  • Italian film: "Copacabana Palace" - 1963 -

    director: Steno.

    tchau.

  • WOW! I can't believe this - I have been a Luiz Bonfa fan since I first heard him in the 1960's. I've still got a vinyl album of his with a similar shot on the cover - Bonfa was simply extraordinary composer and (esp) musician. Thanks for this post.

  • so beautiful!!

  • Sensacional!

  • Sensacional!

  • Ah......Those were the days............

  • what song are they playing? it sounds beautiful! Does anyone know the name of the song, and who wrote it?

  • Canção do Mar, lyrics by Bonfá (probably).

  • The song is in the album "Recado Novo" by Luiz Bonfa'

  • Is this clip taken from a film?

    Anybody knows what film?

  • Its from the movie "Copacabana Palace" - 1962 film starring Sylvia Koscina. Also translated as "The Girl Game" and "Saga of the Flying Hostesses" - kind of a romantic caper. Its an ok film, but well known for lot of Bossa Nova music, including cameos by Jobim, Bonfa, Gilberto and others. As far as I can tell, it hasn't been released on DVD, so maybe try to find a VHS copy somewhere.

  • Thanx~

  • fantastic

  • but the music was cool.(they would've changed the script)Or finished the music. THEN yell.

  • obrigado loronix y zecalouro

  • denada...

  • thank you so much for this wonderful video

  • Meg, this is 4 for u!

Please listen to this if yur here

Valeu Tom, valeu Joao.

  • Classic. The strings must be under another umbrella eh? (eh? eh?) BTW, the guys are sitting, in order: Luiz Bonfa, Joao Gilberto (Astrud's ex)and the dreamboat genius who knows it takes less than six people to reel in a fish is Antonio Carlos Jobim.

  • Funny that you called Joao as Astrud's ex. Usually, people say the other way aroud. Astrud as Joao's ex.

  • Gloria Paul is the most beautiful

  • What is thee name of that song Bonfa is singing? I love it. I always try to song it. Please tell me what is the name of the song.

  • the name of the song is "Canção do Mar"

  • the name of the song is "Canção do Mar"

  • Thank you

    Obrigado!

  • é massa esse filme

  • "guardate ragazzi ha abboccato!" està en italiano! :)

  • :-)))

    Maravilha !

    From the movie "Copacabana Palace".

Bonfá, Gilberto, Tom, from left to right.

  • o bope chegou e avacalhou o luau da rapeize hahaha

  • isso é um presente, obrigado por compartilhar.

  • This is a scene from the the italian/brazillian co-produced movie called Copacabana Palace aka The Girl Game aka The Saga of the Flying Hostesses, from 1962. Althoug it's a good example of eropean cinema form the early 60's, it's quite important for being a document on the bossa nova movement, with soundtrack from Tom Jobi an some special apperances of himself, Joao Gilberto, Bonfa, Nora Bengell and Cyl Farney. Try to find it, I thik you will like

  • the first one is Luiz Bonfa; the second is Joao Gilberto e the last one is Jobim

  • Nice video, I think it was really hard fiding it. I don't why Tom was wearing those jeans, If it was fashion in that time i don't know. Anyway it's odd.

  • I love Tom's hair - he had all that hair right up to the end!!!!!

  • what song is this? which guy is bonfa, which jobim, and which gilberto? thanks for great clip

  • Probably first guy playing guitar is João Gilberto, The second is Bonfa, (I got no idea who is he, though) and last one wearing jeans is Jobim.

  • the first is Bonfa you dumbass

  • Rio should be heaven those days

  • Where did you find this? Of course it's overdubbed in the studio, you can't record sound on a beach. But who cares? This is an incredible scene of the 3 giants of Bossa Nova sitting on a beach, playing their guitars, singing, and so young! WOW!

  • not only is the music beautiful, the scenery is heart-palpitating

  • yeah lufelima you are completely rigth about that...

  • Bossa Nova Beach Party starring Frankie & Annette

  • Ah,como o mundo já foi melhor...

  • LOL, I was gonna say...

  • Although the movie is Called Copacabana Palace, the guys are either in Leblonte or Ipanema beach, because you can see on the background the "duck tails", which are in those beaches (not in the Copacabana beach). Anyway... great video post, muito Obrigado!!!

  • This is not Ipanema or Leblon. You can clearly see Gávea's Rock on the background and the islands are in a different position. By the position of Gavea's Rock, the islands in front and the way the beach is completly empty, I can assure you that this is Barra da Tijuca beach before that region had been urbanized.

  • gee, this sylvia kosina was a real beauty. it is strange to talk like that, but is this wonder still alive? the genious jobim is dead. so young. pitty.

  • No, she died in the mid 1990s.

  • beautiful music - but you realize they're lip syncing - it was recorded in a studio...

  • The three together, wow. Jobim is so handsome!

  • I can bet you he was handsome. by now he is a lot of earth, bones and hairs. lol

  • right...sorry

  • the name of the movie is: Copacabana Palace (1962) Directed by

    Steno

    Writing credits

    Sergio Amidei

    Jorge Dória (story)

  • was already said...

  • the movie is Copacabana Palace

  • cara viagem esse video...ow mine

  • que espetáculo. nunca pensei ver coisa tão maravilhosa. o joão gilberto sempre o Gênio Maior. E que saudade do Tom.

  • Great.

  • sexy

  • The three actresses are: Sylva Koscina (with Jobim), Gloria Paul (english actress who worked in Italy a long time, with Joao), and (perhaps...) Mylene Demongeot (french actress, with Bonfa).

  • Friends, this rarity is a scene from an italian film "Copacabana Palace", whose diretor was a good italian diretor called Steno (alias Stefano Vanzina).

  • tu l'as dis bouffi!!!!

  • This clip is from the movie "Copacabana Palace (1962)" It is very interesting to see Tom, Joao, and Bonfa together.

  • Wow! Bonfá, Gilberto and Jobim together in a movie?

  • what the fuck.

    beatiful pinup girls.

  • chicks are 50's hot/50's cool.

  • O "Mr G" ja viu esses seus videos? Sou roomate dele mas to voltando pro Rio semana que vem.

  • Fantastic!

  • COOL!

  • Thanks for uploading this scene

    *My soul still lives there...*

  • Not Sylvia but Sylva Koscina! Yeah, looks like her.

  • Lovely clip, I can't believe how young Joao looks. I must say the actresses are absolutely gorgeous as well.

  • Nice music from nicer times. Copacabana Palace

certainly looks like a strong conteder if you

look it up on IMDB. I need to find the copy of

    that move.

  • cool vintage treasure

  • What a great clip! I want to see more!

  • Tom Jobim was so handsome, that is wow.

  • I've seen this one before, but the copy I saw was shorter and of poorer image quality. I thought it was from "Copacabana Palace" ('62), but I'm not sure. I believe the woman to Jobim's right was the well-known actress Sylvia Koscina. Anyway, this is fun... too bad it was so brief.

  • I looked up Joao Gilberto's filmography on imdb.com, and this clip could be from either "Pista de Grama"(1958) or "Copacabana Palace" (1962)

  • Uou!! Incredible!!
