  • How the fuck is this crap is in the top 10 most scarey movies of all times almost in every top ten list?

  • The film is no big deal, I thought. But interpretation of the actress Catherine Deneuve surpasses the movie.

  • an artistic achievement, yes, but a deadly slow picture.

  • such an awesome movie!

  • can you please Explain this FIlm to me?

  • Repulsion is a great example of how the create suspense on a psychological level.

Adam Green's films always have the best extra features. You can tell he learned a lot that way before he made his break-through film.

Films like this inspired the new thriller "Web-Cam" you can see the trailers on this channel: webcamthemovie1

Gessica, who works as a cam-girl is pushed to the limit when held hostage by an unknown gunman.

  • "The nightmare world of her sensual fantasies"? People were really scared of sex back in the day, huh?

  • Id watch it if it was a porno.

  • At last! I just found the score for this on a Harkit Records CD by Chico Hamilton!

  • if someone knows whats the song playing in this trailer please let me know

  • I love this film but LOL at the voiceover for the trailer. I keep waiting for him to say LOUD NOISES.

  • watching it right now and it seems very nice... Catherine IS SO BEAUTIFUL!!

  • this has a 100% rating on rotten tomatoes.

  • Black Swan borrowed heavily from Repulsion.............Sexually repressed woman hallucianates and goes over the edge. Black Swan was a kind of mash up of The Red Shoes and Repulsion......

  • Somebody please upload the whole movie! :)

  • @paczusia

Go to "domino19x" channel and you can see this entire excellent film! :)

  • @Babyhowdy233 Thanks ;)

  • Come on, this trailer shows too much!!

  • I don't know why, but I didn't like this film. Saw it in college during a Roman Polanski film marathon, and it gave me a headache and everyone looked dirty and unclean. I know this was supposed to be a good movie, but to this day, I can't look at it without getting a headache. Perhaps its pychological powerfulness is just too much for me & gives me a headache.I didn't care for Knife in the Water, either. I guess I like some of his others better.JMHO, folks, don't get angry.

  • @ProudKansan08

It could be the horrid soundtrack. It's a great film, but I swear it has one of the WORST soundtracks of any film I've ever seen.

  • @Babyhowdy233 thank you for your opinion, it really means a lot (sarcastically)

  • @bsm6776

And thank you for your polite, intelligent and wholly necessary reply (sarcastically)!

  • @Babyhowdy233, that could be why it gives me headaches. Never thought of that. Thanks, baby. :)

  • @Babyhowdy233, you are right. Its about the worst I've, too.

  • this trailer really gives away a lot.

  • Nothing better than psychological horror to me. Nothing compares. I wait and wait year after year for something new to come out that isn't a slasher horror film and get nothing. This movie was brilliant. About the only thing I can think of recently that gave me the same kind of feeling as these B&W "thrillers" was Black Swan. In fact it actually reminded me of THIS movie quite a bit I think.

  • @Reip187 Have you seen Apartment Zero with Colin Firth or Sharon Stone in Scissors. You might like them.

  • @launwatch Thanks for the recs. I have not seen either one I don't believe, but the Sharon Stone one sounds familiar. I will try and remember to look for these next time I'm browsing for movies :).

  • polanski does it to you again and again check out the tenant too

  • holy cymbals.. my ears!

  • this on criterion is beautiful.

  • amazing trailer, spoiler after spoiler

  • I'm seeing this at a Retro Film Club showing soon :D it's gonna be great!

  • I really believe Polanski opened bad Ju Ju and it overflowed to 9/08/69

  • @drewster1118 Whatever you've just opened... Well, too late, I guess.

  • I loved this movie, but then I live almost every movie Roman Polanski ever made. He is creepy as a private person, but he knows how to make films.

  • This was one of the scariest films I have ever seen, especially the nightmarish scene where the hands are coming through the...oh, sorry. I don't want to give away any surprises.

  • @SAndrew111 wall

  • This is the anti-spielberg... I must admit that...this movie is potentially more disturbing for children than an hardcore porn movie.

I just saw it 2 hours ago... and it's maybe the saddest movie that i ever saw...

Today's where are those kind of movies? who goes straight to the bones and straight into the dark side of the soul... it's so freaky... i mean... it's so anti mtv ...antifake...it's so naked

This movie made a real good pair with "The Story of Adele H" de Fraçois Truffaut (1975)

  • If the man wasn't a victim at the time of the rape, understandable. But by god if he isn't one now.

  • @InvertedBomber You have a lot of common sense, have to give you that. Especially, considering your age. Just so that you know, Samantha Geihmer forgave him right THEN. B/c there was consensual sex (and drug use), which made Polanski's crime a 'statutory rape'. And you're so right, the 90 days 'psychiatric observation' was supposed to be the whole sentence. It was an agreement also the prosecutor signed (somehow THIS part wasn't sent by LA Distr Attorney to the Swiss... authorities, whatever.

  • 76 years old? What in the hell could he do? It's not like he'd have the stamina any longer. And the woman even forgave him. A long time ago. Publicly. And she was the one who was raped! Even she doesn't see why they continue the case. In my opinion I don't either. It's like whipping a dead dog. What are you going to get out of it? And don't say justice. It's not justice if the person who loathed him forgave him and no longer requires justice. It's just a waste of effort.

  • n, be shocked to find out that the judge had actually sentenced you to a longer period of time in the place. Wouldn't you run? And don't give me the whole "I am an upholder of the law, and would follow it even if it means jail time" crap. I am pretty sure when it comes down to it, everyone. Everyone. Would run. And on top of the the man's like what?

  • So I think I am going to get in on this whole Polanski thing. Now as for the man who claims that Polanski doesn't deserve to be freed, chew on this. First having your wife killed by a group of deranged LSD fueled hippies would probably mess you up a little bit don't you think? On top of that during his trial the judge aloud him 90 days of psychiatric evaluation in a prison with the though that he would be put on probation. Now wouldn't you, having just gotten out of a god awful place like priso

  • fact and fantasy are fused in a frantic fury of tongue twisting terror!

  • Repulsion is a masterpiece and you're all talking about sex and pedophilia?

    *sigh*

  • one of the best movies i have ever watched, it's just one of those horror movies that really make sense and is in fact very deep and frightening.. just like Rosemary's Baby!

  • Looks fucking terrible this.

  • @WelcomebackEm Actually, it's a brilliant film. This voice over script here is just dreadful crap. Seriously. Give the film a try first.

  • i couldn't watch the whole movie, it was so creepy

  • ..another good one to check out is the movie "Dementia" (no not Dementia 13). It's about a girl that goes bonkers and paranoid!

  • One of THE most beautiful women of ll time!!

  • Watch Sidney Lumet's The Pawnbroker. Rod Steiger, 1965. One of the last black and white movies when monochrome was the thing in English language cinema.

  • possibly my favorite film ever.

  • Anyone notice all the Ill uminati symbolism in this?! Not that I expect any different from Polanski

  • there is no thing such as the "illuminati" stupid.

  • @KiittyCupcake Sorry, but you're wrong. Bavarian Illuminati, an Enlightenment-era secret society founded on May 1, 1776. by Adam Weishaupt.

  • Freedom to Roman Polanski!!!

  • I hope you're joking

  • @Pmitsou123 freedom to a rapist? get real!

  • @Mikes66442 Before you tell someone to get rea get your facts straight, (another) ignorant Yankee...

  • @PrZemek44 My facts are straight you Pollack. Or are you a pedophile yourself?

  • @Mikes66442 Pedophile? Coming from you? Isn’t your ‘greatest nation in the world’ this world’s undisputable leader in crime and statistics for pervs? (Rhetorical question)

As you should know, it's not about what happened but your justice system (best in the world, isn't it?) The judge was a joke, got finally kicked off the case, on appeal of both, the attorney and PROSECUTOR (who said that he'd done the same! As Polanski).

Your turn. Don't disappoint us, best... whatever you are... in the world

  • Comment removed

  • @PrZemek44 Yes my country is so bad everyone wants to be here. I don't see a long line of people wanting to get into Poland. And Polanski is soooo innocent that's why he ran from here. LOL!!

  • @Mikes66442 Woah, you're what, 12? I hope just dyslexic. Again, the PROSECUTOR said he’d done the same, meaning run. Oh, and we don't have a Cuba or Mexico over there. Besides, there are no boarders in EU (how would you know that?)

And for other sanctimonous Yankees, who know zip but have an opinion (typical), if he killed the poor girl, it's IRRELEVANT! What that judge did was something even the (US!) prosecutor said he never saw before. Polanski got SCREWED. Period..

  • @Mikes66442 Plus, she was 14 (- a week), had sex and did drugs before. THEY did drugs and had consensual sex. That’s why he was so shocked (not b/c it’s ‘normal in Poland’, you daughter fuckers!).

He had sex with many other young girls. (No complains? ONE? From 1982? Any progress?) She didn’t want him to go to jail for a day. A ’victim’ SO forgiving? Your Yankee actors did things like rape with a bottle and - no jail time. Enough?

If any of you plans to answer, ARGUMENTS pls! Not juvenile bull

  • @PrZemek44 So he admits (as do you) to having sex AND doing drugs with an underage girl. That's statutory rape in this country, maybe yours too I don't know. Judging by your comments it must be OK. "Consensual" sex with a 14 year old is RAPE no matter how you try to white-wash it. He's an adult and should know better by now. And he is also a fugitive from justice. Our system may not be perfect but its failures has nothing to do with me. So your personal attacks are, as you say, juvenile bull

  • @Mikes66442 Yes, and he was charged with 'statutory rape'. Do you know ANY-thing about the case? He served his time. And (sorry, Mr 'Dyslexic at Best') haven't I said TWICE that the judge got kicked off the case? So all you're saying is IRRELEVANT? Even if he killed 10 girls, he'd be still a VICTIM here?

Again. you're obviously beyond slow, I'm wasting my time for all other (mostly Americans) morons like you, maybe at least SOME get SOME-thing. Good luck

  • @Mikes66442 Dude Polish people are repatriating from the States in record numbers? Why? because we are screwed with the economic burden of two wars for 10 years, real estate market collapsed, more tax cuts for the rich. There will be a whol lot more people in the world learning Chinese and trying to get to India or elsewhere cause why tolerate a bunch of bible thumping warmongering know-it-alls if you don't have too. The rest of the world is slowly making us irrelevant. Believe it or not.

  • My friends said this film was "lame" and "boring" but I found it highly disturbing. Only because things like this could really happen in the mind of someone slipping into psychosis. And they believe it. What shocked me was that the girl in the film was absolutely beautiful. I guess you'll never know whats really going on inside someones head until they snap completely. I think everyone is vulnerable to this state of mind at some point or another. Also, I completely agree with Guildx700.

  • It was bit sceary ardly tha nu nightmere on elm st tho .

  • вид пророщенного картофеля в этом фильме испугал моего знакомого, выросшего в белоруссии

  • 9.5/10

Wonderful suspenseful piece of art. It's a beauty and one of the few 'horrorific' films I've seen.

  • this was the most intense movie i've ever seen, quite possible most intense movie ever. not exactly scary, but so shocking you cant bring yourself to turn it off. so horrifying you want to turn if off the entire time you're watching, yet so good you want to watch it again right after you're done

  • The person who edited this trailer definitely had an obsesion with cymbals!!!

  • @ElTuco84 HAHAHA SO TRUE. YOURE AWESOME!

  • @ElTuco84 cymbal crashes are throughout the entire move

  • @bsm6776

That and the most monotonous, unimaginative drum beat. It's a great movie but seriously has one of the worst soundtracks of any film I've seen in my 55 years!

  • @ElTuco84 And what do you imagine that cymbalises ? Ouch !

  • I watched this film last night. 10 out of 10. Totally first rate.

  • Saw the movie and couldn't move from my seat the whole time on dvd. It was just too insane. But gotta admit good.

  • Roman Polański is awesome director, and this film is awesome too. It was something different than movies that we have now.

  • Does anyone remember that when `REPULSION' and `DARLING' were released in 1965, that most theatres (at least in the NYC area) designated these films`For Adults Only'?

To me, the two-second hallucinattion of the construction worker in Carol's mirror in `REPULSION' is alone worth the price of admission.

See this movie in its entirety if you can: I think the way that it meticulously documents a woman's descent into psychosis makes it one of the most frightening movies ever made.

  • Some folks these days don't "get" shocking.

It's not about splatter, gore and detail in vivid color, it's getting in your mind, leaving you feeling a bit sick and with that horribly uneasy feeling.

This movie has the power to do that.

Simple, basic, crude, not much gore but VERY frightening on an unusual level nonetheless.

  • Well said, I agree 100%

  • @guildx700, I had the good fortune of watching it during a Catherine Deneuve Festival. It was amazing, the cast was excellent and the mind bending chills way ahead of their time. Nothing done today comes close, Paranormal Activity tries but fails miserably along with the pack of the rest of them. Black Swam is close enough, but only by the masterpiece performance of Portman. Deneuve, is amazing in this film, so raw and powerful is the story that every little detail of every scene tells a lot.

  • Sublime

  • this movie was so good that i was scared to finish the rest!

  • one of the greatest movies ever made

  • Repulsion = the beauty and the beasts

  • Master Piece

  • Im sure it was shocking for its day.

  • this trailer is full of spolier. im happy i didnt see it before i saw the move :) i think there should be some alert...

  • Deneuve is so fantastic.

I love the scene where she walks on the street with empty eyes, completely irritated.

    Great!!!

  • This film is so powerful and fascinating, I still can't imagine how they even made it. The trailer can't show how creepy and tense the film is. One of the best psychological thrillers ever!.

  • Lol 1:15.....

  • Catherine's accent is damn sexy in this movie.

  • fantastic polski/brit colab, Polankis was golden boy until charlie manson got hold of Sharon tate, so the press/print used this as a a flakey rationale for the targetting by disenfranchised Lsd fuelled loonies

  • are there any similar movies to this one???

  • yea. its called the little mermaid.

  • nice

  • Breakfast club.

  • Watch a young Catherine Deneuve lock herself in an apartment and slowly lose her mind.

Hell, I could watch a young Catherine Deneuve pick her nose. And eat her boogers.

  • Let me go back in time 40 years and I'd be happy with either of them.

  • you are very nice love

  • Hahahah!!!! That's a joke!!!hahahahah!! Very goood!!!!

Wake up please, Cath has THE ULTIMATE BEAUTY!!! She is 1000 times better and more beautiful than Bardot.. Bardot WAS just a sexy woman, a cute little cat and she IS awful now... Catherine had a pure beauty, an elegant style and she is still very pretty... C.D 4EVER!

  • @Ifigeneiapap You can't compare. Catherine had an ice queen elegant beauty. Bardot had a sultry sex kitten beauty. I have to say I like both but am partial to Bardot, because quite frankly the woman revolutionized fashion and had the most unique face I've ever seen. And fyi, Catherine has had numerous plastic surgery procedures over the years while Bardot has had NONE! Bardot was a wild natural child and still is natural today.

  • @astraiiia

    I agree completely!

  • @Ifigeneiapap

Deneuve had (and still has) VERY skinny legs and is almost flat-chested, plus her lips are rather thin, whereas literally every feature of Bardot in her prime was sheer perfection. However, I agree that Deneuve was a better actress.

  • "The Pianist" is great! :)

  • the scariest movie from the 60's. Wayyy scarier than that Night of the Living Dead that became funny because of it's bad special effects...

  • no, there´s another, not from Roman Polanski, it´s from William Castle´s Strait-Jacket, the murder is Joan Crawford, it´s great too.

  • hectic

i cant totally understand the disturbing essence in this film; like fuckkk o.o

    x

  • Polanski's masterpiece. On of my all time top 15, along with Tenant (maybe not top 15 but..).

Polanski, Bergman, Melville, Fellini...Bunel...Kurosawa....creme de la creme.

Too bad nowdays people think - Uh, a old (B&W) movie - must be boring.

  • Can't forget Kubrick.

  • Yeah, he's got some good movies. But, somehow, for me, he does not fit those guys up there.

  • who narrates this trailor?- I've heard that voice before

  • He sounds familiar too.

  • see it. It's way scarier than it looks like.

  • i want to buy this film on dvd!!i got into roman polanski, after seeing the fearless vampire films.i bought the tenant in the summer,it was a strange but good movie!i got rosemary's baby for christmas-must watch it soon!

  • roman is a genious

  • Holy Cymbals!!!!
