made with a smaller manufacturing process. 45nm?
