Umm no, it costs money because Microsoft wants to Jew every last penny they can out of everyone. Know why Windows Live is free? Because people started boycotting the fact that they had to pay for online multiplayer, something that SHOULD be free. I'm not a fan of either the 360 nor the PS3, both are terrible consoles that could've been far better, but PSN is extremely reliable compared to Xbox Live.
