Matusow would look like a huge donk if Chris was bluffing (although Chris hardly ever bluffs and only plays super premium hands most of the time), and it wasn't much more to call to try to flop a set. He must have known he had high implied odds because if he knew Chris had a big pair it would be hard to get away from.

Whatever the case be, this was a great lay down by Mike.

@SpW4Z The one thing I like about Mattusow's fold is that he didn't pay Ferguson off. If there's one thing I hate, it's tight players like Ferguson, Lederer & Esfandiari to a certain extent getting paid off for their big hands. They rarely bluff unless it's a short handed game.

If he puts Chris on KK or AA (which he obviously did since he folded) then he should be calling $4600 more every time when they're both as deep as they are, since if he flops a set, he wins most or all of Chris' stack. So even if he is a 4:1 dog preflop, hes only calling $4600 to possibly win 100k when the flop comes Q high and he takes Ferguson's entire stack. Learn about implied odds dipshit. Goodbye.

@slicer1028 By that logic the implied odds would warrant a call with virtually every single hand, even the 7 2 is only 5% behind the QQ in that spot. He's only gonna flop a set 10% of the time, and Poker After Dark isn't played in a regular cash game setting, thus you can't reload if you go busted and the stakes are lower. It's not a +EV play to call $4600 when you know you're beat. In poker, you cut your losses in that case, not chase marginal implied odds with only 2 outs.

@4thwonder against Chris Ferguson you're never getting set mining odds. He can lay them down post easier than anyone else on earth. Mike would have to win a 60k+ pot and with about 14k on the flop that is very unlikely vs Chris. Virtually anyone else (except Lederer) and you might have a case.

You know what is a hand range ?

There are 16 combos of AK and only 6 AA and 6KK so almosth 60% of the time Chris will have AK (16/28), and QQ vs AK is not a 50 50 LMAO (QQ vs AKo = 57 43, QQ vs AKs = 54 46, those 4-7% differentials make a huge difference in the long run)

@alive2k7 what you fail to understand is that AA vs QQ = 80-85% AA favor. when you know how to read an opponent, you will take these calculations vs your AK theory. Mike felt that Chris wouldn't three bet any other hand but a KK or AA and an unlikely same pair of QQ and very doubtful of JJ. Chris's range of hand is known to be very tight. it all depends on the player.

Except that Chris is OOP, he is never flat calling with AK out of position, always 3betting this hand, so at worst Chris' range is QQ+,AK, against this range QQ has 40% equity, Mike is in position and they're like 300BB deep
