Great! Been watching a few of these vids on u-tube.its great that people aren't scared ti do this.hat off to you.I def doing a 4/12 and a 2/12 in the future.has anyone really tried over doing it with with the wood.I.e uber thick.does it pay off
Nice job. One suggestion to anyone copying or to original poster. Make the speakers rear loading. The way they are now, you have to remove the front panel and then remove the fabric to make a speaker swap.
NICE!!! Thats one thing every musician outta do atleast once...build your own cab, amp, g'tar...I built me own cab @ age 17 all cuz I was cash strapped. It came out good if not great. By the way, how do the Rockets sound??? They any good???
@4142Wilb I agree Good Work!!! I have just completed a 2x10" cab and found the whole thing very satisfying from designing, making to playing. I also think the rear loading of the speaker is valid if you are going to push your speaker to the limits. But for general use probably not an issue. The one thing I did when designing was to check the dimensions of commercial cabs using the configuration I had chosen and then average them out to determine my cab size
man looks really sick. now i saw on a 2X12 combo that they used a saw tooth method. does that work for a 4 X 12 idea? and how big did you make your mounting holes for your 12 inch speakers?
great project mate, very impressive, wish i had the gear and the patience to do this, this johnnymac guy what is his problem? I wonder if his parents may have beaten him? if not perhaps they should have cos he is pretty hateful and I cant see any reason why, poor guy.
Great job on the sweet cab:) but how do you setup the speakers and stuff inside the cab?? I mean like when you plug the head amp into an already made cab you can play instantly, but how do you setup the wires and plugins?
well i would have gone all black but thats a personal choice... as for that red, black, and white striped guitar in the corner...... you should get rid of it.
It's funny how you keep wanting and asking a whole lot of guys to suck your balls, really gay mate. And just for future refrence, no I will not suck your balls.
I think this cab came out beautiful. Hopefully it sounds as nice as it looks. I am also using some Rocket 50's to replace some old speakers in some of my lower-volume cabs. Not sure how thrilled I am with them, but they were inexpensive and I don't gig with them. Great for practice. Hope yours is making you happy still.
@johnnymac1986- Why is your response always the same? Did you ever receive a formal education or were you only on the receiving end of a dick? That's rhetorical of course. I suppose now you'll tell me to "lick your balls" or some other dumb shit dick response. You work in a wood shop and this guy doesn't. That gives you less of a reason to bag on him for it and only further exposes you as a dick bag. Go ahead, we are all awaiting your dick bag response involving your balls:)
does it matter what type of speakers u use cos im after doing a video on how to build this stuff on mega cheap and a 12 inch 4ohm car speaker is $24 would that be ok or is that a bad idea
Good jobs!.Nice .. But I didnt like the color..Why do BITCH's Fight on the internet?...Low Lifes! Pinche pendejos..hablando cosas atras del el internet..Maricones.
Nice job...but OOOOOPS!! I see a problem. You've mounted the speakers through the front of the speaker baffle and then covered the baffle with the grill cloth. If you should blow a speaker you have to take the grill cloth off in order to remove the speaker. Cabs with front mounted speakers have a removable grill cloth frame to which the grill cloth is attached. That way you an remove the frame to get to the speakers. With rear mounted speakers it's OK to mount the grill cloth to the baffle
That's pretty impressive dude. Mad props for making a one off cab. I would love to do that for my Orange. Being that the orange cabs are like 1100 dollars, being able to build my own and replicate it would be nice and probably way cheaper. Very nice man.

@johnnymac1986 wow you are a hater huh?..give the man props for building his own stuff!..ofcourse we ain't perfect but you learn from it!..and hmm I'm guessing your 24years old!..I could tell you still a rockie I don't care how much of a pro you say you are but your age says it all! @xxsurcentralxx yea he sounds like a noob. at the same time though, age doesnt necessarily prove that he is a rookie. experience can be gained at any age. while it is true that most ppl our age are pretty dumb and cocky, i believe that a young person with a good head on their shoulders and some basic common sense can achieve a lot with the whole music thing in general. tone and aesthetics are subjective, besides i dont see any of johnnymac's videos on here so he apparently just talks shit...

pretty nice, looks decent. i personally would have added bracing internally and made all corners 45 deg. so to have no right angles and jointed the ens together for structure/quality, but as for an extremely low cost efficient cab kudos and nice work!
AT FIRST I WAS LIKE ,OH SHIT THIS DOESNT LOOK GOOD !!! very nice finished product though,im impressed, did you research any baffling or how to brace the back board with a 2x2 to eliminate any hollow sounds and vibrations?i wouldn't mind doing this but i want an angled cabinet and want to actually IMPROVE on what marshall has done and not go overboard but make it stronger, did you use corner bracing and biskit joints or not?
Any 1 that has viewed this Can Tell Me ! where can i order the input jacks like the ones used on this vid two input or if any one knows who sells the 3 input jack on the back of some cabs ive seen PLEASE HELP thank you
Hi i like the look of the cab you made! known someone who had the the deal but anyways where did you get the input jacks too the back of the cab. ?can u post here or if any one else can help im in nj Thank U
@Diesel2106 plug the speakers either into a guitar amplifier or a stereo but make sure the speakers match the impedance on your amp or stereo, many are 8 om so you would want to try asnd get 8 ohm speakers but just check your equipment outputs,ok bud ?
@johnnymac1986 Just because you use nice materials doesn't mean that the final product is going to be great. I decided to call you out specifically because you were being a straight up dick to the video uploader for no good reason. So what if he took a half-year or 2 days to make his cabinet, that shit is irrelevant. Just comment on his work and try not to be such a douche.
@johnnymac1986 Typical response from a immature little fucker such as yourself. Thank goodness you are afforded the anonymity the internet provides so you are saved from getting terrorized by dudes that most certainly would expose you for the weak male you are...BITCH.
@johnnymac1986 And if you knew your ass from a hole in the ground, you'd realize that the best guitar cabs are XF (cross-firing, because i know you're a dumbfuck) and directional long-throw cabs. And did I mention that you are like a 1-in-a-million, grade A Douche Fag?
Please tell me that you didn't use that heavy partical board crap for your cab!!!!!! That stuff weighs a ton per SQ. Ft. I use 11 ply birch plywood. It's strong, dense enough so it doesn't absorb too much of the sound waves, and it's a hell of a lot lighter.
Awesome cab! Just needs your own custom logo! I wish the vid was a little more detailed though, like what materials you used (is that MDF?) what adhesive was used for the leatherette, why you front-mounted the speakers instead of the traditional rear mount, what gauge wire was used, is that a CHROME GUITAR!?!?!? Great job, man!
@araymark the wire isnt extremely important, just use a decent 18,16 or 12 gauge wire and go red to red(or white to white) and black to black, you can also either use clips that will slide over the speaker terminals so its removable or solder them directly on which is said to be better but is messier and harder to do for the average person.
any hardware store or an electronics department of an automotive or stereo store would have all of the things you need
Mkay so I'm building my first cab next week and I have a question, is putting tolex on just like putting on wall paper? Like you first put some glue down then wrap it and push out all the air bubbles?
A smaller cabinet for those size speakers I think is a GOOD thing. Reason why is because BIGGER cabinets give off too much RESSONANCE. Bigger speakers sound kind of BASSY sometimes, so a form of "PADDING or PILLOWING" like one does a BASS DRUM will help prevent that from happening. Great Job. You should put your logo on the cab. It's unique.
4x10 cab. way to big, 4x12 cab. way to small.end product looks good though, ive been contemplating building one for a few years. dont know what speakers to get. how much did this one cost?? what wood type did you use? solid or ply
I like the Guitar in your video. But I think your cabinet is too small for the Speakers. Conflict of sound and all that. But you did a very fine job. I am sure Jim Marshell would consider you for his Plant.
Great amp man is there any possibility of you being able to send me any specs you have and the websites of where you ordered the other bits from as I'm looking into making my own cab? That be great thanks and that amp looks awesome
Awesome! but you should of angled the 2 top speakers upwards more, that way if you perform on stage with it, the sound will go more to your ears and less in the crowd, the sound man will like you more!
what did you pay?

Mkay so I'm building my first cab next week and I have a question, is putting tolex on just like putting on wall paper? Like you first put some glue down then wrap it and push out all the air bubbles?

A smaller cabinet for those size speakers I think is a GOOD thing. Reason why is because BIGGER cabinets give off too much RESSONANCE. Bigger speakers sound kind of BASSY sometimes, so a form of "PADDING or PILLOWING" like one does a BASS DRUM will help prevent that from happening. Great Job. You should put your logo on the cab. It's unique.

I like the Guitar in your video. But I think your cabinet is too small for the Speakers. Conflict of sound and all that. But you did a very fine job. I am sure Jim Marshell would consider you for his Plant.

question what kind of sound will you get out of a box built like this if you crank music thru it would you have to port the box.
waylan3 2 years ago
dude... You should just cut a hole in your wall and insert the unit from 2:02... turn your whole house into the box...

Nice dude... :) I like the background track,too... What's the name of the song? I guess Satriani plays it,right?
cezudas 2 years ago
Awesome! but you should of angled the 2 top speakers upwards more, that way if you perform on stage with it, the sound will go more to your ears and less in the crowd, the sound man will like you more!
