  • and that's as good as it gets!!

  • 2nd chord is a Cadd9. :)

  • That was really great! I really apprecaited the way you came up close to the camera, doesn't seem that difficult after that. can't wait to learn it! Also, and may I suggest, that the Hawaiian pronunciation of ukulele is: ooh Ku lele

not: YOU ku lele... Because you play it so well thought you might want to know. Thanks again! Keep it up!

  • very difficult, by evidence of my frustration. fuckin awesome man.

  • your badass!!

  • Great lesson. Play mandoline myself. It's a different tuning.

Which tuning do you have on your uke?

  • hey, that was great, awsome lesson and I love this song, thanks a lot.

  • sounds awesome.. what kind of uku are you playing?..

  • Awesome stuff. I'm a long-time deadhead and a newbie uke player. It's taken me about a week to really get it down, but it's finally playing clean pretty reliably.

Thanks again, and if you know any more good Dead songs that sound good on the uke, please please bring them on. I can see I need to work on my right hand a bit, also.

  • The best advice I can give you about learning is, don't be afraid of making mistakes. In my version of Friend of the Devil, I made a mistake while playing; I accidentally played an extra note; a chord voicing, while strumming the Dm chord. It sounded pretty cool, so I kept it. Watch my pinky during the chorus and you might see what I mean.

  • i'm a beginner and learned the song in less than an hour.. thanks!

  • That's all a part of the service! Hey, give me the greatest tribute ever and post a video of yourself doing the song. I had someone do that with my Wonderful Tonight lesson and it was great!

Thanks for taking the time to comment!

  • i'll work on it..

  • Awsome! I can't wait.

  • i just tried to follow the link to the tabs and i got a message from my computer protection software....said that your site is used to steal credit card numbers. you might want to check this out. i liked the lesson.

  • Sorry!

I just clicked on the link and it went to the site w/ no problem. I only use basic anti-virus and anti-spyware on my machine, though so I couldn't tell you where the problem is.

  • how do you do that riff from Layla u did at the beginning?

  • !!!TABS!!!

I have tabs for this song! Follow the link in the "About This Video" section of the page.

  • sorry, whats the strum pattern when u play the G and the M min.

  • whats the strum pattern ur using?

  • You are a fantastic teacher, thanks for posting. To the point and no mumbo jumbo. Awesome!

  • Thanks friend, I liked it so much I learned it a few months ago from your original video. Play it all the time in my uke shop in Hawaii!

  • What a wonderful thought! Thanks for telling me. Maybe, someday, I'll look you up and we can duet on that song.

    Thanks for watching!

  • loving the layla at the start!!!

  • will you do Tears in heaven by eric clapton?

  • v=zyboGYX1BZk

There is a pretty good 'tutorial' for how to play Tears in Heaven on the ukulele at the above address. Just cut and paste this after the 'watch?' in the address bar and press the 'return' button on your keyboard and you are there.

    Thanks for watching!
