  • Thunderf00t pwnd this bull all rady ROTFLMAO!

    Watch this link

    watch?v=uvprBLhJx_o

  • God meant, it was going to be 120 years til the flood. People lived long pre flood, because it was a different world than post flood.

  • oh this question is easy, BECAUSE ITS ALL MADE UP! seriously, most of you people are adults, please join the real world for a change and put down the big book of fairytales. also, the reason why we age is because of oxidation from the oxygen we breathe, it doesnt have shit to do with cosmic rays.

  • A series of bizarre assertions with no evidence whatsoever apart from the odd reference to the myths of a bronze-age tribe to back them up.

    Childish.

  • @revjimbob note how he says there is no precise biblical answer he is just offering ideas based on what the bible says

  • Another wild and crazy possibility is that Genesis is just a collection of old folktales.

  • Hesiod claimed that during the Golden Age under the rule of Cronos, humans lived for an incredibly long time and would not age past a certain point. They leisured in a garden and the fruit bloomed three times a year. This idea of a garden of eden or immortality is not unique to Christianity, or any religion.

In other words, in just about every culture, you'll find a time when humans were immortal, or lived longer. It's just our way with dealing with our own mortality.

  • when god made adam and eve is where i lost intrest

  • [58 dislikes]! ... I am sure the people were like:

"I WANT TO LIVE LONGER. This isn't a very helpful video. I want a more magical answer!"

    OR...

    "I am a secular prick"

  • @LampPlaceThing

Yea, that's exactly why people dislike this video.

Or.......maybe it's because this dimwit is literally making up this absolute rubbish.

    The stupid, it hurts....

And you are King of the Retards, congrats.

  • @LetReasonPrevail1 prick.

  • Its because the Atmosphere was sooo thick back in the ancient times so things GREW LARGER and LIVED longer.

Its more complicated scientifically but gives u a good idea, that God works in beautiful ways. we r the ones that r destroying our planet

  • How come if the Bible said no man will live longer than 120 years, do we have a small amount of people actually living surpass that age limit?

  • @sgal88 The Bible does not state that.. the verse in Genesis 6:3 is probably referring to it being 120 days until the flood, not that humans will not live longer then 120 years.

  • @colbybraden Or it is refering to living human years. Even this Protestant admits to it when he later speaks of the wickedness of men.

  • @sgal88 no there hasn't been anyone living past the age of 120 years old.... if u have evidence let me know where i can find it

  • @teshome0 Google it. It is not secret

  • the bit u first mentioned is called evolution...

  • "We don't know why the Bible says people lived longer than they clearly can, but we can offer some unsupported apologetic arguments to cover it up."

At least Slick has an idea of how evolution works. ^^ The problem is that "sins" are actions judged to be offensive to God, not genetic mutations which are written into our DNA.

  • The Mr. Perfect Matt Slick forced a woman he impregnated to get an abortion. He loves talking about it just ask him. What a wonderful thing for a Christian to do. Way to go Slickster!

  • @MrSupernova890 have you got more details or is that just a rumour?

  • @Iberotimuka I live in Boise, Idaho which is the same area Matt Slick lives in and where he has a radio show mon-fri. He is somewhat of a celebrity in this area at least in christian circles. I was told about the abortion from someone who knows him well. I was then told about and then listened to a podcast episode of his show where a caller asked him if it was true and he admitted it.

  • @Iberotimuka ah ok, thanks for sharing that mate, what a slip up, sexual temptation is so strong.

  • Except god created sin and let it flourish.

  • Silly, silly, silly. Surely you took some science classes in school. By your first "theory" life spans should be getting shorter and shorter. By your second "theory" all that water that was aloft should not be on the ground and we wouldn't be on dry land. Silly.

  • "Millions of generatioins" I thought you magician lovers believed that the world is onyl 6000 years old???

  • @MegaBigMerv only a select people believe that since there is no set date on how old the world actually is

  • "When God made Adam and Eve..."

    I've heard enough.

  • Your so-called explanation is meaningless. Whether believer or non-believer in this context is irrelevant. Genetics has absolutely nothing to do with faith. We physically expire for only one of three reasons; disease, physical harm due to accident or intent, or malfunction which cannot be corrected by medical technology. We have no way of knowing why lifespans were significantly longer for a time (if, fact, they were), or why they are shorter now. No current answer is available. That's all.

  • @JeffersonDinedAlone he said he can offer some ideas never said they were true.... pay attention wo/man

  • there were no diseases bak then to harm the humans back then

  • @YungBoi214 How do you know? Were you there?

  • Perhaps they lived so long because the ages are recorded incorrectly. I normally agree with this guy, but this entire video is a bunch of guess-work. The canopy theory--give me a break. He's losing serious credibility.

Instead of going on about outlandish theories like the canopy theory, just admit that you don't know.

  • Everything you said is utter gibberish and, largely, impossible according to the laws of physics (which I think you would agree were created by God). For example, the water canopy theory could not have happened. Even is we assume that there was a force that could keep the water in the "air," so to speak, no light would pass through it. If this layer were only 60 feet thick, the Earth would be in utter darkness. The bulk of the rest of what you said is not based on any science, either.

  • Since you obviously have no idea what you are talking about, you cannot be taken seriously.

  • In many fantasy books the protagonists and heroes live longer..

  • @DerEngelDesTodes Except that there is a lot of scientific basis for many things in the bible.

The bible mentions the earth being round long before sailboats.

  • @jarak36 You reference to Isaiah 40:22? "It is He who sits above the circle of the earth" with the hebrew "chug" meaning circle or sphere? It's a matter of interpretation. But Pythagoras and Platon wrote about spherical celestial bodies and calculated them. Good old church banished people with those scientific thoughts or even killed them. And I think sailboats hat been around some thousand years before christ, at least 1500. So "long before sailboats" isn't that correct.

  • @DerEngelDesTodes LOL, the old testament was before Christ, so that would make sense...

A church run by men has nothing to do with what is in the text, the bible does not say anything about banishing those with scientific thoughts, so your argument is invalid.

By sailboats I mean ocean-worthy vessels, which no, didn't exist. Most people used very low sitting rowing boats (galleys) in the Mediterranean and the viking longships could only travel in less fierce arctic waters.

  • @jarak36 Some therories state that there might have been ocean-worthy vessels in the antiquity and even before (see Dominique Görlitz and the Arbora-Expeditions). In the middle ages the Bible said "it is flat" (or at least those who interpreted it). Since science proved for even the most stubborn believer the earth to be round, now you interpret the Bible to have it all long predicted.. It's a matter of interpretation we see, we have to translate and interpret the original language into ours

  • Comment removed

  • @DerEngelDesTodes No, this false idea is not taught in Scripture. Is there any other way for Isaiah 40:22 to be interpreted that the earth is flat?

He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, and its people are like grasshoppers. He stretches out the heavens like a canopy, and spreads them out like a tent to live in.

There are more verses that describe a spherical earth that cannot be interpreted any other way.

When the Bible touches on scientific subjects, it is entirely accurate.

  • @RefinersFire298 The english translation is already an interpretation. And I don't see any reason to interpret your verse as a spherical earth. A circle is flat, and a canopy or tent can span over flat surfaces. This passage may describe the architecture of the Heavens (multilayered in this case, I guess), but not the Earth.

  • @RefinersFire298 The Hebrew word that is used in Isaiah 40:22 (חוּג, chug) does not at all imply a spherical earth. Ancient people were very good at observing the physical properties of the earth without necessarily understanding how all of those properties worked. The horizon of the earth is easily seen from any high vantage point or open area as an encompassing circle. This led ancient peoples to describe this "circle" or the horizon as the "edge" or "end" of the earth.

  • @DerEngelDesTodes the catholic church didn't even come around until long after christ. so pythagoras and platon would have had nothing to do with it.

  • Real questions we should be asking why don't people now live as long as people in the bible?

  • @tigerboyX because humans are a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy and so on.

  • @DiatonicSoul I always thought it had to do with the flood changing the enviroment which cost people lives to get shorter. Notice life span drop after the flood. It went from 900 to 600 then 400,200,175, until like 70. I think animals lived longer too. It would have probably been normole for a dog to live for 100 years.

  • Sin created death for humankind. And as humankind went further down with time, they sin more and more and they die faster and faster. Genesis 3:17 said that because they ate the fruit, not only they were cursed, but the EARTH is cursed as well. So basically we fall into a bottomless pit of short-livedness and sin, until Jesus came to save us & give us a chance. There were in the perfect world while we live in dirty environments & eat processed food.

Please stop assumming, sir. Hope it helped.

  • MY "natural inclination" is to live as long as possible too. Btw, what if you have a kid who doesn't inherit your weak heart condition and outlives you by 60 years, but then he has one who inherits it and dies after 20 years? Don't buy what this guy is saying, PLEASE. I love how he keeps saying "well, according to the theory..." He actually believes that people like Noah lived to be around 800 years old; now you know that's ridiculous, don't you?

  • @jerico641 Not ridiculous, there is nothing that would infer people can't live that long.

Think about all the chemicals we eat in our food, the increasing pollution that each generation endures.

Take a look at Genetic Entropy by J.C. Sanford, a famous geneticist.

  • @jarak36

Uh, no, I think that if I didn't trust my common sense enough, all I would need to do is check with any general medical practicioner who would comfirm that human beings have never had life spans of 800 years; I can't even believe I'm writing about this nonsense. Btw, consider the state of medical knowledge in society thousands of years ago; there might have been no industrial pollution, but they knew nothing about germs, communicable disease, heart and lung disease, etc. See? Think.

  • @jerico641 Actually they did know about germs, and the old testament lists instructions for keeping wounds clean and such.

You also have to acknowledge we are only shadows of what humans used to be, we are degrading due to massive amount of mutations we go through each generation. It's a scientific fact that our genetic information is degrading. Doctors aren't biologists, some might be physiologists, but not your general practitioner. Your doctor can't confirm shit because he wasn't there.

  • @jarak36

Oh, stop it; where in the damn bible does it give detailed instructions about how to clean wounds and more importantly, WHY they should be cleaned? That's just dumb. And what "massive mutations" are we going through? We've been coming out pretty much the same for over 100,000 years. Where do you get THAT information? And I'm pretty sure most physicians (and biologists) would agree on human life spans. Lastly, were YOU there to "confirm" anything? How old are you??

  • @jerico641 Do you think heart disease and even cancer was not as wide spread 200 years ago as it is today? North America, Australia and most of Europe all rank highest in cancer rates. researchers say as developing countries succeed in achieving lifestyles similar to Europe, North America, Australia, New Zealand and Japan, they will also encounter much higher cancer rates. I wonder how those rates would look after 50 years of people following the diet explained in the Bible.

  • No it doesn't help at all. It is all "made up stuff" and worrying how people can use the bible to get to these ideas.

  • Who the hell is this guy feeding us all this CRAP!?!?!?!?

We didn't ask to be born!! Why are we being punished for "SINS"???

  • makes sense. I like the first theory better. They ( adam & Eve) were fresh so they lived a long time, but they eventually did die because of sin.

  • Sorry for sidetracking but why did God make women marry forever anyone who raped them?DT22:28 " If a man is caught in the act of raping a young woman who is not engaged, he must pay fifty pieces of silver to her father. Then he must marry the young woman because he violated her, and he will never be allowed to divorce her"

    Was this really ever moral?

God's law is perfect and eternal according to Psalms,& Jesus said we need to keep every OT law till the heaven & earth disappears in MAtt5:18

  • @mrpayne123

    -

This is what happens when you learn the Bible from ignorant websites like evilbible(dot)com. God isn't making the woman marry the man there. You have to understand that in those days, if a woman wasn't married, there would be no one to care for her after her father grew elderly or died. And a woman who wasn't a virgin would not be chosen for marriage at all... contd

  • @AgApE010 Why isn't the man punished severely for the raping? Also they didn't choose non-virgins for marriage "in those days" b/c it was God's law to stone them on the wedding night. Det 22:20

(on the wedding night) if evidence of the girls virginity is not found, they shall bring the girl to the entrance of her fathers house and there her townsman shall stone her to death

Nice try blaming it on culture. Also I'm interested if you can justify Elijah killing 42 youths for calling him bald?

  • @mrpayne123

    -

contd ...Thus the law commanded here that the man marry her to make sure she is provided for. However, the law further stated that if the woman's father can show that he can provide for her so that she wouldn't be homeless and helpless, and if the marriage was not preferable, she did not have to marry. So contrary to what you try to make it say, this law was for the benefit of the woman.

  • Im not a Christian but even i can come up with better answers than this this is not the first time humanity has been around, youtube 4th krypton he will blow your mind.

  • When god made adam and eve.... 144 generations before jesus, ie. around 4000 BC.. AHAHHAHAHHAHHA! What a moron!

  • Hey Matt, are your arms tired from stretching so much?

  • well Radarkat, did you know that before the Ark, there was never No rain and no one ever heard of Rain?

  • @klcaviar10 You're right. And crops back in the good 'ol days didn't need water to grow. All the wild trees in the world's forests and jungles were meticulously watered by humans carrying buckets of salty seawater. It had to be seawater because since there was never any rain, there would never be any snow in the mountains. Without snow in mountains, there would be no running rivers. With such severe droughts and hardships, maybe it just felt like they were living over 100 years.

  • Because the Old Testament is made up!

  • genetic mutations is evolution =S i'm confused.. i was under the impression evolution was false to Christians ?

  • I wish it was satire. Unfortunately its mind-pacifying propaganda BY simple minded idiots FOR simple minded idiots.

  • This is satire right? Please tell me it is. There's no way he can truly believe what he's saying

  • Good news guys! Kent Hovind can stay in prison we've found his replacement.

  • Brother, instead of telling us theories..why not stick to scripture? Gen. 6:3 gives us our answer as to our shortened years, as you have mentioned...(the wickedness of man was great in the earth...Gen .6:5.) According to Gen. 5:32; Noah was 500 years old when God told him to build the Ark. Gen. 7:11 tells us in the 600th year of Noah's life...were the windows of heaven opened up..." Therefore, it took Noah 100 years to build the Ark...You didn't tell us where you got 120 years?

  • @klcaviar10 - strange how scientists have never dated any human in history to be over 122, let alone 400 to 900 years.

You dumb fucks will believe anything that a 2000 year old book with no evidence that it's anywhere near true says huh?

Human's are truly more stupid than they give themselves credit for.

  • @klcaviar10 So, Noah started building the ark a hundred years before the flood? Some parts of the ark were 100 years old at the time of it's completion? Have you ever seen dead wood that's 100 years old? It's usually rotten by then.

  • All of these "explanations" are ridiculous, but my favourite one has to be the "canopy theory". Honestly, how stupid do you have to be to believe that it is possible to live for hundreds of years by minimising your exposure to sunlight??? Oh, and just to remind everyone, humans life spans have been continually lengthening - not shortening - throughout our history, which rubbishes the "sin shortening" theory, too.

  • epic Facepalm..

  • Somebody has never heard of science.

  • Or everyone lived longer because they never existed and all the dates contradicted each other so they just made it all up-- yup, I'm going with that one.

  • Ok, one of your theory's is that because of genetic mutations our life spans shortened through time. Then why, since we've been able to properly document such things, has our average life expectancy been increasing?

  • @whoopiman

I'm no expert, and I'm not agreeing with the theory, but the explanation seems pretty obvious. Our knowledge/skill of medicine/science has been continually increasing. Also, especially in more developed countries, life is far more safe due to machines and laws. Seeing that we can be cured of much more diseases and we are not exposed to more dangerous things (or at least not as much) then it makes sense that the average life span would increase.

  • @whoopiman our life expectancy doesnt increase stop listening to propaganda in very poor places without medicine machines just with nature people live more than in western countries like being 100 is normal in those places life expectancy never changed thousands years ago people had the same lifespan

  • @roflzi Wow, completely erroneous

The average life expectancy has gone from about 35 2,000 years ago, to around 70. Medicine and science are amazing!

Okinawa has the greatest concentration of century old people. You don't even know what you're talking about.

  • @jesuriah i guess thats why platon died at 80 and in the old testament is is said that the days of a man were like what 70 or 80 years?

so i think you meant "completely true"?

  • @roflzi I have no idea who Platon is. One person is not a statistic, obviously. It's sad really, that you'd make a comment on a video without actually watching it. Matt quotes the bible, Genesis 6, verse 3, where the bible says man's age will be 120 years.

Besides, a simple checking of statistics will show you the average life expectancy has risen in the last two thousand years...significantly.

  • @jesuriah of course if people kill thsemselves in wars or have short lifespans because of those, if theres black plagues etc etc lifespan will be shortened anyway anyway if in the bible it says that the days were 70 or 80 its because the jews here lived up to 70 or 80 for most of them so i dont see any rising or its only artificial rising since they could live already up to that age

also people dont live yet up to 120

  • @roflzi "because the jews here lived up to 70 or 80 for most of them "

Do you have any evidence to support your claim? Because what you said is a pretty big deal, saying that for the last six thousand years Jews have had some kind of secret life expectancy that no body else has caught on to.

"also people dont live yet up to 120"

Are you serious? I said THE BIBLE, which was quoted in THIS VIDEO tells you how old Yahweh says man will be.*facepalm*..sorry haven't had my morning cigarette.

  • @jesuriah do you smoke marijuana of course i know "they will be 120 blabla" i just said that has yet to happen if that bugs you that they lived in that area thats your problem and like i said in almost completely rural/uncivilized places people already live very long

  • @roflzi It's quite clear to me you've never heard of Africa. The most underdeveloped continent has am average life expectancy of around 50.

You need to do some research.

The only reason the people you mentioned live so long is because of modern medicine, not religious hokum.

  • @jesuriah in rural/uncivilized means they have NO modern medicines

africa suffers mostly from ethnic/civil wars starvation or aids so i would not be surprised if they have even the lowest lifespan on the whole earth

also theres was no such thing as modern medicine thousands years ago

  • @roflzi "in rural/uncivilized means they have NO modern medicines"

That is not what those words mean.

"also theres was no such thing as modern medicine thousands years ago"

I never said anything to the contrary.

  • is this a joke?

  • Google search 900 year old man... Click - The 900 Year Old Man « Science and Religion

  • That's brilliant Matt, so what happens when you run into an unanswered question in the Bible is you just make one up?

What an appropriate method and consistent too with the writing of the Bible itself.

  • it,s cus adam ate all his greens. these bible nutters are great for a laugh. no god= no 900 yo humans. this is why we laugh at you cranks.

  • Kent Hovind has a longer in deph study on this and its amazing.

I love how short this is though while getting to the point. :)

  • Mindbogglingly insane .

  • people die because of sin? you ignorant, brainwashed, ad-hominem asshole lol

  • @ItsKnucklez Why do you have the need to insult this man?

  • @bluesette82 because he is full of shit

  • @ItsKnucklez Wow, you just throw all possibilities of dialoguing out the window....why the hostility?

  • @bluesette82 simple... what makes this guys totaly insane story of the magical man in the sky any more crazy than scientologists insane story about men in the sky? at the end of the day as part of a quantum fluctuation a singularity spontaniously inflated into a vast field comprising matter and energy in a constantly expanding fabric of space and time, causality also arising in the process, making a causitive agent (god) not only unnecessary, but impossible

  • @ItsKnucklez well, does it harm you in any way that he believes what he does? I thought America was a place that was safe for everyone to believe what they wanted, and express those beliefs freely. Why must you insult and be hostile towards him for taking advantage of that freedom afforded to him by the constitution of the United States?

  • @bluesette82 Well, it's not. It's a state. Sorry for bursting your bubble.

  • @hayden1234ish What does that even mean, Friend?

  • @ItsKnucklez oh, and you should really take a religion 101 course, hun! ;)

  • I would appreciate if the poster of this video would address this question. From the tone of this video it seems that you interpret the bible literally. That must mean that you believe that these people actually lived up to 996years old and that there was a talking snake. Is this not ludicrous? If jesus was born of a virgin then joseph's ancestory is irrelevant. If so you cannot fulfill the old test prohpechy of the messiah being a descendant of david.

  • Is this guy consulting with Kent Hovind?

  • Matt, using your logic we would be doing good by killing all babies at birth because they are born evil. This would stop them from leading a life of evil.

    Am I right?

  • Hypotheses for feeble and easily-satisfied Christian minds. Remember, if your arguments are to be persuasive you have to reach beyond this audience.

  • And the scientific evidence for this?

Oh, that's right. You have none. In fact, all science contradicts this creationist nonsense.

Way to bend your mind backwards to make reality fit with your skewed worldviews.

  • please pm me with this "evidence" of which u speak oid love to hear

  • No need for any pm's. Just open any science book on the subject, or get a hold of some peer reviewed papers.

In turn, could you provide me with any peer reviewed paper that contradicts this?

Go ahead and knock yourself out.

  • i agree with Gnug as far as we see in history books and science human back then didn't live long at all. Old age was around 30-40 years old and you were considered a sage at 45. I would like to see evidence of this long life as well i am interested indeed.

  • False...the length of life has been 'increasing' since the beginning of recorded history.
