whoa. this is trippy. it's an amazing band and arrangement, but it's kind of hard to listen to! lol. no disrespect. it is what it is, but this is such a groove song that when they extend the phrases out all weird like that, it frustrating to listen to. all in all, it's pretty damn cool.

you cant do this song this way..the song is about rythem and the groove....it doesnt sound clean and tight..it sounds like some mixed up jazz interpretation..the players are ok...but my god you cant keep time with this..the drums are all wrong..they overtake everything..you all are good players but this arrangement is just a mess.

It sounds clean and tight to me. I think the thing that's bothering you is the meter, which they changed here by making it one eighth-note longer (2+2+2+3). Sure, it's a little harder to snap your fingers to, but that's not the point here. The drums are closest to the video camera, so they sound louder. You say it sounds like some mixed up jazz interpretation- that's because it IS! Maybe jazz trios aren't your kind of music, but try not to dismiss something you don't know about.

with all due respect and no disrespect im 36 i started in orchestra in 1985 im 36 and im still playing bass..in music there are counts for time common time you name it..this music in its whole to me is a mess, if i listen to each instruemtn they are hitting the right note3s its the time is off..now if this is a new thing people like doing thats great but its not an art i support, in my 24 years ive played and been exposed to many differnt art forms..but this isnt anything i coul;d deal with.

Hey, I'm sure you know a lot about music. No arguments there. I'm just suggesting that maybe this might not be the kind of music you have a lot of experience with. (Have you played a lot of music with "additive meter"? or in a jazz trio such as this?) If not, then it might be hard to tell what's happening meter-wise. This group has changed the song from its original meter (4/4) to an irregular meter (2+2+2+3/8). The key signature is irregular, but they are playing in time with it.

It's because in Orchestra it's all technical. Jazz....you can throw technical out the window thats greatest thing about it, you don't have to play it exactly the way Stevie Wonder played it. I bet he would've thought this was a decent arrangement. Not the greatest but better than most of us couldve done. This jazz, you can do whatever u want with a song within the guidelines that it makes sense. Much different from Orchestral music

This doesn't suck. It's a really cool alteration of the original. It's in 9, which is hard to do on its own. And make it sound cool at the same time is a real feat. I saw them perform this live myself, and it was rad. The piano player made two albums all based on Stevie's tunes.
