  • hey i got a banana tree 1.29.11 the stem is covered with a brown husk like not green but i can tell there is a green stalk under the brown. would you suggest taking off the brown husk or leaving it alone. it is about 18 inches tall with one leaf and about big as a fist on bottom and big as a nickle on top

  • youre not supposed to fertalize that much. it will burn them! i water mine every two to four days when the begin to dry. i fertalize mine about once a month with that same fertalizer maybe twice but i FOLLOW the serving amount on the back please reply back to me!

  • to small pot

  • awesome u like my dad at the m grow lol

  • @RockNRococo because the root is still alive even tho the plant is dead the root will continue and immediately sprout new trees to keep it alive

  • you get any bananas yet?

  • Good info. and neat to see you are into this exotic plant hobby at a young ago. I have been growing those Musa basjoo outdoors since 1989.

  • Very cool that you are into this hobby at your age... I didn't really get into it until my mid twenties or so, (like 4 years ago)... but either way, excellent work man! I enjoy your vids... I'm in zone 6 as well, southern Indiana... I've done musa basjoo for 5 years now, and this year I've got 2 windmill palms (3'), 1 needle palm, 1 chinese fan palm, and some cold hardy cactus varieties. I've got a couple crape myrtles on the way. We'll see how those do... Southern Magnolia is next! Good luck!

  • thanks dude. Hope you can collect the actual fruit one day.

  • What do you do with the plant in harsh winter of ohio? Just curiosity.

  • if they are in the ground, they have mulch piled about 3 feet around them, and 2 feet high. but the potted ones sit in my basement with almost no light, and they get watered about once a month untill spring (late april- mid march)

  • omg ur my cousin lol uve changed your backyard so much

  • Hey Luke: Next time you go out of town, try inserting a feeding bottle or a slow dripping hose. I also found this gell stuff you can use for vacation purposes. I will show it on my next program. Awesome video! GAiL
