  • was this in Indiana?

  • Mark is badass!!! Haters gonna hate cuz they have no skill an cant play like that haha

  • 2:11 He losses the beat and laughs. There is no one video on YouTube where this shit face doesnt get lost.

  • And again, another video in which mark guiliana hesitates and loses the beat (00:6) This guy is a disaster and the most ridiculously overrated drummer ever. A load of utter crap. How come there are so many morons liking this guy is beyond me. But I guess as Lars Ulrich has his following of adoring (and obviously deaf) fans, this asswhipe has them too. Born one every minute.

  • @leonzioooo

It's a jam session, you don't know what that means, do you?

  • @Existentialexplosion Well I don't know what a jam session means to you... but to me it definitely doesn't mean play-as-bad-as-fuck-cos-wah-jamming like it seems to be Guiliana's moto. This guy is crap jamming or not.

  • @leonzioooo

Why you hate him so much anyway, if you find him so obscene (despite praising reviews all over that is) say it in a polite manner.

  • @leonzioooo

And I'd like to see what's your favorite drummer if that possible

  • @Existentialexplosion Sure, I like guys like Dave Weckl, Jo Jo Mayer, Peter Erskine, Keith Carlock, Thomas Lang, Sean Rickman, Steve Gadd, Cliff Almond, Andre Cecarelli, and the girls Hilary jones, Emmanuelle Caplette, Cindy Blackman among many others. Check them out, you'll see why I think Guiliana is crap.

  • @leonzioooo

These are really good drummers, some even legendary. But from a modern point of view they are quite conventional (except Jojo Mayer) I think. Guiliana is fresh and playful, he's not afraid to experiment on the spot, that's what I like about him. He's spontaneous. An other great example of this kind of playing, and my personal favorite is Han Bennink. Also, an other one I discovered recently that excites me is Xavier Desandre Navarre

  • @Existentialexplosion Han Bennink?? Seriously..? Oh well, I guess is a matter of taste. In the end you should listen to what makes you happy and so should I.

  • @leonzioooo

Exactly. That's why you should stop insulting Mark Guiliana. :)

  • @leonzioooo you go up on stage with wayne krantz and improvise. i know that you couldnt hack it and if you could, someone would have noticed you. however, you cant and so you just on your computer a talk shit. god forbid someone fucks up while making music on spot. ill wil give you the benefit of the doubt, lars ulrich is a bitch and isnt talented.

  • @absolutezero6 I dont know Wayne Krantz and I live in England, so I doubt that a meetine like that could ever happen. What I dont doubt is that I would definitely do a better job jamming with Wayne, that I can assure you. This guy is crap, and the reason why he is playing with these guys totally escapes me. Cant you hear the totall incongruence of his playing? the hesitation? the total divorce between riff, music and what he is doing? he is playing alone, not listening at all and just fucking up.

  • @PureParticle

right... that's probably because Mark is just going off, he doesn't really seem to be listening to Wayne. Dude's just soloing while Krantz plays on top.

I LOVE Mark Guiliana BTW, he's one of my favorite drummers, but here he seems to be more concerned in showing off his skills than making music with such a great musician as Krantz.

  • This is the shit!!!!

  • i love how no matter what wayne does, he's still not as cool as mark

  • Sooo nice.

  • Magnificent! I'm blown away! I cant stop watching...Oh God what a drummer

  • @Existentialexplosion Drummer? where? Oh God, a load of pans falling down a stair well make more rhythmic sense than this double chin idiot.

  • fns hell yss

  • the guitarist... eh... guiliana... BIG UPS!!

  • thanks alot for the links!

  • every time i come back to this it kicks my ass.

  • nice!

  • I promise you this guy listens to Jojo Mayer. God this is brilliant. So much energy.

  • @maddpiklz48

They live in the same town. They probably listen to each other.

  • ...yes

  • lol ... I think my Goldfish just died. Maybe I had this on too loud.

  • a real rhythmic conversation -- great playing and cool sounds

  • the ending reminds me of meshuggah about three octaves up

  • 1:58 - 2:12 is pure filth there's really no other way to describe that

  • is the full show worth the listen?

  • @sumstufflol YES

  • Kitchen pot ftw!

  • Amazing!

  • No offense to Wayne Krantz, but in this one I would much rather have liked to listen to Mark on his own.

  • @PureParticle they both frame space for each other. no way i'd have the same feeling with one of them out

  • this guys are just jerking off

  • This is great! And you absolutely rule for putting up the MP3s!

  • it is sick

  • Quickly becoming one of the finest drummers on the international jazz scene. Mark's killin it.

  • @accurate18 too bad he is so egotistical

  • sick, sick playin

  • mark is killing it, holy shit

  • what is on his ride?

  • @ZackPomerleau a pot, I believe.

  • @ZackPomerleau a pan

  • @ZackPomerleau i think its a pot

  • SICKEST EVER!

  • Thank you for you efforts to share this moment in music fusion.

  • I want to hear Krantz and Ari Hoenig play together. I think the sheer rhythmic force they would create would trigger Armageddon!

  • Thank you so much for the live mp3's!!! This is absolutely jaw dropping stuff. Mark Guilana is it!

  • dman have a metal cup on tis ride bell yes LOL i love this dude I love Heernt too.. he`s the drummer right?

  • this is ridiculous.

  • thank u so much norwalkstylee for the upload!

  • mark is my favorite of the month because of this

  • Is that cookware on the ride? Haha thats awesome. Sounds great. Mark is my hero!

  • @dudestube - Video was recorded with a Canon PowerShot SD790 IS - standard point-and-shoot camera with video function; video sound was captured straight into the camera's mic!

The audio linked in the video info section was captured with a Zoom H2 recorder - best investment for anyone who wants to record anything anywhere, no joke.

  • @norwalkstylee for real dude. the shitty compressor built into the camera sounds great on the drums!!!! insane!!!

  • What were you using to record this ?

    Video ?

    Audio ?

It's pretty crisp. Thanks for posting this !!!

    -jS

  • Are those Crotales? Excellent, Mark, absolutely excellent.

  • great musicians and thanks for the mp3s

  • By the way, this is great music

  • unbelievable!! Thanks for sharing you just made my week

  • Incredible!

  • I think Wayne was leaving space for Mark move into a new expression. It didn't catch fire.

  • Hey Norwalkstylee, thank you so much for sharing also the audio recordings, that is so great of you. This music needs to be spread out!

  • really cool, reminds me of Meshuggah at parts..but of course, these guys have far greater knowledge of harmony and pitch

  • Unless you have met and spent time with the guys from Meshuggah, you shouldn't assume that they don't have a great knowledge of pitch and harmony, which they probably do by the way. You shouldn't judge their konowledge of music based on their style, for if Meshuggah was any different to begin with, they wouldn't be nearly as great as they are. Them choosing to harmonize and arrange instruments in a certain way doesn't justify your statement.

  • didn't mean to bash meshuggah in any way, they are one of my favorite bands and i listen to them frequently ( far more than krantz ). I just know Wayne is a professor at UT in austin tx. Hes a jazz wizard and I'd bet my life he has a great deal of knowledge on harmony. Probably more than most musicians i listen to. I of course, could be completely wrong though =x

  • Fucking play that shit!

  • sick shit ditto!

  • killllllerrrrrrr

  • sick

  • UPDATE!!

The links for the full show mp3's have changed. The old links have been replaced in the video info section with the new ones. Download away!

  • PHUCK! I mean PHUCK YEAH!!!!!!

  • anybody know how he gets his snare like that?

  • I've seen him put a wallet on the top of the snare, which gives it that really tight sound. A lot of guys are doing that now, like Jamire Williams and Chris Dave.

  • Thats weird u mention that because ive been seeing people do that alot to its p[retty neat. I usually just use a moongel of a half of a moongel. But thats interesting. Marks snare sounds great. Have u listened to Jason Lindner presents Now vs Now? Marks drums sound sick on that. I read one article somewhere where even mark was saying how unbeleivable his drums sounded.

  • sweet jesus.....awaesome! so much so I can't even spell.

  • WOW !!! AMAZING !!!! Could you try to upload the files again ?, it says error each time i tryed to download them. I would apreciatte it SO MUCH !!! Thanks 4 Posting this clip. :D

  • Shite!, I missed this show... simply rakws...

  • Right on, guys!

  • FUCK

  • norwalkstylee dude... i got no words for what u've done... THANK YOU SO F'IN MUCH, ive been expecting this section (krantz/guiliana) for as long as ive known both parts and this just fucking blew my brains/expectations away. THIS IS SICK!!!

  • this is great, far better than great actually

    he bangs the drums

  • lol yeah they're both cool actually. the good thing is they're different so they wont conflict over wayne

  • Hey Wayne what is that flange tubular sound you get with the pedals. Just Curious.

  • he's got a list of his gear on his website. but sounds like a proper nice overdrive with a bit of ring mod maybe. i know he doesnt use flange or chorus anymore

  • The future of music.

  • may we all hope so...

  • OMG!

his control over the whole set...it's insane!!!!!!!

  • the thing he puts on his ride cymbal just insaine !!!

he can make coffee on it right after ....

  • yeh yeh yeh!

  • love the sauce pan

  • Thank you SO MUCH for this.

  • awesome.

  • thank you for the video and the mp3's!!!

  • seconded!

  • thirded!

  • ..................!!!!!!!!

  • sick

  • Holy Cow - NICE! This is Wayne's new main drummer? Never heard of him before now... cool finger technique; he's not as loud & fat as Carlock but those are some damn disjointed rhythms -- lost the 1 a few times... LOVE IT!

  • and by fat you meant sound , right?

  • @culpritto of course -- fat sound, fat groove... that's how I describe Carlock, Bonham, etc.

  • those are the most beautiful rhythms god!

  • @xleeca Ya, dude. That's one of Krantz's main specialties. And the drummers he plays with always have amazing rhythm.

  • Mark is one KILLer drummer !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • terrible y asesino man, vengan a la argentina y dejense de joder!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • a bootleg of this stuff anybody?

  • Awesome!

  • this dude and carlock are two of the most incredible drummers

  • ohh my god.. that break down at 5 minutes was insane.. and when they started building up around 6 minutes.. man if i were in the room i would have started yelling and going crazy this is so amazing.. i'm so glad there are musicians taking music this direction. this guy is my new favorite drummer.. endless flavors to his rhythms

  • that was the best sounding cooking pot i've ever heard in my life

  • i dig the zoom

  • wish i was there

  • genius, genius, genius...
