She had an amazing range. Listen to the high octave note at the end here and yet she could sing mellow low notes like on 'Crazy'. She will always be one of the greatest female country vocalists that ever lived, no doubt.
WOW...she is sooooooooooo very sweet here, effortlessly pours out angel tones,
filled with passion and nails that last pure note. My wife is from across the globe
and she says that the old American country music is the most passionate heartfelt music ever made. Patsy and Hank Sr. are her favs. .....surprize....she's 28 and black, just goes to show how great music transends time and trends
There is another version on here of Patsy doing this song. if you think this is good you haven't seen the other one. Do yourself a favour and listen to it.
I cannot watch this without crying and I am seventy years old and should be over it. What a talent, what a loss. If there is a god and heaven I hope you are there Patsy.
Just read her biography, what a big loss for such a talented lady...I bow my hat to her...she's got that nice voice, a good 'ol country accent, I really liked it...may her soul rests well...
Great performance by Patsy of one of Hank Williams's classics! There's never been and never will be another Patsy, those of us who love her still miss her!
OMG! I am totally in love! Patsy you left us early because God needed perfection and he loaned you to us for a brief moment of time. Thank you for sharing your incredible voice. You enriched us all.
Went north again this summer and stopped in Winchester and saw Patsy's final resting place.....and Staunton ..... and went by and picked up a book and some shirts at the Statler Brothers HQ. I'm not a spooky type person, but going to Patsy's grave (At 6 pm when they play the bells..) is "different". RIP Patsy (And Cowboy Copas and ol' Hawkshaw Hawkins) I know she had bigger hits..a LOT bigger......but this is my favorite. GREAT Clip Crazy4!
I think there is some confusion here. Patsy performed "Lovesick Blues" on the "Prince Albert" portion of the Grand Ole Opry on April 2, 1960. This is NOT that performance. This is the Jamboree performance circa 1955.
Another phenomenal performance! He voice is so strong and crystal clear. She said she had a bout of rheumatic fever when she was thirteen. She said, "The fever affected my throat and when I recovered I had this booming voice like Kate Smith's".
~there she is! not one singer today can touch this talent! Just walk out and make the angels blush with that beautiful voice! Makes me want to get to Heaven sooner to get to Patsys Biggest Concert! Meet me in the Front Row!
WHAT A TALENT!!! Patsy was one of the most versatile singers this earth has ever seen. Yodeling is incredibly hard (try it sometime). Her range is unbelievable too. Her final note in this song blows you out of the water so obviously her range is far greater than she's been dubbed (as a contralto). In either case she was a MEGA TALENT and there is no one today who can touch her. She was truly blessed with an incredible talent and thank God she shared it with us.
Agree 1,000% with you Intel!!! I've been to Patsy's grave...we're both born in Virginia, both in September..."Sweet Dreams," still to this day, tears me up...I'm not thinking about any personal memory...just Patsy's performance...
That yoddeling gives me goosebumps-its so perfect!! Love this song. I loved when she did yoddeling in the songs. I wish she hadn't been taken so soon.
Although Patsy is in a class of her own and my all-time favorite, my own personal opinion is that Leanne Rimes comes closest to Patsy. She also has fabulous vocal control, an unbelievable range and can yodel with the best of them.
I love Leanne, but I really think she lost a lot of her range that was so close to Patsy's; unfortunately that happens with puberty and adulthood to a lot of great voices. Billy Gillman for instance.
@TitanicTarn1968 Ronee Blakley is the only singer I have ever heard who can come close to the Cline. But really, Patsy was Patsy. Never will be another.
I think you are absolutely right. Ronee Blakely was and is a brilliant singer and deserved her oscar nomination for NASHVILLE in 1975. I take my hat off to her but there can only be one Patsy Cline.
Legend. Reminds me of my Dad. RIP Kilb. Love you mate. Just taking a trip down memory lane. Hats off to everyone. Peace out !!!!!!
