Theres also a lot of equating the gay movement to the civil rights movement, and even though there are a lot of similarities, one: its not nearly as severe in terms of the nationwide hate black people faced and two: when you see gay people in media, theyre all white and there doesnt seem to be any black people leading the gay movement in the west

I think one reason there is such a thing as a gay community is because our society is so sexulized as it is. so much of what we see and hear has to do with sex, hetero sex yes, but sex nonetheless. In cultures that are conservative about sex, you don't see "gay" being the primary label for a person's identity. And I agree 100% gay rights isn't a civil rights issues like race-based issues. If you're black, there's no hiding/changing it.

they did not spend significant resources appealing to one specific population I don't think was out of neglect or lack of understanding, but out of lack of resources. To extend significant resources to a part of the population which is frankly not that significant I think would have just been stupid. The whole point of the campaign was to be inclusive, of all people, and the fact that Blacks were not in string support cannot merely be blamed on lack of outreach on the campaigns part.

Well then there should be more out African American gays. At least 10% of their population (or any other population on Earth) are gay so they could make a pretty defining movement. If it is the church that is keeping Afro American gays in the closet then we need to send a message to them that their religion shouldn't dictate their lives. An APA study wrongly & incompetently found that women (in general) do not experience significant emotional repercussions from abortion (s).The findings have been modified, but the point is that there were methodological flaws in the original studies.
